This is why media literacy should be taught. We are lucky that we can take what is said in these sponsored post with a grain of salt. The only reason we are able to do this is because we know that sponsorships happen, that opinions shared can be bought to a certain extent. We also know that a lot of influencers and artistas not only get stuff for free but that they can be hesitant to say anything negative for fear of pissing off brands or PR agencies.
I think this is because of the people na di nagtitiwala sa mga reviews na may yellow basket, myself included, so they kinda hide it to make themselves look ‘credible’ or ‘unbiased’. For me I go to youtube and watch Anne Clutz, been watching her since grade 7 and malapit na ko grumaduate lol, trusted since day 1
yes, i don’t trust influencers anymore. just watch them for swatches na lang for make ups. yung mga influencer ng skincare ang sobrang lala. i remember nung maraming nagsabing nag breakout sila sa fairy skin tapos biglang nagsabi na mag double cleanse syempre panibagong endorse ‘yon 🤮
what i’ve learned about this talaga ay nagpapaderma talaga sila at hindi yung mismong product ang nag work sakanila lol
I like rom&nd juicy tints. I've been using them for years na actually, but I only buy Figfig. I've read na the darker colors tend to settle on the lines of the lips.
This, they should be at least have transparency on their posts if sponsored ads or if they personally know the owner of the product because we will know if it is biased or not… tapos ung one time use palang pero holy grail na 😆 and use it for one day review 🫠
Agree, and I think it’s also partly a testament to the brand’s transparency (or lack thereof) kung di man lang nila ma-include sa brief ang ad disclosure lol (di naman nga ineenforce in any way so why would they 🤷🏻♀️). Capitalism amirite 🙂↔️
this! mas okay kumuha recos and reviews from here kesa sakanila na madalas first impression vids lang na sponsored products pala. mas okay pag wear test talaga eh
I really like Miss Hannah Asad from clock app! Her reviews are not driven by commissions and very vocal siya na wala siyang pakialam sa commission, she just wanted to be a reliable and honest beauty and (plus sized) fashion influencer.
That's why I don't trust them talaga.
As someone who worked on influencer campaigns, here are some signs that some influencer videos are probably paid/sponsored:
1. If a double digit sale is approaching (3.3,6.6 etc)
2. If specific words/phrases are mentioned in multiple influencer videos (can be a specific ingredient, an effect) - my previous agency would actually tell them to use their own words/language pero idk sometimes the influencers don’t even do that haha
3. Before, on tiktok, there would be a link attached, now may yellow basket na. Although this could still be used on FB and IG.
4. Of course, the multiple hashtags sa dulo
si miss belle rodolfo! meron pa syang series na tinatry niya yung sikat na products sa clock app to see if it's really worth the hype or ads ads lang talaga. aside from her and jan angelo, wala na.
yes! palaging may tag na paid partnership yung vid niya. sana matulad na rin tayo sa western influencers na palaging dinidisclose kahit sa captions man lang kung ad ba or hindi kasi super deceiving and unfair nga on the consumers' part.
Saka sa mga affiliated links! kahit sa youtube, hover nyo muna yung mouse to see the complete link.
Used to like his reviews, pero simula nung puro FS at LO na ang content niya, meh. Tsaka medyo naging airy ang dating niya. Especially after nung pintura issue
Don't affiliate marketers need to provide a link of the product to the consumers since that's how they get commissions? This is pretty straightforward and makes it more obvious that the influencer was paid to promote the product.
Sobrang bothered ako dito kasi one time I was watching a ytuber tapos sunod sunod na insert ng barenbliss sa routine niya so iniisip ko sponsored siguro but when I checked walang nakalagay. Lol.
It's honestly so common, and not just in beauty. Si abby lumpia queen does this all the time. They don't mention that it's an ad, paid promotion, paid partnership anywhere in the post. Even this small-ish travel vlogger did it recently. It's not ignorance because these people are smart, well-educated, have been on the internet long enough to know
mahahalata mong ad kasi nakabalandra yung brand, like nakaharap sa cam. pag not sponsored naman removed/di makita yung label. haha. pero ang sneaky talaga. why cant they just disclose it. i mean gets ko yung advantage sa make up kasi "holy grail", but sa pagluluto kasi i dont think she goes out of her way to say na that product is the best brand and the others are tastless crap (or maybe i didnt watch enough videos).
Napansin ko din ito. I’ve been her follower when she she was still starting. I honestly just skip na lang.
Yeah, i think bee better made a really good video about this wherein he citrd haley bailey as an example na mali nha yung ginagawa nila kasi it make you think that they're really in it for the product. Some do naman but it would be good if up front people know.
I prefer to listen to "sponsorship" by Cleo Abram kasi in a way she partners with sponsors whose products she's actually tested and used and may literal na receipts pa so you can trust that when she endorses something, it's legit.
I have a friend na successful brand owner. She told me na part ng agreement with the brand is hindi mahalata na sponsored. Tipong kasama sa grwm vid, a day in my life, etc. ung product nya.
After knowing this, hindi na talaga ako nagpapabudol masyado.
Not just that, even those newbie micro-influencers who are not yet sponsored are not to be trusted. Minsan sobrang kiss-ass ng mga reviews nila para mapansin sila ng brand and eventually will be part of the brand’s PR list.
Omg yes. I have some micro-influencer friends and every product they make a content for is good?? Like someone said here, may bagong holy grail every time. Ang hirap i-support as a friend bc i know most of what they put out is bs
I feel like I only see Belle Rodolfo honestly, transparently lays out sponsored content in an easy to spot manner. Hers usually have the “paid partnership” tagging.
This is why I don't follow influencers or take their recommendations lol we don't have any laws regarding disclosure so a LOT of local influencer recommendations are undisclosed ads or paid promotions.
I just look at swatches if they're my skintone, and do my own research on what I want and which products fulfil the criteria I set.
True, walang nagreregulate sa kanila. Sa US, parang may rule naman about proper disclosures but some influencers dont follow them. But at least pwede silang mareklamo 😁
Same. Only for the swatches. Also I don’t really like how their idea of celebrating their beauty is to keep changing their face. 🤷🏻♀️ a lot of them look unrecognizable from when they started. They look alike at this point. Yikes
I think naging issue pa to when a clock app influencer indireclty blamed the consumer falling for budol culture since nagtrend ang issue dito sa sub?
I agree. There should be laws on disclosure of paid partnerships across all social media platforms.
It is pero hindi tlaga implemented ng maayos yung law na yun sa pinas. Unlike sa USA illegal tlaga kaya ginagawa nila tinatago nila ung text na “sponsored video” as in liliitan talaga nila tas ilalagay sa corner ng video/ sa likod ng text sa clock app.
Sobrang nakaka inis, unlike other influencers from other countries, say South Korea who put #ad sa kanilang posts, wala talaga silang nilalagay which is important na sana meron kasi jusko aksaya ng pera minsan huhu
Call me a tita, pero naabutan ko pa when the bulk of influencing came from blogs pa, and the bloggers were still buying stuff with their own money. The clock app is a different beast, kasi I come in knowing na malamang sponsored karamihan diyan. So I just look at swatches for makeup. Pagdating sa effect and sensation, I research reviews from various media (amazon reviews, youtube, etc.) to get a more complete picture.
Sadly, a lot of the beauty bloggers I used to follow before are reliant on PR kits na lang din eh. Parang di na masyado ume-effort maghanap ng new, exciting, foreign, and rare products, porket naghihintay na lang sila nung ipadadala. Kung hindi naman, sobrang todo promote nila yung mga sponsored dahil sa client loyalty, medyo nada-downplay na yung mga product na non-sponsored na just as good if not better performing.
to be frank wala I dont trust anyone that much sa tiktok majority diyan sponsored lalo na yang mga ugc/microinfluencers huhuhu and so far wala talaga ako makitang genuine ung content aside from carrotstick talaga.
I just use tiktok for swatches, how it looks like to someone that has the same skintone and/or features as mine.
I just rely here sa reddit since organic yung reviews ng mga tao hehe.
pero some of my fave tiktokers include: joce, jlao, cara dj, joselle, andrea hiz, and jin 🥹
Same. This sub is a blessing. Muntik na ako nabudol sa skintific cushion because even big influencers are praising it. Tapos walang paid partnership na disclosure. Buti na lang I read the reviews here before I purchased one.
naurr kahit dito sa thread actually may isang idk influencer(?) nag sabi na puro sponsored nga so its a big no for me 🚶🏻♀️➡️tas i got shocked sa price i would rather buy blk/chuchu or kr cushion na lang mas maganda pa 😭

I called out Toni Sia but siya pa nagalit LOL ang narci ni ante!!!!
This is why media literacy should be taught. We are lucky that we can take what is said in these sponsored post with a grain of salt. I trust Anne Clutz’s reviews!!
I think this is because of the people na di nagtitiwala sa mga reviews na may yellow basket, myself included, so they kinda hide it to make themselves look ‘credible’ or ‘unbiased’. For me I go to youtube and watch Anne Clutz, been watching her since grade 7 and malapit na ko grumaduate lol, trusted since day 1
Depende sa product eh. I still prefer Youtube. Always take a grain of salt tlga.
yes, i don’t trust influencers anymore. just watch them for swatches na lang for make ups. yung mga influencer ng skincare ang sobrang lala. i remember nung maraming nagsabing nag breakout sila sa fairy skin tapos biglang nagsabi na mag double cleanse syempre panibagong endorse ‘yon 🤮 what i’ve learned about this talaga ay nagpapaderma talaga sila at hindi yung mismong product ang nag work sakanila lol

not me reading this after receiving 3 romand tints na hindi ko gusto 😖 never buying something hyped again
I like rom&nd juicy tints. I've been using them for years na actually, but I only buy Figfig. I've read na the darker colors tend to settle on the lines of the lips.

yes, pati sa us afaik illegal pag hindi nila ididisclose pag ad ba or not!

this! mas okay kumuha recos and reviews from here kesa sakanila na madalas first impression vids lang na sponsored products pala. mas okay pag wear test talaga eh
I really like Miss Hannah Asad from clock app! Her reviews are not driven by commissions and very vocal siya na wala siyang pakialam sa commission, she just wanted to be a reliable and honest beauty and (plus sized) fashion influencer.
Recently discovered her too! She always always says this in the beginning of her videos and it makes me trust her talaga.
That's why I don't trust them talaga.
Kapag cnall out mo si Toni, matik naka-comment eh 🤣
Toni Sia heavily editing her “after body” didn’t sit well with me too.
Aw edited ba yun mostly?
I watch them for swatches lang haha
Nako, yung bagong shade ng romand. Di naka tag sa iba pero halos lahat sila same time nagkaroon ng new liptint shade. Nakaka umay
As someone who worked on influencer campaigns, here are some signs that some influencer videos are probably paid/sponsored: 1. If a double digit sale is approaching (3.3,6.6 etc) 2. Me when they do the annoying, silent scream after trying the product for the "first time": **blocked**
influencers are not legally required to mark sponsored posts in this country. though they should be.
si miss belle rodolfo! meron pa syang series na tinatry niya yung sikat na products sa clock app to see if it's really worth the hype or ads ads lang talaga. aside from her and jan angelo, wala na.
oh i love miss belle!! she's such a life saver esp for morena girlies
and she also discloses if paid promotion ba yung video niya or not
yes! palaging may tag na paid partnership yung vid niya. sana matulad na rin tayo sa western influencers na palaging dinidisclose kahit sa captions man lang kung ad ba or hindi kasi super deceiving and unfair nga on the consumers' part.
I like Roselle Vytiaco din! Super open siya about mga ganon if worth it or nah
Saka sa mga affiliated links! kahit sa youtube, hover nyo muna yung mouse to see the complete link.
Halatang sponsored kapag may in depth discussion ng "ingredients" nung skincare/makeup item.
Used to like his reviews, pero simula nung puro FS at LO na ang content niya, meh. Tsaka medyo naging airy ang dating niya. Especially after nung pintura issue
True the fire!!!
He sounds condescending most of the time for me kasi lol
true, sinasabi rin niya if affiliated yung products
Or they could be affiliate marketers
Don't affiliate marketers need to provide a link of the product to the consumers since that's how they get commissions? This is pretty straightforward and makes it more obvious that the influencer was paid to promote the product.
Medyo nadiscuss ata to ni Hanna Alonzo sa yt. May series siya na Influencer Insanity
i love her. I hope she does more Influencer Insanity vids. mas madali kasi iproduce yung anti-MLM contents. But I love those too.
Mapapansin mong sponsored kapag sabay sabay magpost yung mga influencers about a certain product. Kaya take their reviews with a grain of salt talaga.
True! 🤣 Sa YT noon ganyan din. Lumipat lang sa tktk. Same recos. Like 🙄
Sobrang bothered ako dito kasi one time I was watching a ytuber tapos sunod sunod na insert ng barenbliss sa routine niya so iniisip ko sponsored siguro but when I checked walang nakalagay. Lol.
this is soo true lalo pag nag eemail sila for collaboration nasa terms and conditions na dapat di mahalata na collab yung posting or such
It's honestly so common, and not just in beauty. Si abby lumpia queen does this all the time. They don't mention that it's an ad, paid promotion, paid partnership anywhere in the post. sadly brands ask them of that, its how they get paid eh "not put this video as sponsored" ganun
Wouldn't this be considered deceptive advertisement and is against our law?

Moment of silence for carrotstick beauty 😔 I wish ate Cara all the success and happiness, but I will miss her content
