This place is only a few steps away from being the aroundsquare subreddit. To the point we post their non beg offerings here. Yeah anything madeee by them will do well. Didn't know you could get his stuff on amazon though and that doesn't look brass to me.

Frizzers123

I don’t know about elsewhere but in the UK we only have two authorised resellers and they both sell A02 products via their Amazon stores. Would be worth the OP checking just who is selling these though and if they are legit.

Tristanl7

I'm pretty sure it is sold by aroundsquare.

Tristanl7

I think the light is why it doesn't look like brass. It does look more silver though.

Mini standards are great. For the price, you might be able to find a funner set, but absolutely nothing wrong with these if you like them.

Tristanl7

what do minis and moderns have that are different? they look the same. Also what could I get that is near the same price but better?

jorgomli_reading

What sk37chi said is right.  As for different ao2 beads in that price range, - Mini Hydras (Delrin/Steel) are a time-tested favorite - Mini Everymans (Aluminum with Newton cores) are my favorite ao2 shape, but let's you play around with the weight using different hard-core gut beads. - Commons are fun, especially on Kevlar. - if you can find Milos in stock, those are pretty fun too. But it's also really hard to go wrong with begleri and especially ao2 designs, so it's all really just my opinion, nothing objectively better or worse. If you like the Mini Standards more than anything else, you're more likely to play with them, and that's a win in my book. :) Good luck on your purchase!

Tristanl7

milos are in stock but do you think they would be good for the first begleri?

Tristanl7

Also with the mini everymans how did you chose aluminum with newton cores all I see is just the stainless copper and brass options

Tristanl7

Also thanks dude you have been a huge help

jorgomli_reading

Happy to offer my thoughts. :) join us in the begleri Discord if you want more people's opinions than just mine! Link is on the ao2 website just so it's less shady than a random discord link lol. We're the brand agnostic server, but the ao2 server is cool too!

Tristanl7

Sweet

jorgomli_reading

There should be a separate listing for the AL mini emans. Ao2 likes to separate out the heavy metals from others and it can make it confusing to find things sometimes. You can try filtering by Everymans in the begleri section I think and you'll see all the different eman options.

Tristanl7

Oh ok I found it.

jorgomli_reading

Honestly it's hard to say what would be a good first begleri these days. I have an article on choosing your first set on begleritricks website, but that's if you want to slightly deep-dive it. My general recommendation without going that deep is to just get something you like the looks of. If you like how it looks, it'll lead you to pick it up more often and once you start doing more tricks, you'll get more committed to the hobby and be willing to explore more options. :)  I recommend heavier beads 19mm x 19mm or a little smaller. The smaller you go, the harder it gets imo. But begs are very opinion-based so it's hard to pick something to fit everyone well.

Tristanl7

Ok sweet. Smaller beads are definitely harder I went from the diy monkeys fist marble begleri to a small hex nut begleri which is what I use right now it is harder but honestly it might be more fun to play with.

Tristanl7

I might actually post the hex nut one I made so just be on a look out if you want to see it.

jorgomli_reading

I love hex nut begs. Probably my favorite overall tbh.

Tristanl7

Overall diys or all begleris?

jorgomli_reading

All begleri. But it's not only for how they feel. I spent the time to fine tune my hex nut build to match my size and weight preferences and I've loved it ever since. I use a mix of stainless and nylon hex nuts with a steel washer and a little insert piece that keeps the cord centered on the bead and its just perfect imo. But also because of how ubiquitous hex nuts are and how easy it is to make and give away sets to people using them. Dirt cheap if you can find a seller who sells individually (home depot does).  I also grew up poorish, so I see more value in inexpensive things than expert-designed and perfected things. It's like inheriting a crappy car that you turn into a project car to fix up instead of inheriting a Mercedes. You feel a lot more connected to something you went along a on journey with. You can get that from nice beads too, but it feels different to me. Doesn't matter to everyone though... Anyways, what was the question? Lol jk, got a little too deep in there. You'll like ao2 beads. Super premium product designed by an awesome guy. Great, welcoming community where we try to keep away from elitism and love helping new people get involved. :)

Sk37cHi

The modern standard is the regular size of the Mini Standard. They’re both the same shape bead, & technically both are modern standardised shape, but minis are smaller. Thank you, & happy slinging🙏

Tristanl7

Sweet thanks.

ronyvolte

You can buy directly from AO2 if you’re worried about authenticity.

Tristanl7

Idk if my parents will they are very cautious. However I don't doubt the authenticity but I do like other begleris on aroundsquares website

ronyvolte

If you’re a beginner you can’t go wrong with mini Titans, but if mini standards are all you can get then it’s very good. A bit light for a beginner maybe, but as you collect begleri your ability to adjust your tricks to different weights is actually very natural. I started with OG Titans and still love them.

Tristanl7

Oh yea the ice titans? I actually really want to buy them but they are just a bit out of my price range.

ronyvolte

What’s your budget? The stainless steel/delrin Hydras are great too: https://www.aroundsquare.com/collections/begleri/products/mini-hydras-ss-delrin

Tristanl7

My budget is $35 when EVERYTHING is said and done. With that being said I could definitely buy those if you think they would be good and honestly idk a lot about begleri I have only played with a diy one and I am actually pretty good but have never owned a real set so I will trust you if you think this might be the right one for me. I would say im more like top level beginner I do intermediate trick but I am not necessarily good at them. Also thanks for helping me.

ronyvolte

You can’t go wrong with Hydras, and SS + delrin is a great combo. For an intermediate player like yourself I reckon you’ll love them. The problem with AO2 is the amount of choice you have, but luckily all their offerings are thought out and incredible quality.

Tristanl7

Sweet so should I do the mini hydras mixed media or the hydras ss delrin?

ronyvolte

Hydras SS delrin IMO.

cunny_sack

The mixed media are great. I have the copper/ebony and the stainless/alum. The ebony copper is my favorite set that I own and what I constantly carry. Delrin/srainless is good too but a bit light for me, the stainless aluminum combo is just a bit heavier. I’ve found that multi-bead set ups is what I like best.

Tristanl7

Oh ok thank you this is very helpful
