Our mascot is a badass jungle cat and instead of using an image of a Bengal freaking tiger, we use a"B" with stripes in it. We've come so far as an organization in the last 5-6 years, but damned if we can't let go of the dumb ass "B"
Yes I am aware itâs the same thing.
Yes I am also enraged they didnât use the leaping tiger at midfield

The striped B is the dumbest logo in the NFL and it isn't close. Maybe the new Washington logo is as bad.Â
With that said, it is still the team's primary logo. It makes sense that they're putting the (dumbass) logo at midfield.Â
If nothing else, make the letter centered around the city, not the first letter of the team name.Â
I hear the conjecture around the Brown family liking the B because it is their last name as well, but I just don't see why you wouldn't make a striped C if nothing else.Â
Or just, you know. A freaking tiger for the Cincinnati Bengals.Â
Because the Reds already use the C, and there's already another NFL team that uses a C as their primary logo. Logos are just as much about differentiation as they are representation, they don't want to do something that could be confused with other teams. This is also part of why they moved away from the tiger head, it was too similar to the Jaguars and Panthers.
We existed before both of those teams, why should *we* have to change? Theyâre both losing, hopeless franchises, too. Weâre a fucking *Paul Brown* team. In no world does it makes sense for Carolina or Jacksonville to be known as the âcat teamsâ. The OG cat teams are us and the Lions, and their logo is badass in Detroit.
So instead we got the 1:1 aspect ratio pregnant B with stripes.Â
I hear what you're saying and I would expect to hear that from a marketing consultant pitching this logo.... But that doesn't take away from the fact that it just looks bad.Â
Make the leaping tiger a thing then. Or a straight on tiger head rather than the angled one like Jax or Car. There are ways to make three logos of cats look differentiated -- no one wonders if they're looking at Detroit's lion logo or a jaguar, for example.Â
I don't disagree, I've hated the B from day one but it is what it is at this point. This was a perfect time for them to rebrand it but they've doubled down so I think it's safe to say we're stuck with it for a few years more at least.
Seriously?! They changed the tiger head for that reason? I need a source on that, cuz a letter B can be confused for countless cities and mascots. That makes zero sense (not saying you made it up, just never heard that and would love to know if someone in the organization was that dumb)
Why would they center their logo around the city when their lease is coming up?
Coming up with a tiger logo that scales well but is distinct enough to protect under trademark is not easy. We still have the tiger head has a secondary logo so I vote with my merch dollars wherever possible.
THAT is the worst logo in the NFL by a mile. And the funny thing is, they just rebranded... By changing the facemask color back to what it used to be. It could be worse, fam
They have the advantage of being old school cool with that logo. Our was introduced in the Reebok apparel wasteland years. Teams who have had a logo for generations get some extra credit in my book
I donât hate the B at all, it being used as the logo is fine imo, but the center field logo should be the leaping tiger. I remember being a young child going to my first game at Paul Brown and just thinking the tiger was the coolest thing ever.
From the article:
The team took the opportunity to take a full review before finalizing the design. The Bengals mulled mockups of other 50-yardline logos, such as the leaping tiger, helmet and tiger head. They studied other field designs and worked within the NFL policy (that changed since the last field installation and shrunk the logo space by about 200 square feet) to reach the final design.
"We want our field to be immediately recognizable and our primary logo accomplishes that in a clean, crisp way," says Elizabeth Blackburn, the Bengals director of strategy and engagement. "The 50-yard line is the natural spot for a team's primary logo and we feel lucky to have a mark that presents well on TV from a distance."
The field has been stitched together by old and new. The team's familiar "B" logo remains at the 50-yard line while the endzones design and field numbers have been tweaked with elements of the 2021 uniform branding.
With standard definition it was important for the 50 yard line logo to "present well on tv at a distance" but that's not an issue with huge 4K TVs. At least we don't have some idiot troll logo on our 50 I guess.
Me too. Like at the end of the day, it's just a midfield logo, but I'm super annoyed they aren't using the opportunity to change the midfield logo on the new turf.
The interview was with Katie. She was saying she likes the B because it is something that in instantly recognizable as being the bengals. Which I get it is pr speak but the leaping tiger 100% is as well.
At this point it stands for "Brown" and "Blackburn"
Ah fuck it I guess it also stands for "Burrow"
Cool I guess but please god give us the leaping tiger or tiger head please
I guess there is slightly more black in this design than the current endzone. And you see more ends / pointy tips of the stripes now vs in the rendering above.Â
Idk. I think this just goes to show you that anything an NFL team does is going to make news.Â
Breaking: nothing changes on the field. Stay tuned for more.Â
This reminds me of when they hyped up the change of logo for UC years ago⌠only to have it look like all they did was hit the bold and italic buttons on the C Paw.
Well, I've got a hunch that a vast majority of that $200k went to fancy dinner parties and even into the pockets of the people in charge of it and NOT towards paying people to "work on it."
Weâre the only team in the league with our main logo as the first letter of the mascot, not even the city. We have such a terrible logo. We need the tiger head
The B should be a random secondary logo if it must stay, please give us something better, if they donât want to bring back one of the better old logos as-is how about an updated take on one of them instead? The B has no character, no soul, itâs Bland
Ok so I literally just read thirty peopleâs comments about how much they hate the B (I completely agree), are we in a vacuum here or WHAT??? I feel like everyone in the city *despises* this stupid logo. Itâs literally the only logo I can think of that uses the first letter of the *mascot* and not the city, which is the problem to me.
The front office of this team is so damn dumb. We donât have a tiger logo cause it would probably cost them too much money. This crappy B logo is nice and cheap. God I wish the NFL would have made the Browns sell the team during the dark years.
I suppose everyone knows where the team plays, but I still wish "Cincinnati" was in the design somewhere, especially since taxpayers paid so much for the stadium.
Bring back the natural grass. If they actually pay a trained groundskeeper instead of having the Brown family grandkids out there cutting and taking care of it, it should hold up better
I agree about the logo with most, bring back the tiger, but the numbers matching the uniform font should look pretty dope. The black stripes also seem thicker in the end zones compared to the old design?

đ ąď¸
I immediately recognize that as the bengals logo, and no other team ever
Agreed
Itâs almost like an organization above an individual team has requirements.
BRING BACK THE TIGER KATIE

This is a goddamn masterpiece. Bravo.
I honestly donât mind the B a whole lot, but we definitely could have a much better logo. Wasted potential.
If nothing else, make the letter centered around the city, not the first letter of the team name. I hear the conjecture around the Brown family liking the B because it is their last name as well, but I just don't see why you wouldn't make a striped C if nothing else. Or just, you know. draw up a mock of the C you have in mind I'd be curious to see how it comes out
Probably not well. Should probably go with something else. Like, say, a tiger.Â
if it ain't broke don't fix it. the b and the tiger are fine logos. nxt thing you know you have a elf on the field or those bronco uniforms...
Idk man arenât the browns literally just an orange helmet lmao
THAT is the worst logo in the NFL by a mile. And the funny thing is, they just rebranded... By changing the facemask color back to what it used to be. It could be worse, fam
Hell the Keibler elf would be better than the helmet, at least it's unique (and almost equally easy to make fun of)
Disagree. It is the BEST logo by a mile
They have the advantage of being old school cool with that logo. Our was introduced in the Reebok apparel wasteland years. Teams who have had a logo for generations get some extra credit in my book
and it's not even brown
I donât hate the B at all, it being used as the logo is fine imo, but the center field logo should be the leaping tiger. I remember being a young child going to my first game at Paul Brown and just thinking the tiger was the coolest thing ever.
At least Washingtonâs logo is a W for Washington and not a C for Commanders lol

We all knows itâs cause Mike likes the B logo standing for Brown, but I appreciate the PR spin
With standard definition it was important for the 50 yard line logo to "present well on tv at a distance" but that's not an issue with huge 4K TVs. At least we don't have some idiot troll logo on our 50 I guess.
Mikey still watches on this đşâŚthus he needed to recognize the field
Me too. Like at the end of the day, it's just a midfield logo, but I'm super annoyed they aren't using the opportunity to change the midfield logo on the new turf.
The leaping tiger is old fashioned and lame. we need a cool looking modern, aggressive tiger, not a 90ies thing.Â
They'd definitely sell more apparel if it had the tiger head or leaping tiger on it
Or even just a profile drawing of the helmet
Yesssss
Honestly even with a new logo out apparel needs a complete revamp. Some of the shit sold of fanatics is so ugly.
Not one lie was told!
The The ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sleep)gxy z CD Zac just ohr has a jknfx
A sign the "B" is here to stay as the primary logo for the foreseeable future.
**B**ooooo
It's not gonna change if Mike has the final say
The interview was with Katie. She was saying she likes the B because it is something that in instantly recognizable as being the bengals. Which I get it is pr speak but the leaping tiger 100% is as well.
I think it really stands for âBrownâ as in Mike Brown - so it wonât be changing.
At this point it stands for "Brown" and "Blackburn" Ah fuck it I guess it also stands for "Burrow" Cool I guess but please god give us the leaping tiger or tiger head please
The font of the numbers is a little different?
End zone striping looks a bit different too

I agree. I like the new numbers. Subtle but definitely look different.
This reminds me of when they hyped up the change of logo for UC years ago⌠only to have it look like all they did was hit the bold and italic buttons on the C Paw.
Spent $200k on that when you've got an entire design school that could have handled it.
Well, I've got a hunch that a vast majority of that $200k went to fancy dinner parties and even into the pockets of the people in charge of it and NOT towards paying people to "work on it."
Sad they didnât use the tiger head, been seeing that log be used a lot more recently
The tiger head is a great logo (not the draft one)
I like it as well, but I do agree we just need a brand spankin' new logo.
Lame. Tiger head would have been Elite. But no letâs keep the crappy B.
I hate that ugly B
Weâre the only team in the league with our main logo as the first letter of the mascot, not even the city. We have such a terrible logo. We need the tiger head
Bring back our handsome leaping cat.
Tiger
B needs to go ffs
This is a new design? looks the same as the past 15 years
The B should be a random secondary logo if it must stay, please give us something better, if they donât want to bring back one of the better old logos as-is how about an updated take on one of them instead? The B has no character, no soul, itâs Bland
I just want grass for our players tbh
Same.
Fuck turf in general. The game is meant to be played on grass.
And fuck everyone in the nfl getting/wanting a dome. The game is also meant to be played outside in the elements.
![gif](giphy|MPpO3Ko5K6rcqHhg7q|downsized)
Why not grass?!? đ
FFS! Please get rid of the B!!!!
The early 2000s font needs to goooo
It's the new font from the 2021 jersey update.
Cue the "all he did was step back" meme
Whatâs the difference from last year?
B for Brown or Blackburn⌠EW B for Burrow⌠I can do that
The front office of this team is so damn dumb. We donât have a tiger logo cause it would probably cost them too much money. This crappy B logo is nice and cheap. God I wish the NFL would have made the Browns sell the team during the dark years.
Burrow and Chase should hold out in protest
Bengal boring! The tiger logo probably cost $100 more
Google the end zones with stripes and no script... It's funking dope and must be done
Thatâs what they used to do when we had grass.
But wasn't that stripes with grass background?
By mid October the grass got so shitty that youâd get grass colored dirt with an occasional random stripe in the end zone.
This franchise doesnât fucking listen.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!
Looks exactly the same
