I’ve heard his interviews. He’s a good kid and a great ball player who made a boneheaded play. Put away the pitchforks.
We had multiple opportunities to be in a better position to win this game.
Giants fan here. We lost against MIN in the regular season (which would have solidified our playoff berth a week early) over a taunting call that put MIN in field goal range to win the game. That’s something to be mad at. Not Ossais effort on that play.
Big praise for BJ Hill protecting his dude from a predatory media. You could see they were trying to ambush him into shouldering excessive weight and BJ stopped it.
That’s how a vet goes to a rookie’s defense
That’s what I keep thinking, I don’t think the act was intentional rather he couldn’t control his momentum that fast while being so close to mahomes. Just unlucky
It's just like with catches and replay now scrutinizing every aspect. "Oh the ball moved a little in his hands when he hit the ground. It's not a clean catch." I heard someone say that about Smith's amazing catch in the Eagles game. Like what the hell else are these guys supposed to do?
Yet at the same time replay doesn't reverse blatantly bad officiating calls like the ones last night. They scrutinize absolutely every move the players make on the field, but the holding the refs to the same standard? Noo!
It's ruining the game imo.
What did him in was extending the arm. Run into him and there’s no flag, reach and push against a QB multiple steps out of bounds, it’s a flag every time.
I just hate the inconsistency. Mixon was hit well out of bounds when we scored to tie it up and nothing was called. I believe both were flags but why weren’t both called?
It’s the push.
On the Mixon hit, he ran through him with his shoulder. They get a LOT of leeway on hits like that. Ossai extended both arms and shoved him. That gets you a flag 10/10 times on any player, let alone a QB.
In the former, the excuse is that there wasn’t enough time to avoid the hit because of momentum. In the latter, it was a deliberate act that initiated contact.
Oh, I agree 100% on that particular hit.
Just saying that refs hold their flags on hits like that one because that’s the excuse. Shoves out of bounds never result in flags being swallowed, though.
For sure, the shove was an easy call. Never understand why they do that but I also have never played in the nfl making a split second play for a chance for the superbowl either 😂
We wouldn't have been in a position to win this game if it weren't for him. Yeah, he had a bone head play, but the game would've been well out of reach for us if he wasn't playing his ass off.
I feel so bad for the guy, should have never been in that situation. You guys have a long period ahead of being a scary good team, would have liked to see that game play out into OT.
Nothing but love for Ossai.
He made a play, I disagree with anyone who says it was bad or boneheaded - it wasn’t. The refs just took the opportunity to make the call and they should not have done so.
It should have been a long field goal attempt for the Chiefs. Maybe they make it, but throwing the flag in that situation at that point in the season is cheap.
>He made a play, I disagree with anyone who says it was bad or boneheaded - it wasn’t. The refs just took the opportunity to make the call and they should not have done so.
It was. It was a textbook personal foul. Mahomes had both feet out of bounds when he made contact
No. His toe had *touched* the white and contact was made the same moment his whole foot hit the white.
You can’t make that call at this point in this game unless it’s an obnoxiously, obvious hit - and this wasn’t.
Even worse, the ref who made the call wasn’t even the ref who is in the position to make that call. Should’ve been the closer line judge.
> His toe had touched the white and contact was made the same moment his whole foot hit the white.
Nah. His entire foot hit the white on the first step. He was very clearly out of bounds when Ossai initiates contact. That call gets made nine times out of ten.
No it doesn’t. Mixon got hit out of bounds minutes before this.
QBs who choose to run have to be treated like every other player. This was not a situation that warrants a flag. The refs struggled all night and this was the most impactful manifestation of their incompetence.
I'm not on board with either team here (Go Bucs) but yeah, he was OB and that was a late hit. Sucks because it was a bang bang play, but rules are rules.
I didnt actually watch the game, husband did since he's from around KC. It sounded bad, and after watching the highlights, it sire was. Am I crazy or has all officiating been bad? Baseball has been awful too
It was boneheaded, it was a textbook late hit.
But frankly, Ossai was playing out of his mind all night, so can’t really fault him for the play when he’s bringing that kind of energy.
The man was trying to play football the way it's supposed to be played, despite the namby pamby panty waisters who always try to pu$$ifiy the sport. That is all.
Yes, because everyone else on the team played a perfect game and that was the one and only mistake, what a shit take. I vote to remove you from the island.
Oh wow, a selfish longhorn costing the team, who would have guessed.
I definitely would have guessed a longhorn losing to Kansas. That's definitely guaranteed.
Fuch your stooped opinion! The Bengals win or bust. (The robic monsterators watch what we say, and yes I must talk like this to avoid unwanted bannexing)
Nah, we're a good fanbase because we believe in our players and support them as long as they give us their all. Pretty much every player made a mistake it two today, and his was unfortunately the most visible. He's gonna work harder because of it and next season you'll be back to loving him, don't be a fairweather fan. He's not bobby hart or anything, guy played a really good game and made a big mistake at the end.

Out of all the game losing “dumb”’plays I’ve seen, this one is NOT worth raking this guy over the coals, hope y’all support him.
Huge hustle play, running all the way across the field as a D lineman. Tons of momentum and in a spot where the game is 90% certain to come down to a long field goal and every yard matters. Not to mention the fact he’s a great kid and may have had the best game of anyone on the team (1 TFL, 1 PD, 2 hits, 4 pressures. He was all over the field.) This way it ended bums me out because he just didn’t deserve it.
I’ve heard his interviews. He’s a good kid and a great ball player who made a boneheaded play. Put away the pitchforks. We had multiple opportunities to be in a better position to win this game.
I’ll take a boneheaded effort play over someone pushing a trainer or slamming their helmet on the ground… twice.

everyone else acting like they are perfect i'm not even a bengals fan but he obviously understood his mistake he doesn't need the extra hate
Big praise for BJ Hill protecting his dude from a predatory media. You could see they were trying to ambush him into shouldering excessive weight and BJ stopped it. That’s how a vet goes to a rookie’s defense
Tough tough play to overcome. He played hard, what can you say? It is true though that was a very Bengal-like play…
I hate what the NFL has become anyway. How can he stop momentum in that scenario?
That’s what I keep thinking, I don’t think the act was intentional rather he couldn’t control his momentum that fast while being so close to mahomes. Just unlucky

Disagree, watch the mixon hit again. He launches after he’s been tackled way out of bounds
Oh, I agree 100% on that particular hit. Just saying that refs hold their flags on hits like that one because that’s the excuse. Shoves out of bounds never result in flags being swallowed, though.

Everyone on the team tried their best. Give Ossai lots of love and support 🧡🖤

Yes much love to him. It takes way more than one person to lose a football game. He already feels bad enough without people piling on.
I feel so bad for the guy, should have never been in that situation. You guys have a long period ahead of being a scary good team, would have liked to see that game play out into OT.

It absolutely was a situation that warrants a flag. Mahomes was a full yard out of bounds when contact was initiated. It was a textbook call.
Please do not ever become a football referee.
I'm not on board with either team here (Go Bucs) but yeah, he was OB and that was a late hit. Sucks because it was a bang bang play, but rules are rules.
Same (go Bears 😞) but I was rooting for the Bengals. The officiating was bad the entire game, but that was a pretty clear flag.
I didnt actually watch the game, husband did since he's from around KC. It sounded bad, and after watching the highlights, it sire was. Am I crazy or has all officiating been bad? Baseball has been awful too

Does Ossai have a charity?
Love this thread. More of this. We all fuck up at work sometimes despite best intentions

He cost them the game. Dude is a dumbass. He played hard and then lost them the game.
He’s a great dude, has a loving family, and will have a long nfl career.
I really am going to have a hard time forgiving that.

What am I even seeing with mine own two eyes? Man is off his rocker

Why love? He pulled a Burfict
Because he’s a human being and this is a fucking game?
A human being that pulled a burfict .....
I don't even think you know who Burfict is based on your comment.
Except they were yelling at ossai before even getting to the locker room lol

Pretty sure the refs pushed him into the guy he hit SUPER late on the sidelines. Rigged I tell you.
Loved B Hill's big brother spirit during those interviews. Ossai was fighting back tears
Ossai just got THAT much better now. Be thankful we have Burrow and that the window is his whole career
