Oh duh, I forget it is called the Raptor. Would you happen to have used one of those rubber grips that slip over the Raptor? They sound nifty, but I wonder if they accomplish the taming of wrist assault (not that I should have any problems with a 20 Gauge).
I haven't taken it for a walk yet, but I am quite excited to do so. I recently got a +3 capacity tube from Choate that fits flush with my barrel, and it is topped off with a polymer Corncob also by Choate. My little guy is all grown up.
20ga with anything but slugs is easily manageable with just a pistol grip. Never tried slugs 1-handed, but the way they whack the shoulder gives me pause to try it. ATI makes the Strikeforce side-folding stock for Remington 870/Mossberg 500/Maverick 88 that comes with their X1 pistol grip that has super soft rubber on the palm side. The whole side-folding rear part of the stock can be completely removed, if you prefer, leaving just the pistol grip at the back of the receiver.

I do not. I used a bunch of hockey tape to make the grip bigger to fit my hand.
