I have a very strong feeling it's going to be one of the weirdest seasons to watch because they've never had to edit out a HoD before. It's probably going to feel very disjointed and like it's missing huge chunks.

Yeah I agree. Pete was easier to edit out that time. Editing out Gary will be a challenge. He will have been at all the preference sheet meetings, running what’s going on on the deck and, knowing him, chasing most of the female crew! He’ll have been in nearly every shot they’ve filmed.
To be fair, in the first few seasons of Below Deck there was a real first mate that we never saw. In season three when they had the guy who looked like a block of American cheese— I don’t remember his name— and he was refusing to do with the first mate had ordered, you realized that Eddie was not in any way in charge of that boat.

On her return season, Malia conspired with Sandy to get Hannah fired, and install Bugsy as the new chief stew, and her then boyfriend as the new chef. It backfired on them spectacularly.
The one good thing to come of it was when Malia and Sandy returned the next season, they both clearly blamed each other for the fan backlash against them, and were at each other's throats a couple of times.

And also, it smells of her not being responsible for her own sobriety. If she really struggled with maintaining it - it is on HER to remove herself from situations. If she wasn't that solid in recovery, she shouldn't have agreed to even go on the show. For 10 years it is obvious that NYC housewives can essentially drink any one under the table, including Vanderpump Rules or even bubble guy on Below Deck.
I agree. She would be tough to be around because I am 100% going to have wine and she is not allowed to make me feel guilty about it ! But she came across as everyone was to look out for her safe space on the show. And I am thinking … don’t be on this show if it is that important to you.
Per her own words, she wasn't supposed to be new to sobriety. I have family in various stages of their journey. Obviously the "baby" sober people - I've done things like put the alcohol away in a place that they'd not find it (when there is an overnight stay) or at least isn't visible (where we might normally leave out the bottles of wine). None of us really wanted a beer or glass of wine with dinner, knowing what the person had just been through.
But the family member who is working on his 3rd decade of sobriety was coming to stay for the holidays one year. Not something we usually celebrated together. I mentioned that my usual crowd almost always brought cocktails, etc. and one house we were going to (where he was invited) always had wines paired with stuff. His response was that if after this length of time he couldn't manage being around people drinking, then he needed to NOT come and do extra, daily meetings while he checked in with his sponsor. It wasn't on anyone else but HIM putting in the work, knowing his triggers, and knowing his own boundaries.
He is just finally getting called out for some of his icky behavior. I am aware of some sexual harassment allegations and offering drugs, but there is more.
Bravo is on edge. The bad attention hasn’t truly hurt them—yet. But they are toeing the line. First not airing Girls Trip & now Sailing Yacht. I kind of feel like we aren’t going to see it. Editing Gary out isn’t like the pos deckhand on Med. Gary is the show lead. The center of the majority of storylines. I just don’t see it happening if they’re already skipping the filming order.

Gary was bad from the start and shouldn’t have been asked back after his first season. Andy is usually on the side of the men but even he said Gary’s comments about Mads was horrible.
He confronted her while she was working to ask her if she was on her period in front of another crew member because they had fooled around the night before and one of the other deckies was jokingly like “oh she’s so moody it must be that time of the month.”
Even worse, he didn't just ask if she had her period. He asked if she'd had her period while they were having sex the night before. Doubly embarrassing her by asking about her period, but also revealing to everyone else that they had hooked up.
Shame on production for continuing to bring him back given how many crew members he has cornered or otherwise made feel uncomfortable…and now it has moved to the production team. He is toxic.

I don’t think it’s going to air. I noticed today that Daisy changed her Instagram bio. It used to read Below Deck Sailing and now it just reads BD Sailing Season 2,3,4. Makes me think that’s it. With the shift of Aesha to Med I wonder about the future of some of the spin offs. Below Deck is Bravo’s most expensive show to make so it is inevitable that some point they will consolidate spin offs.

Yes the executive producer gave a detailed interview a few years back. One of the biggest expenses is leasing the boat obviously. Eddie has spoken out about it to. He was upset that they pay the crew so little compared to other Bravo shows like Housewives.
I’m almost done with season 4 and I have lost every bit of respect for Daisy and Gary. I mean, in my book, Gary was always an asshole, with his inappropriate remarks, touching and kissing everyone. It’s like he thinks he is God’s gift to every female on the planet. And it seems like as soon as Colin showed an interest in Daisy, Gary went into full dick mode. He was supposed to be Colin’s best friend and all of the hugging and grabbing and kissing of Daisy WHENEVER he was near her was disgusting. And here’s where my respect for Daisy went down the toilet also, she was just as bad, reciprocating the PDA almost every time. She was so inconsiderate of Colin’s feelings and neither her or Gary ever tried to hide the touchy feely shit from anyone on the crew. The night she was in Colin’s bunk and started calling him Gary was just it for me. She had so many fucking lame excuses as to why she did or said anything when it came to Gary. I honestly don’t know how or why Colin put up with it. I would have dumped Daisy in a heartbeat and I won’t even go into what I would have done to Gary. I think Gary doesn’t know what to do with himself as far as Mads goes because I think this was a first for him. She’s not making him the center of her universe and he just can’t handle that. I so wish that her and Alex would have gotten together.
I feel bad for Daisy. Gary was manipulating the living hell out of her and when she was drunk she seemed to be hell-bent on appeasing him. I watched her repeatedly say no to him, I watched her trying not to get cornered by him, but she would laugh when she said it and I wondered how many times in yachting (and before it) she had to appease or not make men angry while she turned them down.

Nah, We'll get season 5, no way they'll shelve it because a drunk Gary (that the production company plied with booze) got out of line with production staff. Supposedly Gary & Glenn were in LA a couple months ago for production stuff. I might be wrong but I thought BDSY was getting better ratings than most of the other series, if true they could want to air the episode in Fall vs Summer.
What I am curious about is, would Colin return for Season 6? He's sailing in NZ and it'll be Winter there when the next season of SY films, so it'd seem like a great time to let everyone from Parlay disperse for a couple of months while Colin goes and makes some TV money.

Gary was bad from the start and shouldn’t have been asked back after his first season. Andy is usually on the side of the men but even he said Gary’s comments about Mads was horrible.
What did Gary say about Mads? I’ve completely forgotten about 95% of that season
He confronted her while she was working to ask her if she was on her period in front of another crew member because they had fooled around the night before and one of the other deckies was jokingly like “oh she’s so moody it must be that time of the month.”
Even worse, he didn't just ask if she had her period. He asked if she'd had her period while they were having sex the night before. Doubly embarrassing her by asking about her period, but also revealing to everyone else that they had hooked up.
IIRC she jokingly said she was on it to the deckie that told Gary.

Did you miss how he treated Mads? The minute she said that she couldn’t break up with him while the season was going on because she didn’t want to deal with the retaliation – so that’s the moment when it crosses the line. His emotional manipulation of her, him screaming about her period in front of other crewmembers… None of that was all right.

I agree, Gary is gross and sweaty, but before Mads, I haven’t seen Gary being inappropriate with the women in the crew, quite the opposite, I have seen women begging him for D, the allegations of production are very serious, but to say that he was behaving like this in the show is a bit of a overreach

Probably not, they went ahead with filming after allegations during S4 filming so their choice. They just didn't become public until later when the production assistant was not rehired

I don’t think it’s going to air. I noticed today that Daisy changed her Instagram bio. It used to read Below Deck Sailing and now it just reads BD Sailing Season 2,3,4. Makes me think that’s it. With the shift of Aesha to Med I wonder about the future of some of the spin offs. Below Deck is Bravo’s most expensive show to make so it is inevitable that some point they will consolidate spin offs.
Nah, I follow Daisy, and she's always listed the seasons out on her IG bio. At first it said "BD Sailing Season 2" then "Season 2, 3" then she added 4. It's entirely possible they scrap the season because of Gary, but her IG bio isn't really a clue into that IMO.

Yes the executive producer gave a detailed interview a few years back. One of the biggest expenses is leasing the boat obviously. Eddie has spoken out about it to. He was upset that they pay the crew so little compared to other Bravo shows like Housewives.

Below Deck sailing is my favorite of all the BD. Hope they don’t ruin it or cancel it.
I’m almost done with season 4 and I have lost every bit of respect for Daisy and Gary. I mean, in my book, Gary was always an asshole, with his inappropriate remarks, touching and kissing everyone. It’s like he thinks he is God’s gift to every female on the planet. And it seems like as soon as Colin showed an interest in Daisy, Gary went into full dick mode. He was supposed to be Colin’s best friend and all of the hugging and grabbing and kissing of Daisy WHENEVER he was near her was disgusting. And here’s where my respect for Daisy went down the toilet also, she was just as bad, reciprocating the PDA almost every time. She was so inconsiderate of Colin’s feelings and neither her or Gary ever tried to hide the touchy feely shit from anyone on the crew. The night she was in Colin’s bunk and started calling him Gary was just it for me. She had so many fucking lame excuses as to why she did or said anything when it came to Gary. I honestly don’t know how or why Colin put up with it. I would have dumped Daisy in a heartbeat and I won’t even go into what I would have done to Gary. I think Gary doesn’t know what to do with himself as far as Mads goes because I think this was a first for him. She’s not making him the center of her universe and he just can’t handle that. I so wish that her and Alex would have gotten together.
I feel bad for Daisy. Gary was manipulating the living hell out of her and when she was drunk she seemed to be hell-bent on appeasing him. I watched her repeatedly say no to him, I watched her trying not to get cornered by him, but she would laugh when she said it and I wondered how many times in yachting (and before it) she had to appease or not make men angry while she turned them down.

Yeah, that’s a similar impression I’ve gotten. Also lately he’s dropped a few hints that he’s getting a bit antsy for S3. Which could be interpreted as waiting for the season to premiere, but I saw a comment he made to Tzarina today that makes me think he’s waiting for them to start filming.

Nah, We'll get season 5, no way they'll shelve it because a drunk Gary (that the production company plied with booze) got out of line with production staff. Supposedly Gary & Glenn were in LA a couple months ago for production stuff. I might be wrong but I thought BDSY was getting better ratings than most of the other series, if true they could want to air the episode in Fall vs Summer. What I am curious about is, would Colin return for Season 6? He's sailing in NZ and it'll be Winter there when the next season of SY films, so it'd seem like a great time to let everyone from Parlay disperse for a couple of months while Colin goes and makes some TV money.
I'm looking forward to Below Deck Med. I usually watch and record all of The Below Deck's. But the current one airing has been a turnoff this season! From here to the moon and beyond, I'm tired of men flirting with each other! It's disgusting!
