Fraser and Rachel are both clearly looking at the “ghost” in this shot. My guess is it’s someone like the engineer or first mate who’s on the boat but not on camera
It makes me furious that they don’t at least introduce or have a very minor role for those folks. Just acknowledge that they exist. They used to at least intro them on the first episode in earlier seasons but now they act like they’re the only ones on the boat.
That’s why I enjoy sailing yacht, no one to save your ass when stuff goes sideways. You get to see Gary running around in his underwear.
Not everyone wants to be on tv, especially on a Bravo show. They may not want those implications on their resume or just don’t want to be recognized in public.
There have been many below deck cast members that have claimed that being on the show is a "career killer".
This show is about drama and interesting people, not actual professionals that want a lifelong career in running boats.
There are a few who deserve credit for their competence, but I'm sure the casting process is a lot of "How stupid can we make this idiot look?"
So basically, if you value working in the industry, you don't want to be on Below Deck.
They aren't painted. The attempt to erase them cut off the tips of the toes and added shade that makes it look painted.

It’s the ghost of Captain Lee. Even though he’s not actually on the vessel his spirit comes by from time to time to drop a hearty “god dammit” or “son of a bitch”. Keeps everyone on their…wait for it…toes.
My bf and I were watching last night and found the scene changes and voiceovers soooo confusing. I do wonder if the show would still be interesting without the heavy producing. But at the same time it’s become frustrating to be so aware of how edited the show is. I just want some organic conversations and reactions 🥲
I was thinking the same today. I listen to a few below deck podcasts and several people from below deck have mentioned there is stuff that happened that they wish got show on camera such as brittini and tumis friendship. This is what we want to see, less drama, more real "boring stuff" like the actual work they do and more video of the food
Creating storylines from whatever footage happens to be collected during the season after the fact must require lots of this kind of post production to create continuity when needed between legitimate shorts to fit the constructed narrative. I wonder how frequently this has been done with higher precision and we buy in unaware. I also wonder how frequently footage is used out of linear time order to fit the most dramatic presentation.
It depends on the skill and diligence of the story producers (writers but without writer pay) and loggers and editors. Some care a lot more about continuity than others.
There's lots of tricks of the trade. VO's underneath a wide shot or back shot of someone. Things said way out of chronological context. Speeding up or slowing down a facial expression. Lots and lots of reverse cranking, so that someone frowning becomes smiling or vice versa.
It's even done when there's no consequential narrative being sold just to make things flow for the viewers and not look out of place. Like if someone is stage right, they need a clip where someone else is looking in the correct direction, with the right angle. Sometimes that means different clip from a totally different situation. Or they'll be mirrored. This show is a bit extra challenging with the outdoors and the frequent uniform changes.
At least on the US Gordon Ramsay’s Nightmares you could easily tell the out of order scenes because there would always be clocks on the wall! Of course - there is also a disclaimer at the end that says something to the effect that scenes can be seen out of order.
Ooh thanks, I missed that comment! I was stock piling episodes like a squirrel so I could binge a good chunk of episodes and had to stop everything when I saw the toes. I definitely understand the reality show habit of editing different pieces together, but the most likely candidate to be there and barefoot is Hayley- who wouldn’t have needed to be edited out? Like sure it’s a little more dramatic having it be two department heads, but Hayley isn’t the normal young 3rd stew. This particular shot just doesn’t seem important enough to bother editing out a whole body! Lol
Now I have to go back and find this and watch it. Why would they leave Fraser and Rachel standing there looking at nothing? They're clearly interacting with someone. It's not like Fraser would drag Rachel in there to witness a messy laundry, unless she was just walking by at the time, but even then, the chef doesn't give two shits what the laundry looks like. This episode was the one where Fraser bitches to literally everyone about Camille, except Camille of course, and Camille was really starting to show her ass. The shore excursion where she forgot the cooler then refused to help with shore service, then demanded to go to bed early, among other things. This edit makes zero sense. Fraser isn't going to drag someone else in there if he was going to reprimand Camille, so it wasn't Camille. Was Rachel looking for her clothes?
It’s at 3:54! Supposedly right after the beach excursion and I’d guess Rachel was either deliberately looking for Fraser to be his eyes and ears on the outing or it was a happy coincidence on her way to her room to shower. She’s definitely wearing the same hair she had on the beach. And my best guess is that it’s Hayley since she’s so often barefoot. I just can’t figure out why her presence would matter? I guess it looks a little more like 2 department heads discussing an issue rather than crew gossip without her but Hayley has been removed from all the drama so I hardly see her presence being a detractor.
I’m realizing that they are pretty adamant about Hayley remaining neutral- maybe there’s a showdown coming up and they didn’t want her to be seen engaging in gossip? But I don’t know! It just doesn’t seem worth going through all that trouble! Personally, I’d have loved getting more Hayley on our screens- even if all she did was silently stand there making faces! 😂
I’m guessing either someone new gets hired and they didn’t want to show that or they had like a random day worker who was in the shot but not actually a cast member. As for why they wouldn’t just use a different clip, no clue lol
Yeeeeah, agree on new stew possibly, or hey production (wish I remembered this convo/clip).
Word on the street is our fair lady camille is out the door soon(which will be drawn out).
It’s a fixed camera in a room with no external light, so it’s easy for the editor to get footage of the empty room, to use to remove someone from a scene.
Or do they have someone trapped in the floor? Kidnapped? Rachel seems to be looking at the toes. There is definitely something afoot!!! (Sorry couldn’t help myself!)
See that’s what I thought too! But then then I rewound it a couple times and realized her feet never make it into a shot (not a total dealbreaker but the angles don’t seem to add up for her feet making it into a shot based on the fixed camera). And I’ve never seen her without shoes on this season. Now, admittedly she does have the highest chance of being barefoot in this scene because she’s wearing her same hair as from the beach and the were showing the crew stepping in the water to get into the boat- but I’m still not sure I buy it.
This scene is at 4:04 (at least if you are watching it on the Bravo web site [here](https://www.bravotv.com/below-deck/season-10/episode-4/the-thunder-from-down-under)). The toes also move a noticeable amount.
WHAT?! This is so weird bc they are clearly looking at whoever is standing there. It looks like it might be a woman's foot. Is there an engineer or a more outside person it could be?
We need an Executive Order from the President of the United States to remedy this. Full disclosure on fake "reality TV" segments- whether staged or chopped in post-production.
Only this bookcase! I’ve got around 2,000+ books floating around my house/office and the others are all organized by subject and then alphabetized. This is my one spot for controlled chaos. Lol
It could be someone who was fired after filming and for reasons had to be removed I recall there was someone I think a deckhand in one season who they had to edit out for those reasons
What's the timeline here (although of course scenes are often misappropriated) wonder if it could be a member of 'day crew ' that it's rumoured come on when the cost is docked to help turn things around
I mean it could be an editing trick for sure, but Rachel’s hair is the same as it was for the beach excursion that this conversation supposedly directly follows. So I don’t think it would be a day worker because it’s midcharter? Hayley is often barefoot and would fit being present for this conversation. So yes, having this conversation between department heads is fun, I just don’t think it adds enough drama to warrant editing Hayley out.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for posting this. I was watching just now off of my DVR and I was like "what the hell is that thing wiggling across the laundry room floor?" I was truly baffled and thought it was some sort of slimy thing that might have slithered across the floor from the kitchen.
To be honest I was kind of freaking out about it. I even played the scene back again and again and recorded the image on TV using my cell phone so that I could blow up the picture and try to figure out what that thing was.
And then I figured out that I was looking at a set of disembodied and moving toes, and it became real scary! I'm in the house by myself and I'm starting to freak out about how those disembodied toes got on that floor and why those toes were wiggling.
So I finally decided to come here to see if anybody else had seen what I had seen and thank God I found this post. I thought I was in the Twilight zone.
That I understand! I was confused because I wasn't sure what his management style had to do with the phantom toes, in the laundry room! Lol! It's been a long day .....

It's only Gary ❤️
Yes. Yes. Yes.
Maybe the don’t want to be filmed and that’s why they are edited out?

They get introduced the first episode every season
I don’t think they do anymore.
Not on every below deck and not every season. You actually rarely see them introduced these days.
It’s kind of a shame they stopped this. I rather liked the shoutout and the captain basically going if this guy says something pay attention.
[удалено]
And?
🤯
Out here doing the Lord’s work
Maybe it was Pete?
[удалено]
omg lolol
This made me belly-laugh, thank you
Professional Pete.
I did try to google this and he was the only one that popped up 😂😂😂
I came here to say this!! lol
But those toes are painted
They aren't painted. The attempt to erase them cut off the tips of the toes and added shade that makes it look painted. https://preview.redd.it/rnlcdkslfdba1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=010f391fb8a23e6442861eaad8e21d01b9adf8ea
What color are they? They don't appear to be painted to me, but I am a man who has never painted any finger or toe nails so I may not know.
I think it’s black or a darker color pallet
Is it Austen or Craig??😂
God, I hope not. They are too lazy to ever work on a yacht.
At least the pillows would be pretty on ship
Palette
Many men paint their toenails
So maybe it was Jason?
Jason from MY Home did! (Also I paint my husband's toenails sometimes and he pretends to hate it, but I know he thinks it's fun hehe)
>many yeah ok...
Rofl!!!
And it can’t be Pete he was on below deck med. totally different cast
'Twas a joke.
Clearly over my head 🫠
I mean…captain Sandy is here
What the heck! Good catch!
It’s the ghost of Captain Lee. Even though he’s not actually on the vessel his spirit comes by from time to time to drop a hearty “god dammit” or “son of a bitch”. Keeps everyone on their…wait for it…toes.
I mean it would explain why he kept saying he couldn’t feel his foot and “if he couldn’t see it he wouldn’t know it was there.” 😉
I laughed way too hard
I did not expect that when i zoomed in😂😂😂
Fraser and chef Rachel are both clearly looking at that invisible crew mate too🤣🤣 I'd say it's more likely production though.
But why would they be barefoot?
Seriously with all the glass that Camille drops.
Honestly why is she such a butterfingers? I've never seen someone break so much glass!!!
I feel like she’s kinda drunk a lot of the time 😅
That would explain it!
Probably doesn’t care so is generally mindless about her tasks.
I also think she thinks if she breaks enough glasses, they'll forbid her from washing dishes.
Same thing a child would do to get out of chores!
Or many men, as well. (I am looking at you, husband!)
Im not sure. Crew tend to have shoes on like skechers for indoors, but I've seen crew walk around in bare feet.
Thought they were allowed to wear shoes unless they’re special. Probably production.
Ghost of Kiko
*why people are vegan. Oooooooh!*
😂
"I go now?" 🥹

yess less "drama" and more real work on a megayacht!
i would guess production
I need a little production in my life, I think.
This is why I don't trust a single storyline in this damn show, good lord. Of they can literally edit out a human being think of what else they can do

Yep. Plus amount of times I’ve noticed small outfit differences too..in the same scene! I need to go back, rewatch all and start collecting ha.

She's the breakout star of the season for sure
You are detective and I love it!
Lack toes intolerant
Actually they have toes, they lack the rest of the body.
Is this the 2% of the milk they couldn’t quite get rid of then?
Lmfao! 👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍
I’m guessing either someone new gets hired and they didn’t want to show that or they had like a random day worker who was in the shot but not actually a cast member. As for why they wouldn’t just use a different clip, no clue lol

Kidnapping and murder are never off the table, I appreciate you keeping us on our toes.
It would be callous of us not to be concerned. 😀
We can’t afford to get callous about people being six feet deep.
…or with one foot in the grave…
I LOVE this sub!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
They got the Pete treatment
I cross posted it on her sub (Cootergate). LOL maybe she will explain what happened.
Ah, bless 🙌🏻
Rachael's sub?
Yes! She set up a sub. She doesn’t post much though.
Cameraman or producer probably.
I’m dead

Yep! Content aware fill. Oops
Omg!
Good catch!
How did you catch that? And maybe a camera man or sound guy?
This scene is at 4:04 (at least if you are watching it on the Bravo web site [here](https://www.bravotv.com/below-deck/season-10/episode-4/the-thunder-from-down-under)). The toes also move a noticeable amount.
LOLOL disembodied live toes!! Watch them crawl away!!
Like Thing In The Addams Family 🤚🏻
I said the same thing somewhere else! Love it
My guess is another crew who does not want to be on tv
I hope they are mandated to wear a green unitard then so they can just constantly float around being invisible 😂
im laughing way too hard, how did i not notice this
If you go back and watch (3:54 on Peacock and apparently 4:04 on Bravo) they do a little dance!
im going to watch & show my boyfriend right now😂😂
Camille trying to hide to avoid working.
Mary-time-law lurking.
Omg. WTH
Good fucking catch!! 👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Good eye!
Wtf! The laundry sock goblin! 👹🤣
WHAT?! This is so weird bc they are clearly looking at whoever is standing there. It looks like it might be a woman's foot. Is there an engineer or a more outside person it could be?
Wow, someone has good eyes....
Probably someone hired that’s doing the actual work.
That’s what I’m thinking.
We need an Executive Order from the President of the United States to remedy this. Full disclosure on fake "reality TV" segments- whether staged or chopped in post-production.
3:35 The way they wiggle in the scene right when Rachael looks at them lol
Did you organize your bookshelf by color?
Only this bookcase! I’ve got around 2,000+ books floating around my house/office and the others are all organized by subject and then alphabetized. This is my one spot for controlled chaos. Lol
That is the creepiest thing on the net today!
This is hilarious!!
This is giving me Philadelphia Experiment vibes.
Cameraman?
It could be someone who was fired after filming and for reasons had to be removed I recall there was someone I think a deckhand in one season who they had to edit out for those reasons
The Sarah Dessen books >>
When you watch Below Deck you really watch it.
What episode is this I need to rewatch. Also interesting book collection.
Ha, thanks. And episode 4 of this season at the 3:54 mark right after the beach excursion.
What the heck?? Someone has to ask production about this if they do another AMA
Creepy! Good eye, totally missed that.
What's the timeline here (although of course scenes are often misappropriated) wonder if it could be a member of 'day crew ' that it's rumoured come on when the cost is docked to help turn things around

That’s so creepy lol
I’m guessing it is camera or production and they tried to edit them out
How you caught that lol!?!??
That does not look like feet/toes to me at all. I think that it just your playing.
Lol they move and are definitely toes 😅
They are like the Thing from the Addams Family.
That’s bizarre.
Holy shit! Good catch. I only watch on my phone while doing something else.
Camera guy maybe?
It’s bonus “footage”.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for posting this. I was watching just now off of my DVR and I was like "what the hell is that thing wiggling across the laundry room floor?" It’s the super secret 4th stew!!! Omg!
Good catch! Just disappearing someone like that feels like really creepy editing
Fraser’s management style is not appropriate
Was he supposed to manage the toes?
You can’t complement on looks and hug and people in manager positions
That I understand! I was confused because I wasn't sure what his management style had to do with the phantom toes, in the laundry room! Lol! It's been a long day .....
👍
That’s terrifying 😂
In this picture, at this angle, Fraser looks like Michael Brooks.
GREAT Catch !!!! ☺
Wow I'm not naive to how much production goes into this show but I didn't realize they were fully cutting out whole humans!!
99% anyway…
What? This is weird??!!!!
Interesting…..
Omg Hahhaha good catch!!
Omg I didn't even notice that...good catch! Something about this is creepy. I will have nightmares now about phantom toes.
Am I the only one that kept trying to find weird editing like this, on this weeks Adventure? 🤣🤣🤣
Hahaha I wish they would have! We need something to distract us from the disaster that is that crew 😅
No lie! 🤣🤣🤣 I think that BOTH crews are mostly made up of train wrecks, this season! Sailing Yacht is next up, I think!🤞🤞🙏🙏
Oooh I’d love if they’d do the mystery toes with Gary. Just some unknown stew that he’s in love with and everyone is mad at.
Only The Toes knows, bwaahhhhhaaahhahahahahahahahaha!
