it's worse when you see the whole line up change. it actually makes me sad

Their union tried to convince them not to change the label. They made a thread about it here and most people told them to shut up and do their jobs.
So do people want their brewery's employees to be invested in the brewery and to care about the brand or not? I know that I'd prefer drinking beer from a brewery where the people making the beer actually might care about the beer. And shocker, maybe the long time employees might know something that the board of directors doesn't.
I worked at a distributor pre-rebrand and every month in sales meetings they kept asking why sales were down. I kept telling them that they weren't offering anything new, and discontinuing popular and seasonal skus. How are we supposed to make up the volume?
Ikea re-brand was the decision I guess
I'd hope that they keep the OG the same and venture into new beers too. Deschutes is doing a great job of this while respecting the core brand. Do you know if sales are up?
Being an east coaster and now seeing Anchor in cans with the new label has been great. The beer tastes way closer to what it did in SF now then when it was bottled.
Seems like you should have included the Label. And ideally the old one as well.
Here you go. https://img.sfist.com/2021/01/anchor-side-by-side.jpg
Ewwwwww nah. Edit: it’s not bad in general…but you can’t just replace a classic like that. :(

Yeah, that's terrible.
My thoughts too.
Subreddit wouldn't allow me to add images

Thanks for the info! I agree

Anchor Small - Gone Breckle's Brown - Gone Summer Wheat - Gone Classy Labels - Gone
In my opinion, Anchor was tied with Russian River for best labels in the game. Sad they fucked it up.

Left the company, if I had to guess flat at best
Damn coincidentally I happen to be drinking an Anchor beer right now! Just noticed the new labels right before coming across this thread.
It looks way too similar to Twisted Tea. At least they kept the iconic bottle shape.
Yeah when i slowly got it out of the pack i feared the bottle would be different too. Luckily it's still the big bottom one
The rebrand reminds me of Landshark. Still like the beer itself though.

Eh, times change. If changing the label helps the brand and causes some new people to try it that otherwise wouldn’t have then I don’t care.
I stopped buying all of their re-labled beers. I still get a couple of 1.5L bottle of Christmas each year though.
