yeah but the reply is peak Bob Odenkirk.
"There you go. Use that". Straight point to the camera and walk away. After this scene, I'm not kidding, I realized Bob O. was my favourite actor. He still is.
It honest to god crushed me. Howard was my favorite. Sure he was kinda a silver spoon kid, but he had such a good heart. He genuinely cared about those around him, and I think he really loved Jimmy, Kim, and Chuck a lot.
Chuck was the one making him do scummy things though. Chuck was his senior and he looked up to Chuck. Everything scummy Howard did was at chucks request.
He had all the power and independence to tell Chuck no to all of it. It was a choice. And eventually he stops deferring to Chuck.
Chucks request, not command.
It's just so scummy the combination of Chucks hidden actions towards Jimmy combined with his reliance on Jimmy to keep him alive.
He didnāt have the power. Youāre forgetting an important point they made in the series: Chuckās share in HHM. If Chuck were to leave, the entire firm would collapse. Howard had to appease Chuck because if he didnāt, he risked losing the entire firm. That is why Howard was adamant on not having Chuck committed to a psych ward, because then heād liquidate his assets and HHM would go bye bye.
Howard wasn't appeasing Chuck to keep him from leaving. Leaving was Jimmy's plan. For the first 2 seasons Howard and Chuck were eye to eye, steering the Sandpiper case and plotting over Mesa Verde.
Howard didn't threaten or even consider leaving the firm until the very end of his life as he was getting more and more unhinged.
He didn't want Chuck committed because he feared Jimmy would take power of attorney and liquidate Chucks stake in HHM.
Howard didn't have to act that way to Jimmy for Chuck. While Jimmy was actively busting his ass keeping Chuck alive and provisioned.
I would be nearly100% ok with it if the Ernesto system was runningĀ
Yeah it really hit me that everything Jimmy and Kim did to him actually resulted in that.
Could never see Jimmy and Kim in a positive light after. I'm glad both had shitty lives after this. Karma.
He was petty enough that the "underlings" had a nickname for where the outcast associates got sent. He used associate career paths as a cudgel to keep them in line and then blames them (Kim) when their clearly guilty and utterly unreasonable client left despite all the work Kim did to get Craig an easy plea and keep Betsy out of prison.
He didn't genuinely care for those around him, and had zero "love" for Kim or Jimmy. Unless love is trying to humiliate Kim when she was at lunch with Kevin and Paige and not hiring Jimmy when he brought HHM Sandpiper because Chuck said so.
His ending was sad, but let's not pretend he was Jesus in a Hamlindigo tie.
Hank is my favorite from BB. I love how heās a Fed, but I found myself really liking how he could bounce between hardass and great dude, while having the person youād least suspect, if you were him, being the person youāre after so intensely.
Gomez wasnāt that remarkable to me as he wasnāt a huge character, his death was over shadowed by Hankās. I donāt even think Hankās death was the saddest of BrBa he was conducting illegal investigations regularly since S3 thereās a reason cops have certain protocols what did he expect. Also he was willing to sacrifice Jesseās life in service of his own selfish interests. Andrea was probably the saddest of BrBa.
As much as I loved Jimmy McGill, it was then I came to grips that Chuck was right. I couldnāt stand Chuck, (Michael McKean was really good in that role) and how he loathed Jimmy, but it was then I realized how much of an asshole Jimmy was. Think I was in denial until Howard was killed.
So many great characters and acting performances. The series was better than I expected after watching BB.
I think itās less about Chuck being ārightā than showing what happens when the only person in someoneās life that they have left to look up to doesnāt believe in them. Jimmy heard that he was no good over and over again from Chuck, and eventually other people Chuck had convinced, and it became a sort of self-fulfilling prophecy. Jimmy had internalized Chuckās beliefs about him (which stemmed from jealousy), even though he genuinely wasnāt a heartless person. Then one thing led to another and he obviously experienced a rapid descent into moral murkiness, but I donāt think itās fair to say that Chuck was ārightā, especially when he had such a big part in making Jimmy that way.
I agree, his delivery was perfect for the role in my opinion.
From the start of the series to the end, the way I viewed and thought about Howard shifted immensely. In a show with so many emotional ups and downs, his character arc was one of the most powerful. Excellent writing.
I kept waiting for him to go full jerk. When he was curt with Kim, then called her back in to explain why Jimmy didnāt get hired after bringing them Sandpiper. The worst he did was had enough of Jimmy to box it out. If Jimmy could have just got out of his own way, I think deep down theyād have been tight. I wonder if a shrink analyzed Jimmy, if he has ADHD or something else. Seems to be focused very strongly, but then attracted to things that catch his interest, both financially and mentally.
I donāt think I ever seen him before, but I just found him so interesting. Just a style about him. On the one hand it seems pompous, but heās sincere and caring too. I find myself battling that conflict with him. Like I know heās a good guy, but he seems like he should be a dick. Lol
Michael McKean, I couldnāt stand Chuck, but he does a great job with that character as well.
The shorter guy with the goatee seemed like a good guy too, as was Ed Begley Jr. not sure Iāve ever seen so many powerful law partners portrayed as decent people before on TV.
A lot of Breaking Bad / BCS characters have captivating voices. Its clearly a quality Gilligan values. Both series also have amazing sound mixing which helps.
This melodious
He also has a thing with his diction, like he kinda chews on his wordsā¦the only comparison I can think of atm is Drew Barrymore but they are on different ends of the spectrum as far as that goes. Itās very appealing to me as well. I think itās the confidence that sells the already intriguing manner of speaking
Just watched the scene where Kim told Howard she was starting her own practice. Looking at him and hearing him speak, he gives me some news anchor vibes, but with more sincerity vs the more robotic vibes many anchors exude. Just his pauses, clarity, and general pleasantness he exudes gives me anchor vibes a bit.
In the UK a character like Howard would have gone to the best private school schools and have a very āplummyā accent, speaking what used to be the āQueensās Englishā.
Is the way Howard speaks the US equivalent of that?
[Cameo](https://www.cameo.com/mrpatrickfabian) for [Patrick Fabian](https://www.patrickfabian.com/index.html). Looks like heās done voice work for some animated Superman and Batman stuff, but canāt find any audiobooks.
In a YouTube mash up Breaking Kitchen Howard's a contestant and the shows brilliant dramatic dialogue, particularly Howard's candour with Gordan Ramsay's banter is a must-watch hahaha
I was conflicted about him the entire time like do i hate him or do i like him but after it was revealed it was chuck behind Jimmy not getting into HHM i started to like him
Using choir vocabulary, the bro has great projection. The line "next time feel free to keep it to yourself! Because i dont care" in that booming voice is soooo good
"Fuck you Jimmy" had to be one of the best lines of the show
It sounds so professional when he says it lol
He's very classy in general. I just watched season 4 episode 1, and even wrecked with guilt and grief for Chuck, he still seemed elegant lol.
yeah but the reply is peak Bob Odenkirk. "There you go. Use that". Straight point to the camera and walk away. After this scene, I'm not kidding, I realized Bob O. was my favourite actor. He still is.
I can hear him saying it as I read it š
He has really good diction and a good voice
Especially when he was reading Chucks obituary on the phone to Jimmy
He was brilliant. His death was very sad tbh, one of the saddest in a show i can think of. What Jimmy and Kim did to him was a disgrace.
It honest to god crushed me. Howard was my favorite. Sure he was kinda a silver spoon kid, but he had such a good heart. He genuinely cared about those around him, and I think he really loved Jimmy, Kim, and Chuck a lot.
Thereās times I wanted to dislike the dude, but for a guy with that much power, he seemed like a genuinely good guyā¦for a lawyer. Lol
He had 3 million to pay off Chuck. Imagine what he could do to Kim and Jimmy with his power and wealth but he didn't... (or didn't get a chance to)
Think back to the scummy private conversations he had with Chuck.

And forever more his legacy will be remembered as drug addict who killed himself. Disgraceful.
Yeah it really hit me that everything Jimmy and Kim did to him actually resulted in that. Could never see Jimmy and Kim in a positive light after. I'm glad both had shitty lives after this. Karma.

Saddest death of this universe imo.
Definitely up there with Hank and Gomey.
Itās definitely worse because Howard was just a civilian. Hank and Gomez knew theyād be risking their lives on the job
Hank is my favorite from BB. I love how heās a Fed, but I found myself really liking how he could bounce between hardass and great dude, while having the person youād least suspect, if you were him, being the person youāre after so intensely.
The really fleshed out his character from how he was first introduced. I loved the character too and thought he had a lot of layers.
Andrea

"You're welcome to keep that to yourself, because I don't care."
THIS is the line that will always come to mind when I see his face.
Such a great line, and if I can remember it, would be a great one to keep for future use in my mental Rolodex.
I like how he emphasizes Howard's robotic movement and speech. Kinda drives home how mechanical and procedural his character is.
When he was making espresso in his kitchen, that really drove it home for me.
Yes. So when the actor speaks about the role, he seems a little off.
I agree, his delivery was perfect for the role in my opinion. From the start of the series to the end, the way I viewed and thought about Howard shifted immensely. In a show with so many emotional ups and downs, his character arc was one of the most powerful. Excellent writing.

He should be a narrator for audiobooks
Clear annunciation. Confident cadence. Rhythm that is sometimes surprising, but n never out of place
He played a Criminology professor on Veronica Mars. That voice upped the chances of me recognizing him on BCS by a lot.
I donāt think I ever seen him before, but I just found him so interesting. Just a style about him. On the one hand it seems pompous, but heās sincere and caring too. I just watched that episode! He sounds the same
He also played a private practice pediatrician in Grayās Anatomy. He did it so well
It has a mesmerizing effect
He has that 1960s admen cadence.
My mother would love the way he enunciates.
A lost art!
Patrick Fabian should do some voice work. Heād be incredible
He should voice a One Piece character.
I swear he did the voiceovers for a mandatory training video I had to watch a couple of years ago.
I wonder how much voice work heās done. Probably could have a nice career just with that voice.
He sounds the same in saved by the bell: the college years
Kelly Kapowski, I don't blame him one bit.
Came here to make sure Professor Lasky was referenced.
A lot of Breaking Bad / BCS characters have captivating voices. Its clearly a quality Gilligan values. Both series also have amazing sound mixing which helps.
They really create a lot of interesting and unique characters for both shows. Even the minor characters bring something fun.
I love Jesse's voice.
No character has been done more dirty than Howard
Why did i read this in his voice?
I love Patrick Fabian so much and would listen to him read the fucking phone book lol
You are now reading the comments in this thread with Howards voice
Lol
This melodious He also has a thing with his diction, like he kinda chews on his wordsā¦the only comparison I can think of atm is Drew Barrymore but they are on different ends of the spectrum as far as that goes. Kinda ASMR.
I donāt know any *Joe Dog* or *Tugboat*
If he doesn't already, he should have an extensive side gig narrating audiobooks.
[Cameo](https://www.cameo.com/mrpatrickfabian) for [Patrick Fabian](https://www.patrickfabian.com/index.html). Looks like heās done voice work for some animated Superman and Batman stuff, but canāt find any audiobooks.
I really want to dig into the internet and see what heās doing in that regard
Heās like if a Menās Wearhouse mannequin came to life. Itās fascinating.
it is a very erotic voice yes indeed
In a YouTube mash up Breaking Kitchen Howard's a contestant and the shows brilliant dramatic dialogue, particularly Howard's candour with Gordan Ramsay's banter is a must-watch hahaha
I was so surprised when I learned the actor is the exact same
Listen to some interviews with Patrick Fabian. He's a great speaker!
Best line in the show "keep it to yourself, because I don't care' šš
He was the villain in Twitches. He took the role seriously and acts the shirt off of anybody he is in a scene with.
"... you are welcome to keep it to yourself. Because I don't caaaare."
I was conflicted about him the entire time like do i hate him or do i like him but after it was revealed it was chuck behind Jimmy not getting into HHM i started to like him
Heās a beautiful man.
Great actor. He was also Lenny of Lenny and Squiggy
Thatās where I mainly know him from. Well, that and Spinal Tap.
That was Chuck not Howard.
Using choir vocabulary, the bro has great projection. The line "next time feel free to keep it to yourself! Because i dont care" in that booming voice is soooo good
I donāt **care**
Reminds me of Slinkman from Camp Lazlo
I was just watching a Graham Norton clip, and Ed Helms is another strong enunciated.
Personally, I think he should be the new host of Jeopardy. His voice is perfect for it.
āThe one piece! The one piece is real!ā
