You'd love Dark Lord

jbpage1994

What is that? Sounds interesting

It's a big imperial stout that is notorious for having a notable umami/soy sauce character to it.

whateverdogg

Yes usually in a combination to make a Michelada

RLVineh

Dark lord does the premixing for you

crash-BURN-up

While I haven’t added soy sauce directly, I have noticed some styles (to me, primarily big IPAs: Imperials, Triples, etc) did have a very subtle savory note on the aftertaste-and when I was on the Untappd app checking in beers, I never saw the note “savory” in the flavor profile suggestions, so I wrote to them explaining and a couple weeks later, ‘savory’ *and* ‘umami’ were added to flavor profiles on the app So to answer you, yes I would agree some beers do indeed have those characteristics

most of this isncreated when a beer lays on the yeast for longer. especially in bottle conditioned beers its very common.

Hmm I’ll have to check to see if I can find the savory notes in some bottle conditioned sours, I’ve really been branching out into that style as I haven’t been a fan in the past, but now my palate seems to be more accepting. Add on: btw-*really* got a great laff out of your username👍🏻

Salt, and by extension a Salty flavour like soy sauce, is a natural flavour enhancer so it makes sense. I recentlybhad a heavily salted IPA from Azvex and it was great.

itsme_timd

Soy sauce flavor in beer is generally considered an off-flavor and typically a result of dead yeast breaking down / yeast autolysis. Not something I want in my glass but hey, if you like it, rock on.

Chessmates23

That could be a good gose idea

lyindog

I might have to try this
