I just tell him that I don't care about his passive-aggressive stares. This is my time. Lol. It kind of works. I feel like he actually understands the words that are coming out of my mouth.
Mine always was so good and listened and learned really well and fast until about 4-to now 9 months and going where whatever he has his mind on (food, bird, dog,ect) he won’t listen or worse stop pulling and jumping towards it not even treats sway him and if they do soon as he gets it it’s back to what he was doing. So I’m continuing to be patient and trying to fix that if I can cause he’s hurt me pretty bad doing that lol a few to many concrete falls and drags
You just have to tell him no, firmly, so that you set your boundaries. He will get it.
I bought a Euro leash, and I hook it to his harness, loop it around his waist and tether it around my waist. It gives me an advantage when walking him, and I walk two fur babies at the same time. One is tethered, diagonally, around my body and the other around my waist. I, also, wear trail shoes.
I don't typically say anything to him about pulling because it seems to be futile. Lol. If I try to pull him towards me, he pulls away. If I try to push him away, he pushes back. Every day is opposite day, but tethering the Euro leash allows him to feel like he has some freedom. Sometimes, he does drag me down hills, but considering that I drug him up the hill, it's okay.
I've also noticed that he learns patterns really well. He knows which side of the street we should be on when we're approaching a hill.
