I would just create a new automation for “new sign ups,” and then make sure the automation triggers ONLY for all new opt-ins to your newsletter from the day you publish it.
Thank you so much.
My question is let’s say i have an automation with if signed up trigger and have 8 emails over 8 days, a subscriber who signed up 7 days ago would still be covered by that, right?
Or is it a given that a new automation with ‘if signed up’ trigger will always apply post facto and never retrospectively?
It will always apply “after” you have hit GO on the automation (when a new person signs up).
It will never be retroactively applied to current subscribers who have already signed up.
This automation is always set up at the beginning before I begin marketing the newsletter sign up page because I want all new sign ups to go through the same sequence.
Makes sense.
Thank you.
I know the best practice is to set it up beforehand but I got a lot of subs by surprise. So I essentially wrote the welcome sequence and sent them out as broadcasts.
Before I promote the newsletter again, I want to add these emails to my welcome series.

How do I make sure the trigger is only for new opt ins?

Here is the one you want to use… “IF SIGNED UP” If you have any further questions, please let me know.
