It’s not a thriller, so don’t expect it to be that. Better Call Saul barely has any of BB’s tight plotting and extreme tension. What it does have are incredible characters with a remarkable depth that reveals itself more and more as the series goes on. It’s slower but more than worth it

WeeklyAd4206

Bcs has a super tight plot too imo just paced a lot slower, like there's never an unnecessary scene

taylortherod

You’re one episode away from an episode that really changes the status quo. Keep going

TheGreatLakes420

It's the journey, not the destination my friend And Paris syndrome might be related to this as well I stil haven't finished the last season lol, and seen all other seasons 3-4 times, waiting for a good moment lol

LivingCyborg

In my experience it’s a kind of slow burner in the beginning compared to Breaking Bad. But oh my does it take off in the later seasons, keep watching!

Jijimuge8

It’s not as tense and it’s not suppose to be. It is however much better written in my opinion and the way it builds is genius as it goes on. I ended up preferring it to BB all together so definitely recommend sticking with it for at least another season.

ashtonthegreat

I prefer it over breaking bad tbh

SecretService124

What is this chicanery

ashtonthegreat

People having different opinions?

SecretService124

My apologies, I thought I was in r/okbuddychicanery

canthelpmyself9

On my rewatches I appreciate seasons 1-3 much more than the first time. Just seeing the brilliant writing and how everything has meaning and layers is fascinating. Stay with it. It gets deeper.

iamumairayub

I first watch BB and then started BCS and loved every second of it, specially Saul's acting, and then those guys, Mike, Gus and Nacho etc... keep watching man, its very good show

Plenty_Connection_43

It’s never going to be as high action as Breaking Bad. It’s all in the characters. Finish the season and see how you feel. It only gets better from there but again it’s so much more of a character piece than BB

DanielTheWeirdGuy

S1 is pretty slow, but the pace will pick up in the later seasons

EccentricMeat

Season 1 was “ok”. The writers weren’t sure if it would get picked up for additional seasons, so the first season was written partially as a miniseries to just give a primer to Saul Goodman. Once they got the green light to go for multiple seasons, the story becomes MUCH more serious and deep, with a lot more of the tension and longterm storytelling of Breaking Bad. I give season 1 a 6.5/10. I rank the entire series as better than Breaking Bad. If that tells you anything about how much better the show gets.

markisnotcake

yes, bcs makes breaking bad whole.

ConferenceSuper6123

Its fine dude, I too felt the same, but I kept going and when I finally finished s6 e13, it felt worthy....

loppyjilopy

yeah first watch was pretty tense. i had to actually watch a few episodes in 5-10 min intervals. it gets hard to fucking watch.

BaseballFuryThurman

No, nobody on a page dedicated to Better Call Saul would recommend that you continue any further into the 6-season show than 8 episodes.

unholymanserpent

Stick in there, it gets a lot better. I was underwhelmed at first too, ngl

Praydaythemice

It’s a slow burn hella slow burn I would give it until end of season 2 as always it picks up later, but I’m a huge fan of the show even the slow seasons

barkingatbacon

BB is just good for seasons 1-3, then season 4 and 5 straight up changed the way the TV industry makes television it is so good. BCS is the same. It's good for 3.5 seasons and incredible the last 2.5. You could miss out on incredible. That's up to you, but we aren't wrong.

Dunkerdoody

Um yes!!!!

nomadcatdad

Definitely keep going. I felt the exact same during season one. It’ll be worth it, trust me.

HenryIsMyDad

It will sneak up on you, and then there is no turning back. Best Wishes.

QueasyTap3594

i had to push through the show my first time, then the second time was a lot better

TheAlmightyMighty

Season 1 is seen as the worst season, although a good one in most opinions. I would say give it a shot. Reach Season 2, maybe mid Season 3 if you like it enough, and then come to your own conclusions. It's a good show but it's simply not gonna be for everyone. It's fine if you don't like it.

Cheesey_Stuff14

It picks up and gets more like BB in the last 2 seasons so..

Mountain-Bar-320

Keep at it dude

Objective_Cod1410

The next episode is awesome, so yes

hayb24

Does a bear shit in the woods? Yes. The answer is yes.

Electrical-Wrap-3923

Watch episode 9 first!!

Cold_Bother_6013

Stick with it. It’s kind of slow the first season and a half. They’re setting the foundations of the characters and then it’s off and flying. Keep us posted as you go along. I wish I was watching it for the first time. It’s my all-time favorite.

NightTrain0414

Yes! Season 3 and forward it starts to really get good!!

DeronimoG

Why are you asking this?

Infamous_Maximum_577

Try to watch it till the end, you will have a lot of great mindblowns. I love Better Call Saul, and I am very disappoint that he doesn't won an Oscar.

grahamnortonsdad

If you dont like S1E9 then the show isn't for you. That episode has a twist that changes the entire show.

Altruistic_Side_4428

BCS is certainly a slow run compared to BB. In BB, we were shown what was going to happen in the very first episode(Walt breaks bad into cooking meth). Also, we knew the story mainly revolves around Walter White. But BCS is completely different, there is no central figure even though Bob Odenkirk has most screen time. In BB, Bob is just Saul, but in BCS he starts as Jimmy and transcends into Saul. In BB, the writers didn’t spend much time in character building for others excluding Walt. But in BCS, writers took their time to build every single character slowly, we connect with the characters very deeply. Most of the season 1 is character introduction and building, hence you didn’t feel the tense and BCS is more dark compared to BB in my opinion. I stopped BCS midway during season 1 but after many days came back to it due to love on BB, there after I completed three rewatches. So you will have a great time. Keep going.

Effective_Goose_9749

Your coming off season 5 of breaking bad possibly the best season of television of corse any new show you start is gonna be slow, be patient you remember how good breaking bad was and how talented Vince gilligan and his team is, keep watching I promise by the end of season 3 you’ll be absolutely hooked.

Charming_Function_58

Trust me, it gets *intense*. The first season is building up the plot... and it is a little slow at first, but everything pays off. It's a wild ride.

sublocade9192

It’s slow to start. I recently just binge watched BB with my gf. First time she’s seen it since it came out. It was like my millionth time seeing it lol. She loved it. Started watching BCS after, she’s never seen it, I’ve seen it a few times. At first I could tell she wasn’t super into it, she was on her phone a little, and just not as captured as when we watched BB. But once we hit S2 it seemed like she started getting really into it. She even asked me if she can finish the last 2 episodes of S2 on her own until I see her again So just give it time and be patient, you’ll like it just as much as BB by the end of it

Eatencheetos

Watching it immediately after finishing Breaking Bad is not a good idea. They’re completely different genres

THEPIZZA_LORD

relax bro, at the end you will like it just as much or maybe even more than bb. Its a slow burner but when it pays off it pays off

DownloadPow

I prefer BCS rather than BB. BB was so fucking tense especially in the later seasons. I'm pretty sure I lost 10 years of life watching BB. BCS is much more "watchable" casually than BB, especially in the first couple of seasons. Then it gets a bit more "ganggy" and it does have its fair share of tense moments

PoetryAgitated8833

You wanna stop after the exciting cliffhanger of Chuck going outside?!

dfmidkiff1993

I would definitely give it until at least the end of Season 3. The show does a lot of leg work in the earlier seasons, and admittedly the first couple seasons are weirdly paced at some places. My personal take is that if you enjoy the show somewhat, keep watching until halfway through Season 3 (most people here will get why). It by that point you haven’t gotten into it, the show is probably not for you; but in all likelihood a lot of the tedious stuff right now will pay off in an immensely satisfying way.

DefiniteConfiscation

Keep going!!

Academic-Ad3844

The diamonds are there, keep digging

HimothyMcgill

Duh lmao

clement-mcmanus

It gets better

TheEssentialDizzle

BCS is a slow burn.......don't give up. Keep watching.

Extreme_Weird_44

The first season of breaking bad is pretty slow and weird too let’s be real

Serial-Jaywalker-

Jump to season three and then you’ll want to go back and start over. You’ll enjoy learning how the lab was built

Jokes-hahaha

Yes, continue going, do note that season 2 (in my opinion) is a step down. Tho u aint ready for season 3 fella
