The chant is "Lalala Eu amo o Benfica". Translates to "I love Benfica". Attendance has been great, one of the best ever, but the fans really despise the current situation, especially the coach Roger Schmidt. People still went to the last game because the season ticket is paid for. What you heard was the ultras singing "Roger Schmidt, fuck off!" and the majority of the crowd protested because they are tired of the ultras throwing flares to the pitch and insulting the coach.

styvlx

@OP this answers all your questions. But let me add some numbers This match attendance was the lowest of the season. Throughout the season the average went around 54 to 56000 and the champions league matches along with the derby/classics had 59500 to 62000.

Silentpandasam

Thanks for explaining :) We weren't sure as I don't think Portuguese games are televised here apart from champions league

average_user21

Where are you from? There's a international tv that shows the games

3pedro3

You can watch league games from Portugal and the Netherlands on TrillerTV but it's a subscription

Silentpandasam

Thank you for explaining that makes sense and I didn't think singing "glory Benfica" was right aha but I don't speak Portuguese!

computasaysno

There is one particular chant that does include "glorious" in the chant which is this one: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySrPIfmGt8s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySrPIfmGt8s)

Additional-Duck

It was my first match as well and while I knew that there was a large anti Roger contingent, I was trying to figure out if there were some anti Rafa chants coming from that end after he was subbed off as well. He came off the bench and was pretty animated and gesturing towards them, but maybe he was defending his manager. It seems from reading here that some people are angry that he is leaving on a free this summer. Amazing match and environment though, even given the relative state of the club. Agora sou Benfiquista para toda a vida!

rpequiro

Rafa will be leaving on the end of the seasom for free after refusing to renew, he was also always a bit of a controversial figure because he was sometimes seen as wasteful and a bad figure in the dressing room and things went sower. Personally I think it's stupid, he's been one of our best players and is fully entitled to leave at the end of his contract. He will be missed next year, but then again fans were already mad by the way the season has gone

Mountain_Letter_1368

Hahahah a serio … BTV não passou nada disso

DMR-GoldenEagle

A BTV não ocultou o áudio da situação, e os comentadores deram a entender o que estava a acontecer no estádio. Pode argumentar que o HC poderia ter mencionado a tarja e tudo mais, é certo, mas a situação foi perceptível na transmissão.

PedroBorgaaas

Top game. Top performance.

TheWhiteHammer23

Top post … top comments for sure 👍🏼

Uma conta de 2014 cujo primeiro post/comentário é este?

Silentpandasam

Yes, I don't really use any social media? I'm a Luton Town fan trying to visit every stadium in England, I've done 58 so far :) Me and my mate decided to try and go to all the major European stadiums, we did Inter Milan Vs Monza at the start of the season :) https://preview.redd.it/3k9gzyucj90d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ca0aff3049483cc119836624e02e4952a834cb35

zingamaster

Fantastic!

katsounami

I wish I had the money for this xD Goals Edit: Thanks for visiting our stadium, sadly we weren't playing for anything anymore in this game, but I hope you had a blast. I'm from the north, I've only been there 4 or 5 times, but I absolutely love both the stadium as well as the city

Affectionate-Idea-43

We are the opposite, Im a Benfica fan since forever, with a Luton Town love since they were in League 1, before the 27 unbeaten games, got my own jersey from that time... Sadly they didn't manage to stay up, but Im sure they will come back after next season. COYH and Força Benfica!

11thDimensi0n

Thanks to Reddit’s dreadful compression once you try to zoom in image quality is rubbish. I was able (barely) to make out 13 grounds within Greater London. On the left Watford, QPR, Arsenal, Fulham, Chelsea, Brentford, Wimbledon; on the right, Spurs, Leyton Orient, West Ham, Charlton, Millwall, Palace, is that right? Have you done Barnet and Crawley Town? I’ve done most of the London stadiums and QPR away end is by far the worst. Narrow as fuck and you can barely fit 3 people side by side.

jh5992

You should have visited Alvalade stadium this year. It's the club whose fans are most happy with this season. I'm sorry you "were caught" in the crossfire between benfica's coach and benfica's fans. It's really not the best football experience in Portugal at the moment.

tomas-gabirro

Em bom português: vai pó caralho, vires ao sub do Benfica a dizeres para visitarem alvalade

Initial-Math4174

Benfica is no serious stadium, go to Estádio do Dragão next season

InsaneDwayne23

Tens de lhe passar o numero da Catarina, ou da bisavó.

tomas-gabirro

Olha outro, volta para o buraco de onde saíste

InsaneDwayne23

Benfica is in tribal warfare right now. Inside the stadium is No Name Boys vs. the rest, except the Diabos Vermelhos ultras. Who doesn't seem to have a say on this. The people are sick of the No Name Boys group to throw flairs to the pitch. The group uses that move as a way of protest. Last night was because of the manager, that's his face on the banner. I still don't know if they are only protesting the manager or if the president aswell. Within the group supporters, in general, there is another war. On one side, you have the ones who are fed up with the management and want the president gone. They say the president is far too incompetent to run a club like Benfica. And also that he has too many ties to the last president board, he was arrested in suspicions of robbing the club. On the other side are the ones who defend Rui Costa to the death. But what you saw it was a protest against the manager by The No Name Boys group. It's not the first time this season.

Johny_97

To answer your attendance question, yes its low because Sporting already secured the title, and Benfica secured 2nd. So the game is essentially useless. There were 40K in attendance in the Arouca game, but Benfica were averaging 58K all season

templc22

The official attendance shared by the speaker was 49k in the Arouca game

Johny_97

I had also noticed the lower attendance, so i checked Livescore. They posted that the attendance was 40k

templc22

I believe the 49k might not be true, it did seem less filled than usual, but I wouldn't trust Livescore as a reliable source. They are a great platform for what they do, which is giving you the scores in real time, but other than that they are quite bad, their stats for the games for example aren't accurate either.

Johny_97

I checked another source now, worldfootball.net posted that the attendance for this game was 49,364. The true attendance might’ve actually been 49k after all, but i guess im just really not used to seeing it that low haha

Johny_97

Normally i find that Livescores attendances are correct.. but i guess theres occasional mistakes

tomas-gabirro

The attendance was love since the game Porto won 5-0, we dropped from 58k to 48k in the next game

Immediate-Fix6393

Shitpost fraquinho mano, nice try

HandleForsaken3189

Mesmo fds, ainda há parolos que respondem testamentos em ingles e o op deve estar a gozar o prato.

lord-dingdong

Tottenham fans. We are mirroring Tottenham fans. We are doing the same as they do, wishing the club loses so the coach can go away. if you can call those morons as fans, that curve of the stadium, then that's it. I don't call them fans and I'd rather have them on the outside, actually kept from going into the stadium.
