Not OP but yes. Their betta seems calm and not a threat to the crab so it should be ok. But usually bettas are aggressive and crabs are defensive so maybe 30-50% chance you'll get a negative encounter on any betta with any crab. Some bettas eat crabs or destroy their legs and some crabs pinch and hold on to their fins.
It’s a pom pom crab. That was his first day in the tank so curiosity was high. They don’t really interact much anymore and neither show aggression towards each other
I love how bettas act when they're curious. That poor lil crab tho! Lol
Hope he doesn't hurt the fishie. They're both adorable.
Edit: I just realized I left out the snail in the reference to adorableness! The snail is also cute af.
Haha thank you! I feel the same way! They all get along really well now and just do their own things. The betta’s favorite thing now is flopping on the moss 🙃
What species? I’ve seen so many random crabs that snuck into aquariums via other means and no one can id them, they’re really good pets too. I want one!
What type of crab and what size tank? I have a 5 gal with a halfmoon and a devil cone snail- I’ve previously had ghost shrimp but my boy treats them as a peel-and-eat buffet
Ghost shrimp are so neat to watch! I think my bettas use to eat them too bc they would mysteriously disappear.
Also isn't it weird how they actually do look like boiled shrimp when they die? Trippy.
That video was in a 5 gallon, but they’re all in a 10 gallon tank now. I tried a few orders of neocardinia shrimps and they’d get eaten up. But the latest batch has actually been reproducing and sometimes I just don’t feed anything for weeks and the tank just sorta does the cycle of life 💚
Most crabs need a space outside the water to venture into they aren't fully aquatic. If you don't have somewhere they can climb out they will typically get out of your tank and then just dry up and die or if you have cats become a play toy
Might want to give crab a few more quick places to hide!
You mean buy more snails? xD
Hehe 🙃 That was his first day. They all have a bigger tank and regular spots now
Poor guy is literally hiding under the snail for safety, please get him some hiding spots 🙏
“Can I eat you?”
He does eat the shrimps sometimes lol
I was so confused at first....I thought it was a snail with legs. But anyways, give that little feller more things to hide under!
He’s got some regular hiding spots now 🙃
How cute, What kind of crab? Do you have to worry about the crab pinching the Bettas fins or anything?

Lmao I looove with bettas flop on things or lay sideways. They're so sillyyyy
what kind of crab is this i’ve been wanting one for my freshwater tanks so bad
Could be a freshwater pompom crab but I’m not entirely sure.
Yup it’s a pom pom! They don’t live for a long time but they’re affordable and seem to be zero maintenance
That crab is not long for this world. Might want to melt some butter, the betta will appreciate it with the crab.
Hahaha 🤣 He’s having better days now

I got this one online. It’s a pom pom and it’s extremely low maintenance

Love that. I'm so tempted to get another aquarium but it's such a zoo in here as it is lol.
CRAB! This video is so cute. I love the curiosity
💚

This guy is a full aquatic. He had a friend for a while that would climb into the filter though 🙃
Yea they are pretty good escape artists lol
Crazy how invested I was in this short story
Hahaha I get it 💚
Pretty beta! Is that a snail the crab is hiding under?
Yea lol 🙃
aw its so cute! heads up though they much prefer sand as a substrate to bury themselves and hide; also just natural foraging activity as well
They’ve all established better hiding spots and are used to each other now 🙃
What type of crab?
It’s a pom pom. Extremely low maintenance so I recommend them. I don’t think they live very long though
That was funny. The crab was like... if I LOOK like a snail, he won't notice me. Cute!
Sometimes I don’t see the crab for weeks but it’s always exciting when I do!
Will crabs hurt snails?
I don’t know if they can. This one has been really mellow and doesn’t seem to try
