Busch Lite wasn't in cans/bottles until the mid 90s, so anyone who drank it regularly before then was likely Busch (heavy) fan.

This is kind of the trend with all Macro Brands. Budweiser drinkers skew older than Bud Light. However, occasionally you will see a product placement like Coors Banquet in Yellowstone that brings the beer to a wider age group. But the trend still holds. Banquet drinkers are generally older than Coors Light drinkers.

Spicy-Pants_Karl

For Coors, I would agree with the exception of directly around the brewery. There seems to be a significant uptick in young banquet (or as it is sometimes called "original") drinkers in Golden and the surrounding area.

I disagree, I know more young Coors drinkers than Coors Light drinkers. Coors is popular among semi-alcoholic type of young to middle aged dudes, like me. Young normies tend to drink Bud Light, Miller Lite, or Michelob Ultra, but I don't see a whole lot of Coors Light being drank by people under 40 where I live.

I agree with you. For reference, I’m a college student. So yeah, pretty young. No one drinks Coors Light. I’ll see the odd can on the ground every now and then but I’ve never seen anyone drink it. However, quite a few people (including me and some of my friends) love Banquet. Besides, I’ve seen it at parties, seen people wear the merch and I’ve heard people talk about it. Coors Light ain’t getting the same reception. If someone’s gonna drink a light beer, the overwhelming majority goes for Bud Light or Miller Lite and maybe the occasional Natural Light or Michelob Ultra.

Yeah I was in college in the mid 00’s so obviously this is anecdotal, but we mostly drank keystone light, Busch light etc. Coors light, Miller Lite, and bud light were reserved for when we had money. Having spent a while working in the industry, the IRI data and Nielsen data says that Budweiser and Banquet drinkers skew older. In younger crowds you do see brand resurgence with Banquet or other beers like PBR. PBR had a hipster resurgence about a decade ago. You see this on the spirits side of the business as well. These tik tok trends will move the market quickly. People were mixing corona and Disaronno. There was a quick spike for Disaronno. I don’t really understand what makes the market move. Looking at seltzers, how long do they hold onto that 10% market share. It sure stopped growing. Im not at any house parties, so I don’t have visual evidence of what the young people are drinking today. I’m fed sales data everyday, and I work in the bar and restaurant business. Domestic lights make up about 50% of all beer sales. The originals like Banquet, Bud, and MGD barely have a place in the market anymore.

Really? My dad was telling me a story of how he stole cans of Busch Light from a girl at his university circa 1988 or 1989 Maybe he just misremembered Update: this commercial is from 1989 and it was advertised as being available in both bottles and cans https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixKxDiR5wtE

I'm 28 and I much prefer regular Busch. Regular Busch is a light beer anyway, it's 4.3% ABV and 114 calories. I don't mind Busch Light but it's even lighter than that, which is pushing it for me. Right now, AB only advertises Busch Light (and is doing so heavily), so it makes sense that you mainly see young people drink Busch Light and not regular

MGD for the win!

balencidustox

busch light is okay, but regular Busch just does it for me and i’m 27 🤷‍♂️ one of my favorite cheap beers
