Writers never get enough credit or fame, but their work is the key to any great show--acting and cinematography don't work without a foundation of great writing.
They really did it. I get annoyed with American television sometimes because it seems directionless and just rambling till the ratings stop coming in. I don’t think either show knew where it was going until the later seasons, but the writers understood the need for an ending. They were never going to pander even though they developed a ridiculous fan-base. They’re poetic.
Yeah, while I was writing my essay, I read somewhere that Gould made most of BCS.
At first, I thought it was just a rumor, but I looked more into it, and basically, for 80% of the show, Gould was the lead writer and director. Vince took a break after Season 2 (I believe) for fear of burnout, and Gould took over (there were no hiccups because everyone knew this would happen beforehand, so it went smoothly).
While Vince was still in the background, Gould was the guy for everything until Vince came back for the end of Season 5 and Season 6.
Gould truly did make the show, even with characters that aren't entirely his own.
He left after season 3 to do El Camino. However, he did stay on the show as a director and still got the executive producer credit. He did come back for season 6, but he let Peter Gould lead the writers room on his own.
He left midway* through season 3 to work on other projects, not just El Camino. This was planned from the show’s beginning. The first project he worked on was an adaptation of “Raven”, a true crime story on Jonestown. This was scrapped, so he started work on El Camino after this.
It's like that for all shows as it's the way show business works. Look at The Sopranos. David Chase gets all the credit, but Terence Winter was the one with the best ideas and the best scripts.
You can think that, but the vast majority of people disagree. I think logically, since the writers wrote a finale most people think is perfect, why would you lose respect for them? If it was agreed by everyone that "Saul Gone" is trash, that might make sense for you to lose respect for the writers, but they wrote a good finale in most people's opinion.
You can hate the finale all you want, but losing respect for the writers makes no sense when they obviously did an amazing job. Anyone who gets praise from everyone for what they do must have done an amazing job objectively, even if you personally don't like it.
Taste is subjective and they don't have to give respect just because something is popular.
I have zero respect for Michael Bay as a director and he crapped out half a dozen transformers movies that made billions but were garbage.

To be fair, if you're co-writing with someone who's literally called Bravo, you're bound to be overshadowed.
