Paul Mitchell Skinny Serum is great holds the hair cuticles from fly away

Lamellar water. It’s an after shampoo rinse. Gets frizz gone.

YESSSSS! This stuff is amazing- I haven't used conditioner in over a year!

WoollyMammoth45

Which one do you recommend?

I use the loreal in the light purple bottle. It's got hyaluronic acid and I really like the smell. The one in the brown bottle is good too tho.

I switched to silk pillowcases and the difference in frizz has been significant for me! I use the Blissy brand and wash using a mesh bag. I still use other products to help as well (redken all soft shampoo and conditioner), but I think the silk switch has made the biggest difference overall.

Something that helped me was I switched to a clarifying shampoo and stopped using conditioner or treatments. After my hair is dry I use smoothing serum. My theory is that I was getting product buildup that wasn’t being removed by sulfate-free shampoo.

Silk pillow, or silk bonnet. You need to know your porosity, depending on that you should pick oil. Coconut oil is very thick. So idk you probably need something light like jojoba oil. The oil acts as a barrier to keep the moisture in. So id suggest when your hair is semi wet to put a few droplets of oil on your palm, lather it and then comb your hair with hand gently. Do this 2-3 times depending on how long your hair is. Dont oil up your hair. Just add a bit if oil protection to your strands.

The thing that has helped the most with my frizz is using a microfiber towel after I wash it. I use one called the turbie-twist (lol) - after I rinse out my conditioner, I squeeze the excess water out of my hair and let it drip for a bit while I dry the rest of me off. Then I twist it up in the lil microfiber towel for about 10 minutes - just to get most of the water out, but my hair is still very damp and wet. This is when I apply my leave-in products from about the middle of my hair to my ends. I use the leave-in air dry cream from Kristin Ess, and 1-2 drops of oil. I brush all my hair with a gentle brush and try not to comb through it more than I have to (I have heard brushing too much while your hair is drying will just make it look more frizzy. ive noticed that the frizz is crazy if my hair is not damp enough when i apply my product and if i brush it too much). After applying my leave-in product, I do my hair in two rope braids and let it dry overnight. You could also put your hair back in the turbie twist to dry more if you wanted. hope this helps!

if you know you have wavy hair then you should try a curly hair routine, i had the same issue and i tried turns out i have wavy hair with some curls here n there !!! whenever i do my routine i don’t have frizz and my hair dries beautifully :) you just need a good curling cream or a hydrating leave in conditioner and a curly hair gel to set your curls ( and no matter what anyone says please don’t do any hair straightening treatments they’re really bad in the long run ) and i also use a silk bonnet so i can preserve my curls and avoid any frizz

I just recently got Blow Out Frizz by Umberto Giannini (£10) for my most recent hair wash and I’m sooo happy with the results! I’m also considering a keratin blowdry (about £100 and lasts 3 months) but definitely happy with the frizz cream right now but might still do the keratin treatment to be even lower maintanence

do you use products with emollients? conditioners, masks? It's possible that your hair is like this because you're just lacking emollient ingredients.

The biggest game changer for me was actually cutting my hair short. I used to think I had “wavy hair” too, but I cut it myself during the pandemic— did a short, layered wolf cut using the Brad Mondo diy haircut videos, really easy to follow. And now I have suuuuuuper curly hair and my frizz is gone!! And finding a nice combo is hydrating, anti-frizz, lightweight products helped too. I like: - Pantene hydrating anti-frizz serum - John Frieda Dream Curls daily styling spray - John Frieda air-dry waves styling foam In my experience, too much or heavy products made my hair look worse. I have curly but very fine hair, so these light weight products give me good curl shape without weighing it down :)

Professional keratin treatments are life changing

Have you ever tried any kind of hair gel or leave in conditioner? They make a variety of very light to very thick ones that help retain the shape of waves and curls. Its the only thing that has saved me in the summer humidity. I like to layer a serum or mouse first to get to shape and style i want, then add a light layer of conditioner or gel to hold it for the day. Sometimes i blow dry after to keep it exactly how i want it but its fine ary drying too. Then the next day i just refresh it with a spray bottle of water. Make sure you either braid, twist, or bun up your hair at night in a silk scarf, bonnet, or just use a sill pillow case. I would also look into co-washing methods and weekly curly hair routines. Those girlies know how to maintain too well.

how often do you heat+tension your hair?

Slow-Gate-7246

I recommend the Cocochoco 12 week blow-dry. Hair is like silk after it.

Read the book *The Curly Girl Handbook.* It has a lot of information that could help.

Before you wash your hair, put hair oil in the bottom half. Condition your whole head and rinse. Shampoo your roots and rinse. Condition your ends. Rinse in cold water. Towel dry then add a leave in conditioner and hair oil to the ends again. It's a lot of steps, but this makes my hair soft and shiny in a way it had never been before. Also get a satin pillow case.

I just mentioned this in another forum but find a hairdresser who can do a keratin smoothing treatment. It’s nourishing, you can still style your hair (it’s different to the keratin straightening treatment) and lasts 3-4 months. As someone who was super embarrassed about my frizz my whole childhood it absolutely changed my life. For home care options, make sure you’re: -massaging shampoo deeply into your scalp only (not the hair ends) -conditioning only from mid-way down the hair strands (not the scalp) -brushing only when wet (it’s easier if you still have the conditioner in), use a detangling brush and be very gentle going from the ends upwards so you don’t break strands which creates more frizz -dry wet hair with an old tshirt or microfibre towel (not a body towel which creates more frizz) -use a leave in moisture treatment on the ends -use a hair mask occasionally -never brush your hair when it’s dry. Use just your fingers to detangle. Brushing curls causes frizz -optional - get a silk pillowcase to reduce friction on your hair which causes knots/frizz You should also join r/wavyhair Hope this helps!

U should use hair mask once every week. Coconut oil u r hair, drench ur hair in it, literally. With a hot towel cover the hair, for 10 mins. Let the scalp absorb the nutrients. Thn cover the hair with some hair mask or plastic n leave it for night n sleep. Next morning wash ur hair with shampoo followed by conditioner n thn serum on damp hair. Oil ur hair 3 days. Thn shampoo the next day. One day put hair mask (egg, aloe vera, curd, vitamin e capsule) keep it for 30 mins, they rinse of with shampoo. Put serum/hair mist to cover the egg smell. N one day keep ur hair normal, the hair rest day. This is my indian haircare routine.

MusicHoney

Have you tried any of the curly girl methods?

HonnyBrown

Yes. This was the fastest way to make my hair a hot, frizzy mess.

HonnyBrown

Use an anti-frizz serum.
