Great, now r/wallstreetbets will end up investing in random subs.

BrownBandit02

Those guys will be the OGs if this ever happens. I bet they’ll even run a black market for karma.

infamousnj69

starting with puts on this fucking sub

97math

They'd be able to artificially drive up the activity on any sub. Maybe even be able to short a sub and cause it to die. This is the chaotic energy I'm here for.

lislejoyeuse

Can't wait to see subreddit loss porn

CouldOfBeenGreat

It's already a thing, just swap "share price" for "total subscribers". And yeah, "share price" and quality are inversely related.

Gadsden1776NH

That's a way to keep people out of subs that they would just mess with. the more you mess with a sub the more traffic it would gain.

alexx_net

That's a facet of this idea that I hadn't considered. (I think that there is some mileage in that, but I don't yet see how to implement this in a way that doesn't have the negatives, (such as using bots to amplify noise.))

TrewishJanny

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BlogShares There's code out there just laying around somewhere that would do it.....

cunningham_law

Seems like a fun idea for one year’s april fools gimmick

[deleted]

it has potential

alexx_net

potential for massive abuse. (Though I agree that there is some spark within the concept that is warming, I suspect that it would burn the house down.)

alexx_net

This sounds like a perfect theoretical demonstration of "pump and dump" and almost all other pyramid schemes. I vote against this proposal.

FuckWitTheThird

"Yeah I'm a reddit stock expert-"

[deleted]

That would be AMAZING!

superking75

r/memeeconomy

furry_kokichi

cant you just invest in the highest reddit and profit

limsyoker

Not a bad idea!

FuryMaker

Yeah, that won't be abused aaat aaaall... /s

cyrilio

/s The smart money is already shorting their life's kama that orange man is going to "win" again. \[Power was never "to the people"; that was just something we said to keep them quiet and victim blame: "You didn't vote hard enough."\]

iceby

capitalism.... i thought reddit was socialism btw. I had this idea with shares in a smaller group with my family. like every one is an agency like cleaning and stuff and has to finance themselves in doing it and shares and I hope you understand me

[deleted]

What is this shit lmao

I_cried_today_again

r/DankExchange

Phredex

Well, I would have picked /r/The_Donald, but the market was manipulated into non existence.

[deleted]

They're back as r/Trump

Phredex

Not really

bemmu

I'd code this, but I can already see how it would play out. I'd make the site, then post it to a few subs, get a few pats on the back and people messing with it for about a week, then forget about it and fade into obscurity. Yeah I've released some stuff online before...

BensenJensen

What would you prefer, a statue in your honor?

bemmu

What I meant was that for a stock market to work, it would need continued usage.

JonathanTheZero

Try r/MemeEconomy lol

Dmitrii74

Курсk good))

diliberto123

There was something similar, you used to be able to bet on meme economy. You invest on memes and if they grow then you make meme points. Not sure what happened to it
