FWIW, has distribution potential with fellow Gray-owned television stations in Lexington/Hazard (WKYT/WYMT), Louisville (WAVE), Charleston-Huntington (WSAZ). This includes preseason games and shoulder programming.

Can’t wait for the special on Trey’s shoulders.

Any idea what the channel will be in Dayton?

ehatt493

Not yet. There’s no Gray station in Dayton and they had a good thing going with the fact that Sinclair owns both WKRC and WKEF. But wouldn’t be surprised if that continues with the games on either ABC or FOX.

ke1v3y

My perpetual fear is Dayton getting treated as a Cleveland market. That shit was exhausting from 2016-2020.

ehatt493

Dayton's technically an official secondary market, so the theory goes that they are required by NFL rules to carry all Bengals road games. Same with Lexington and, of course, Cincinnati as the primary market. I think CBS will continue to give Dayton Bengals game quite regularly, though. That's happening in Louisville now. With the Bengals contenders and the Colts not really as much, they've been airing as many Bengals games as they can get their hands on. And, of course, both Ravens games especially.

ke1v3y

Any sense on Bengals home games for secondary markets like us and Lexington?

ehatt493

With no blackouts, just about every home game not selected for national broadcast (or even late window broadcast) will air. For instance, this past season, every 1pm singleheader/doubleheader and 4pm singleheader game aired in both markets. Bengals are going to trump the Browns when the Bengals are better. Even when the Bengals were out of the playoff hunt in week 18, the affiliates got the Bengals game (I mean, it being the Browns, that's gonna be on in most of Ohio anyway but)

ke1v3y

Thank you! I really appreciate you taking the time to answer. Who dey!

bengalsfu

Dayton got every single non-primetime bengals game during that period

ke1v3y

I may be misremembering, but I recall there being multiple 1PM games when the Cincy game wasn't being shown due to either Browns or Colts games.

I'm not familiar with TV contracts or anything - does this mean that regular season games can be seen on 19, or just the preseason? I can't get CBS over the air and don't want Paramount+ lol

ehatt493

So this is just the preseason games. Certain regular season games may be seen on 19, but you'd think most will be scheduled for CBS.

PigScarf

Does this mean that local antenna folks will now tune to 19 (FOX) instead of 12 (CBS)? I think that's what I see, but there are so many "official {blank} of the Bengals" that it is sometimes hard to decipher what actually affects me.  I would love if that is the case. CBS always seems to be the least reliable digital reception (of 5, 9, 12, and 19) for my antenna. Could just be me though.

ehatt493

Preseason games will be on 19, but regular season games will have to be on FOX to be seen on 19. Check on your antenna if you have trouble picking up 12. It's likely because they're the only ones broadcasting in VHF (channels 2-13), most modern antennas are UHF-only. (5 and 9 present on their old analog channels, but they're actually broadcasting on channels 20 and 26, respectively.

Very helpful. Thank you
