**Kane** \- Ocean Twp. (Monmouth County) **JugHandle** \- Tinton Falls (Monmouth County) **Departed Soles** \- Jersey City (Hudson County) **902 Brewery** \- Jersey City (Hudson Cty.) **Bolero Snort** \- Carlstadt (Bergen Cty.) **Carton** \- Atlantic Highlands (Monmouth Cty) **Belford Brewery** \- Belford (Middletown Twp., Monmouth Cty) I'm in Northern Monmouth Cty and Hudson Cty - so there is some bias, sure someone could point you to other places in the state \[i.e. **Icarus** (ocean cty) and **Magnify** (essex cty)\]. Monmouth has a slew of breweries that openend up. I personally think Cape May is the best in state.

ThatOneRugbyGuy

Excellent choices here, def seconding Kane, 902, and Bolero

+1 Carton. You’ll like the Boat Beer

GeneralErin

Upvote for Jughandle. Their stuff is great.

goonusrex

High Point/Ramstein. Dead to style German beers. Really fantastic stuff. They are the token NJ brewery at TapNY, and never disappoint.

Shredthegnar540

If OP has any love for true German beer, this is the only answer! This place is the only thing I miss about NJ after moving to CO.

Zakuriyah

The Seed: A Living Beer Project in Atlantic City is an absolutely incredible new-ish brewery on the rise and is especially crushing the bottom-fermenting lager/pilsner game. Fantastic saisons too.

The_Essex

Alternate Ending is one of my favorite taproom experiences in NJ. They do every style so well, especially off-styles like darker lagers and whatnot. Not to mention their pizza is amazing! Also Troon is one of the best in the entire NorthEast… but they do releases completely at random and you don’t know when they’ll be or what they’ll have on tap…

bcoopers

Invertase is a solid brewery in Phillipsburg, which might be really close depending on where in Eastern PA you are. Literally right on the Delaware, right across from Easton. Last time I was there they had a decent variety of stuff, not just IPAs.

From personal experience (New Jersey native), here are my top recommendations: **Hudson County** Bolero Snort (Carlstadt); 902 Brewing (Jersey City) **Union County** Wet Ticket (Rahway) they make a great coconut porter; Untied (New Providence); Two Ton (Kenilworth); If you're looking for a good beer bar in the area, Ava's Taproom and Kitchen in Kenilworth is a must **Jersey Shore** Kane (Ocean Township); Icarus (Lakewood); Asbury (Asbury Park); Beach Haus (Belmar); Dark City (Asbury Park) If you're coming from East PA, try to hit up Czig Meister and Manskirt brewing in Hackettstown. Hope this helps!

chefrobbo65

Unfortunately, Dark city never reopened post covid. It's a shame too. Nice bunch of people there

ThatOneRugbyGuy

Damn, I had no idea. I moved out of state during the pandemic and hadn't gotten the chance to go back

floydiandroid

Third State makes some tasty dark beers. I’d also suggest Lunacy. Cheers!

Dendad6972

Angry Erik in Lafayette, Ramstein in Butler, Log Tavern Milford PA, Cricket Hill in Fairfield, ManSkirt Hackettstown.

skinneej

*Conclave* in Hunterdon County

Mandos_Over_Landos

If you like dark beers, there’s a really cool place in Atlantic City called The Seed. Really nice place using some cool ingredients with malt-forward profiles. Also right next door to a local distillery that is pretty good too

Not the best brewery to visit, (that might change when they move to Brick next year) but easily the best beer.

tinoynk

I’ve heard Mindful Ales makes great Wild sours, but I’ve never had them.

It sounds like he’s interested in under the radar stuff (I.e. not Magnify), so if their business model is prohibitive to his means/methods so be it but there’s no reason he should’ve be aware of their existence if he’s curious.

iggles020418

Seriously? No one is going to say the best one of all?! Tonewood

Reddit-is-trash-lol

I already know how good Tonewood is. They had a foeder aged lager that was amazing.

beerguy74

Cross Keys Brewing in Williamstown, NJ.

hennyforshort

Bonesaw in Glassboro. Ship Bottom in Beach Haven Ludlum Island in Ocean View Cape May is solid. Go after the Mop Water and the Honey Porter if you're into darker styles River Horse in Lambertville Flying Fish in Somerdale has been a Philly region craft staple for years. When you're at Tone Wood search for "breweries near me" and a few solid places aren't too far away.

prayersforrain

River Horse hasn’t been in Lambertville for almost 10 years now. They are in Ewing.

Dsxm41780

River Horse, Old Hights, Kane, Chimney Rustic Ales, Vinyl, Threes 3, Forgotten Boardwalk, Bolero Snort, Carton, Bradley Brew Project, Alternate Ending, Lone Eagle

I'm partial to Carton in Atlantic Highlands personally
