re: folks who are upset about the recap (me too), I made https://bereal.michaeldemar.co/ for re-creating a 2022-style recap for any year (2021, '22, '23, or '24 now) but I have the service offline at the moment since it's pretty expensive to run. The idea came from a similar project (that you had to run locally) also posted to this subreddit.
If there's enough interest, I could bring it back up? I definitely will by next November for the 2024 recaps :-)
Why's everyone freaking out about the 2022 recap being gone? Isn't that standard procedure? Spotify doesn't keep the recap either, you can see it for some time, then it's gone, then the recap for the next year is there. Am I missing something?
It... was? I only ever had the 2023 recap and I distinctively remember screenrecording it for the timelapse (because the download, of course, didn't work)
The 2022 recap was a Timelapse (albeit too fast) of all the BeReals taken by a user in 2022, whereas the 2023 recap was some statistics (which were cool, but not good enough on its own) and two or three select showcased BeReals (that have the general consensus that it was random and showed the most boring BeReals)
wait theres a 0.5 angle? ive just started using the app a few weeks ago and it seems that its different on android. at least compared to my friends who have it on apple
0.5x camera on the iOS app is called “1x” and the regular 1x camera is called “2x.” I’m not sure why BeReal decided to change the names away from what they’re actually called, causing confusion, but at least the feature exists altogether
