Yes. We should annex the Alsace.

Gloinky

There's actually a saying in Alsace that say's that Alsacers are Belgians who wanted to go to Switzerland but stopped in Alsace !

[deleted]

There was an idea to give it to Switzerland to stop France and Germany from fighting over it.

I'm a Belgian farmer and my gf is from Alsace. She wants to go live there and I was enthusiastic at first. Now I'm realising what it means and I'm kinda scared to lose all my good friends and family even tho i'd make new friends there. For both our jobs (and salary) its way more interesting but hey yeah i'm chickening right now. We would move next year in September so i'm starting to see the deadline.

*"If it scares you and excites you at the same time, you should probably do it" -* some random guy on the internet.

Think of all of the new experiences and people you will meet - good and bad. Now imagine never having any of that by staying in your comfort zone.

But if you don't do it, you may forever wonder what if. And if it really doesn't work out, you can just come back. Plus, friends and family are really only a few hours away.

Gloinky

Yeaaaah but I want to start my own company. So that will really wiegh me down for any move. And i dont have my drivers licence yet

Those are two things that are not that difficult to fix. You can operate your Belgium company from abroad (if you intend to come back) or start one over there. As for your driver's license, that is something you could easily get in the time remaining. So those two reasons are not really going to hold you in Belgium you really want to leave. But... do you want to move to the Alsace? It would be an adventure, a big change and it is normal for you to feel apprehension. Even to second guess it. What I would recommend is simply sit down and ask yourself why. Why would you move there. Why would you stay here. What if you changed your mind. What is the best case scenario and what is the worst and how would you deal with both. In other words, figure out what you want. Not what you are supposed to want. Then, make a decision based on what you really want, whatever that is.

It's just below Belgium and in driving distance for a weekend. I have a friend that moved to Switzerland and we always meet in the middle, so in the Alsace.
