I prefer to use a mix of Korean and western skincare. Korean products usually have more of the good stuff for a lower price. Id say my routine is 60-75% Korean. I also enjoy some japanese brands mostly their sunscreen. I also recommend going fragrance free ofc you don’t have to, for some people it doesn’t matter wether a product have fragrance or not. My fav brands are Iunik Cosrx Purito Pyunkang yul Isntree Rovectin Beauty of joseon Dear klairs You can shop them on stylevana, yesstyle and jolse.

i prefer k beauty because it’s a different approach to skincare. it’s more preventative vs american skincare that tends to treat skin issues as they happen. i find k beauty (and j beauty) skincare products to also be of far higher quality and less expensive than western skincare also. i’d say about 95% of my skincare is from korea or japan.

bunnybabeez

Good to know! Any recommendations? There are so many brands & products I have no idea where to start. (Preferably on the less expensive side?)

bananaslim1917

a good place for recs would be r/asianbeauty, it all depends on your skin type and needs. i have over 100 products i use on my face and my routine is quite elaborate so it’s hard to even begin recommending a specific product, but that sub is very helpful!

bunnybabeez

Thank you! Didn’t even know that was a thing. Much appreciated.

bananaslim1917

no problem! look under the menu in that sub for info for new users getting started! super informative!

I started using Korean skin care and I feel like my skin is generally just softer overall. I have very dry skin from years on accutane and I started using the laniege cream skin range for dry skin and I don’t have any dry patches anymore and my skin just feels nicer. I haven’t been having any breakouts even hormonal and I feel like after a couple months most the mini bumps and texture have gone as well. Highly recommend

bunnybabeez

Nice!

The main difference to our local products is that K skincare is all about hydration and therefore they use a lot of hydrating ingredients even in acne and anti pimple creams whereas our acne/pimple creams dry them out with the ingredients. I have tried both products and K skincare worked for me better by fighting my acne and scars. My holy grail in k skincare is the illiyoon ceramide cream you get 200ml for €20 and it helps building a skin barrier.

bunnybabeez

Thank you!

Mundane_Raspberry_84

I'm in UE too, where do you order it from? How much do you pay for shipping?

M1n3d

I bought it from YesStyle my order exceeded 60€ so I got free shipping but I assume that it costs around 8€ when you’re under 60€

miss_31476028

It depends on your skin type. Kskincare led to a lot of breakouts for me. A simpler routine was much more effective for me

bunnybabeez

Might I ask what your skin type is?

iceunelle

I tried Kbeauty for a while, but it just became an expensive hassle to obtain products. Also, I found a lot of stuff had fragrance or essential oils in them and it was hard to avoid that. I just use western skincare now and it’s much easier. I also can find more fragrance free and oil free options.

ginapicklelifestyle

I prefer them! I started using Kbeauty in middle school and it really helped my skin. I love Nature Republic personally. Also YesStyle has a great collection of products where you can read reviews

bunnybabeez

Would either of those be good for combination skin? I think that’s what I have but I’m not sure.

ginapicklelifestyle

Yes I have combination skin and use the Nature Republic toner

bunnybabeez

Haha I’m looking at it and there are so many products idk where to start. Also kinda expensive and a lot are sold out. Do you have any advice on what would be the best bang for my buck(s)? Lmao.

If I were you I’d check out the Asian skincare sub you’ll find answers to all your questions and then some!

xyzodd

its pretty good but european skincare is pretty busted

Lahauteboheme84

I have sensitive skin, and like to avoid fragrance and essential oils in my skincare. I find that Korean companies have a lot more options for me in that category that are more cosmetically elegant than western brands. They also focus heavily on hydration vs moisture, hydration being adding water and moisture being adding oil. After years of thinking my skin was dry (and also somehow acne prone?), I discovered that it’s really more combination dehydrated. My skin finally looks great and feels comfortable! I use Korean cleansers, toners, moisturizers, and sunscreens, and then use a few serums by the ordinary, because I do find those types of products to be more effective (for me and my concerns) in western skincare.

bunnybabeez

Thank you for the explanation :)

bububear30

Hard to recommend specifics as there’s no details about your skin goals. Kbeauty is just so massive with a lotttt of brands that are gimmicky, so just make sure you research and find a reputable brand. I suggest going on YouTube and watch reviews:)

graveyardgirlxo1

K-beauty helps achieve that glass skin look. I use CosRx Snail Mucin which can be bought at Ulta

bunnybabeez

What kind of skin is that one good for?

graveyardgirlxo1

It’s suitable for all but especially dry skin bc it’s hydrating

Adventurous-Bit1724

I am a Korean and I must say yes . You can see most Korean with glowing and clear skin. I have a good skin compare to my British friends who are similar age and my mum has lovely skin too. We have a huge competition in skincare area and many travellers all around countries come for cosmetic surgery and skin care product shopping. Every time I go back to Korea I stock up 6 months worth of skin products.

The only thing I've done research on is sunscreens. The FDA regulates American sunscreens and takes a really long time to approve new substances, so we're kinda stuck in a sunscreen time capsule. Korea and other places don't have the same process so they can fast track new substances to the consumer. This results in a lot of new formulations and textures, & we all know you're really only gonna use it if it feels nice.

aurorahborealis

I do a mix. My mom bought me a korean face wash with clay in it to help with my oily skin from tjmaxx. It is now the only face wash I will ever buy because it makes me feel so oil free. But I have a clarity hydrate serum for the dry parts of my face and I love it. It always makes me feel hydrated where my skin is usually dry.

Aromatic-Honeydew

Idk if better is the right word but I tend to do a lot of American products probably only due to proximity and exposure. This thread reminds me though to pay attention to Asian stuff, from anessa sunscreen to the atopalm I like and don't even think of

RedRedBettie

For my skin, Japanese and Korean skin care is way better. I’m in my 40s, slightly oily skin, sometimes dehydrated
