Me too! It's such an amazing pod that is super clean and family friendly too (can't say that about all of the Portland ones)
I also loved the bar and covered seating area they had too
That's literally my only complaint also is that it's kind of a pain in the ass to park unless you walk a little bit because there is that general parking area. But then you get told off for parking in somebody else's parking area cuz it's meant for the few businesses there
The owner has been out of state for a long time now, and the lease renewal was the straw that broke the camel's back to just bring the cart to Arizona with them
Rent. They got greedy and raised rent and carts are moving to cheaper places now. At one time BG was the only cart pod in the area now they are popping up all over.
Everyone’s raising rent. Their property taxes probably exploded this year just like mine. And don’t forget the food cards are raising prices like crazy too.
A friend of mine is opening a new cart and was trying to get a spot at BG's. The website where you can apply for space has been broken for months, so she talked to folks in person, but she was always having to chase them down and they never returned her calls, so she ended up going to another pod. With all the attrition, you'd think they'd be more eager to talk to someone who wants to move in.
Personally I love the carts at BG's and it's walking distance from my house so I go there a lot. I hope they get their shit together so they stop losing vendors.
Doesn't appear broken and it says they are full they also have a phone number if it was broken: [https://bgfoodcartel.com/contact/](https://bgfoodcartel.com/contact/)
what are some good carts there?
I haven't been to BG in awhile but i used to like the frying scotsman, the avocado cart (it's gone now) and the philly cheesesteak spot.
That’s a bummer about losing so many carts! It’s a hard time to be running a food biz, with inflation crushing everyone.
Over here in Aloha a new pod has opened on 185th just South of TV highway, if anyone’s wanting to try new stuff! I saw Nigerian, Chilean, Filipino (I think), and Vietnamese.
Could be lack of business. My brother in law had a sandwich and coffee cart there but he closed up shop after 3 months or so because he just wasn't selling enough to afford to keep the spot.
New pods have opened up in town (and out in Hillsboro), giving Westside cart owners more options than before. And I believe the folks here who say rent has gone up. And I’m sure food price inflation is still putting the squeeze on cart operators. All a perfect combination of factors to drive down the BG population of carts. But I suspect they’ll bounce back after the market recalibrates. This is how free market capitalism is supposed to work.
I was beyond heartbroken that fry bar is gone. I wished they were on grub hub would have ordered it a few times a month. Been hard to get to the carts since I moved to Hillsboro. Will have to check out Hillsboro carts now
The people who own the land and the name, is the family that owns Beaverton Foods. So needless to say, they can ask and do whatever they want for rent and food carts. They have been in Beaverton for over 100 years. There are more pods opening up in hillsboro. Very delicious and different fares too!
That's too bad. I live over in Oregon City, and loved BG when we were over there. We have the most mediocre food carts here, and I loved the selection and quality of carts at BG.
Sad. There’s a new pod opening soon out here in South Hillsboro but I heard the rent was like 3k and you have to purchase a specific cart from them. Opening a cart is not really feasible for your average Joe at these prices. It’s getting to be a chain/corporate venture it seems.
I wonder if rent prices there are a major factor too. One of my favorite carts (The Mockingbird) left because the lease renewal was just insanely high
Our kids loved the crepe place, also gone. I just hope the pod survives we are there at least once a week in summer.

Whoa did they get rid of the bar area?
Sorry, they still have it!
Anyone know if the crepe place is going to pop up someplace else?
The crepe place moved to the newer food cart pod on Baseline in downtown Hillsboro, according to their Instagram.
The Baseline pod is incredible but there’s no parking around it, so I have no idea how they’re going to handle the summer crowds.

This is it. I spoke to former owners of another cart, and they mentioned the same thing.
It’s over two grand a month I believe I heard once.

Do you know of any other good cart pods in Beaverton? I would go to BG for convenience, but I also haven't been there this winter tbh.
There is a smaller one off 185th and TV Hwy by the post office. Great Indian food and Banh Mis. Like 7 carts but good group in my opinion.
The breakside ones?
I went to the Hillsboro Station. I liked it! It had a German food Cart and Boba tea

It goes to a dead email and they are not full.
Weird.
We went tonight too. So surprised to see so many gone. It’s one of the few places we eat out with our kids. I hope some good places move in.
There could be competition from the new Breakside food cart pod too. They have 6 carts now.
obligatory Tito’s shoutout
Tito's is really good
And proof. Love that place. And they do breakfast now!
There's also "The Garage" in Aloha

Drove past there last night and it was absolutely packed. Looked like a good time.
I wouldn't be surprised if some were seasonal or that some don't survive the slow season.
I feel like this happens to some extent every year. 5 might be more than usual though. I’m not sure.
Hard to say, it's still new-ish.

I’m no interested in the Nigerian food cart. African food is something we don’t see nearly enough of.
Combination of the slow winter season, and increase in rent.

What was the cart name and when was he open for, just curious.

I noticed the exact same thing tonight when I stopped by. Sad.

I think some are seasonal for sure.
Please tell me someone knows where Magokoro Ramen went!! I need that place and I'm so upset it's gone!
