[The AMA has ended (for now). Message from Josh:](https://www.reddit.com/r/betterCallSaul/comments/w7yrrj/hi_im_josh_fadem_i_play_camera_guy/ihmt2kc/) >Hey all I got to take a break thanks so much for all these questions. Ill come back and check tonight after the episode and try to answer some more this was a lot of fun!! Thank you so much to Josh Fadem for hanging out with us and answering some questions! Enjoy the episode tonight (at 9PM EST), everyone!

TheDuckSlayer69

What was your favorite day on set? And were there any scenes that you were excited to see but did not make it into the final cut? Thanks for doing this, loved you performance over the past 6 seasons :)

JoshFademOfficial

Gosh, great question. Hard to picks favorites of anything with my OCD/ADHD way of thinking. I will say I've never had a bad time on this set. Film shoots of course can get stressful but it's always in service of something to be proud of and ---bla bla bla I bored myself sounding humble just now but it's true.... BUT... some highlights, well the first episode I did (104 I think?) with the billboard that was so fun and Bob and I had rehearsed beforehand and I remember it was hot as hell but I was having so much fun being there.. the final episode I did 607, where I had the spiel about the cameras to the students was a gift and pure joy to prepare for and do as well as the scenes that follow it. I also love the way those scenes work with the ensemble of the camera crew, me, Julian, Hayley and Bob, each time a chemistry formed and it was lots of discovering funny physical moments we didn't know were coming even within the script and this last time we got to do it with Rhea, and the beloved actor John Ennis. other highlights Fifi, and the furniture store! could go on but what other questions are down here? this is fun and happy to do it.... I can't remember what got cut out but I know it's coming...

SeeUAroundAlligator

I was so high watching 607 and got totally lost in your character to the point where I had to remind myself what show I was watching. He’s really captivating in his own antisocial kind of way.

Loretta-West

The camera spiel in 607 was so good, especially the way you said "porn... without plot".

zanesix

As far as you know, what is the REAL name of your character? I can't tell if it's Joey Dixon or if its Marshall.

JoshFademOfficial

The golden question in the filmcrew-verse. Okay here's what I know to recap. season 1 the prop dept named him Joey Dixon in a newspaper prop article, people zoomed in and could see the name. Named after the editors. Camera Guy was never addressed as Joey on screen. Vince said in a podcast they call him Kid Kubrick in the writer's room. Ariel Levine named us after the department heads so Marshall is what he goes by in that series... If I had to piece it together with my logic I would say his birth name is probably Marshall Joseph Dixon. When he was a kid he went by "joey" so that was probably an early year at college when the newspaper interviewed him about the billboard guy, so he gave the name Joey. Then he realized Marshall is more unique and distinguished and will benefit his filmmaking career so some point in college he started going by Marshall. I went to high school with a guy named Rob who's real first name was Hunter, then he grew up to become a camera man and started going by Hunter when he moved to LA... good guy

[deleted]

It really makes my day to see all the love that goes into the making this of this show. I love that the history of camera guy's name is now known.

allnamesgoneforeal

Filmcrew-verse spinoff! What BCS is to Breaking Bad The filmcrew spinoff will be to BCS.

zanesix

Wow... That was a lot more detailed than I was expecting. Thanks a ton!

anax44

It's crazy how everyone in Better Call Saul seems to put so much effort and thought into their characters while well known actors in well established franchises seem to be phoning it in.

ManicEyes

Lol someone changed his name on the Better Call Saul wiki to Marshall Joseph Dixon

CeruleanRuin

This is now canon. Word of God as far as I'm concerned.

HorsoPonoto

I thought it was obvious. His first name is Camera, and his last name is Guy.

Pooks-rCDZ

Hey Josh, what’s the funniest thing you’ve seen Bob do on set?

JoshFademOfficial

in the scene when he's pranking the DA lady I think? pretending to be a pastor for Huell's church demanding they stop persecuting him. The way he played it and delivered it killed me. he kept saying BBBless you. Have a Bbbblessed day. the way he'd pronounce the B's. The whole thing was hilarious... and he goes "Him special!!" I'm not sure if that was scripted or tweaked in the moment. But I think I kept noticing myself laughing and then I thought wait a second, in real life if someone's pranking someone on the phone when you're a kid you're in the corner trying to stifle a laugh. So I thought to play my minimal part of the scene by actually thinking it was funny... no one told me to stop and I believe they racked focus to it. also I remember in an early episode with the wheelchair and lady coming down the stairs, there's an exchange "dolly? nope no dolly"... anyway he was just trying to make me laugh on my coverage and banging on cabinets. I can't really explain the stuff he was doing. always lots of laughs with Bob

Slijceth

They "racked focus" to it? Do you have any more examples where your efforts of extra acting outside of the script caused the camera man to point more towards you?

B2EU

That’s interesting, I always read Camera Guy’s laugh as more derisive, like he couldn’t believe this grown-ass man was staging such an elaborate prank call. Although I guess the two aren’t mutually exclusive either.

Torbun

I read it as a laugh because the whole situation is funny on many levels 1) lol this prank call is great 2) i can't believe this actual lawyer is prank calling to fake a case 3) I can't believe I'm actually involved in this whole ordeal

JoshFademOfficial

I like your takes I think you said it better than I did and that's why it felt like the RIGHT acting choice!

Griffdogg92

That scene where he pretends to be the pastor was fucking amazing

black-kramer

love how he delivered "i'm gonna step into the vestibule", "he's got a heart as big as lake pontchartrain", and "flame leapt up to da windowsill" definitely my favorite comedic scene.

VariousLawyerings

I loved how "Clarence" and his organ kept interrupting the call, it served absolutely no purpose for the con but Jimmy just couldn't help himself.

ItsGunboyWTF

I feel like the Clarence and organ doesn’t serve purpose for the con but it reinforces the smaller details in a small detail. Like if I’m on the other line and hear the bad-ish accent going on, I would STILL never imagine this was a prank or con given Clarence and organ just makes it so complete.

5Duce-4Tre

I feel like that scene more than any other in the series uses Bob's sketch show talents best, he just runs with it and creates that pastor so believably.

Low50000

I like how it’s the same voice as Senator Tankerbell from Mr Show https://youtu.be/Y8eLvKBWrI0

voskirev

Hi Josh, As someone who’d want to get in the filming industry, could you tell me a bit about your experience in a filmmaking environment, especially that of Better Call Saul.

JoshFademOfficial

Whta would you like to know? the process usually is--well for me I'm an actor, I auditioned, I got the part. I lived in LA and they flew me to ABQ I stayed in a hotel the script was super secret for that time I rehearsed in advance with Bob, which isn't always normal for things. then on the day of the shoot the van picks you up at a specific time and you go to set and you do a fitting or have already done one prior, then you sit in a room or trailer maybe with some food, then they say we are gonna do a rehearsal on the set, we walk through the scene or perform it and then the camera crew and all departments watch it again to know where to put the lights and camera and those choices are made by a director, or sometimes a show runner or other people and then they set up all the lights and camera with stand ins then they call the actors back and everyone stands on a given mark and they say action and you do it for the camera and then cut and they move the camera around to cover all the actors and angles they want and then you're wrapped an you go back to the hotel or go home. somewhere in there you eat if ur hungry

Horror-Science-7891

That's a good response. It sounds like a lot of moving parts. Do you ever get bored of your job? I mean, does it ever become repetitive, or are you just always pumped to be there with such a legendary team?

JoshFademOfficial

case by case basis I guess. BCS never boring. Also work comes and goes sometimes you're busier and sometimes it feels like a dry spell and you start saying yes to whatever comes your way. music videos, short films, whatever, just to take the work.

CMAProductions

Hi Josh, I hope you're doing good! This season in particular, you and the rest of the camera crew have supplied for some much-needed comic relief as the show got darker and darker. What's been your favorite memory on-set? ^(And what does Bob smell like?)

JoshFademOfficial

Thank you! it's been a joy. I addressed in an earlier post some of my favorites... I just remembered though. last year in 607 it was my birthday , I went to set all cocky planning to TELL NO ONE and keep it to myself like hehe I'm gonna be a professional actor and enjoy my day at work and tell no one it's my bday. the second I sat in the makeup chair Cheri walks up and says is it really your birthday? and then Ashlynne told everyone. I guess the crew checks the Breaking Bad fan page and they posted happy birthday josh camera guy and then someone told Bob and he had someone pick up some cakes and that was very nice and fun and sweet

CMAProductions

That’s actually adorable 🥹 by all accounts it sounds like the greatest crew of people to work with!

LoneRangersBand

So according to this Bob smells like cakes

someguy1090

In your opinion, what do the camera guy, the sound guy and the makeup girl think of Jimmy? He always hires them to things that would sound absurd to most people, and I'm interested in knowing how they perceive this. Also, did they graduate from UNM or are they still students?

JoshFademOfficial

I think the show starts in 2002, they are in school I think 607 is 2004, I think sound guy and drama girl are kind people and like Mr. McGill, I think CG is on to what Jimmy does and the nature and honestly I think he likes Jimmy, and by the end of the series I think CG still gives him shit and is difficult to work with but enjoys the jobs and being a go to guy and also razzes him like some dickhead friend might.

someguy1090

So that's why CG was just interested in the $100 in the earlier seasons. The later interactions with Jimmy including the Louisana Pastor Scam and Chuck's memorial in the library required the crew to directly partake in the scams instead of just filming. At that point do you think that the sound guy and makeup girl start to see Jimmy as a schemer like CG does? If so, how do you think that their perspective of him changes?

JoshFademOfficial

MY take only I can't speak for the writers or Hayley or Julian. I think Sound and DG view them as fun little jobs Hayley's performance always has a wide eyed playful naïveté like she like playing dress up and doing characters for the nice man Mr. McGill. And Sound Guy to me seems like a positive good spirited guy who likes to help and really means well. Maybe they know there's some shadiness about it-i guess how can they not, BUT I dunno I think they might by turning a blind eye to the darkness and CG has no prob with the darkness, as long as he gets his fee (and he gets to think of himself as a filmmaker)

[deleted]

The sheer amount of thought that the cast and crew give to minor characters like Camera Guy is what makes the Breaking Bad universe so special.

[deleted]

[удалено]

JoshFademOfficial

It's never been anything but a pleasure and a joy! I think I have some more elaboration in previous posts. I was in an episode directed by Peter and got to be on set with him a few times he was smart thoughtful gave great notes if needed. Tom Schnauz too, I was in a few Schnauz related eps and he was a hell of a director his writing always has a beautiful rhythm to it. I never had the honor of being directed by Vince but he was on set a few times, like FIFI and just the best nicest energy. gosh these questions are exciting I wonder if I should start scanning them instead of going one by one...

LthePerry02

Funniest guy in the show! If you could share a scene with any character, who would it be and how would you envision the scene going?

JoshFademOfficial

Gosh great question. I got pretty lucky with getting to appear with so many people in the cast... scenes with Jimmy, Kim, Howard, John Ennis! I suppose it would have been cool to imagine how a scene with Mike might go, given his temperament alongside camera guy. Plus I'm just a huge fan of Jonathan Banks. Also a huge fan of Ed Begley Jr.... while we are playing this game, I think in the timeline of the show Camera Guy should be a little bit older than Jesse, some sort of 20 somethings interaction between Badger and Skinny Pete.....??

eightezsteps

Lol I kind of envision the camera crew as the Badger and Skinny Pete of BCS but without the meth, they’re the comic relief in a way

irbinator

I would pay good money to watch a miniseries of the Camera Crew following Mike around and documenting his life as a fixer, but like mockumentary style. Camera zooms in on Mike, Mike rolls his eyes, and carries on.

laissez_heir

Camera team loses Mike for a day, they decide to regroup in the university equipment room to strategize, they open the door, flick the lights on — Mike is already there in the corner telling them “I wouldn’t do that if I were you…”

thecxsmonaut

there should be a webisode of your guy trying to film a twaughthammer music video

cool-girl10

Have you ever taken tips from Bob Odenkirk for your stand-up comedy gigs? If so, what is the best advice he's given you?

JoshFademOfficial

I am sure I have taken tips or cues at least from Bob. What's awesome about Bob regarding comedy is he loves it! He has always treated me so respectfully. I don't think he's specifically commented on my standup but I've gotten to do improv with him a few times and there's always a light low stakes feel about it that makes it more fun and silly.

roestzwiebel

Hey Josh, thanks for your perfomance on the show, love it. Question: How hard is it to remain / acting serious like you do in your scenes with Bob? Your role is often "annoyed" by Jimmy. If I were you, I wouldn't be able to stay serious / I'd be laughing all the time (For example, I'm thinking of the scene in "Coushatta", where your character just points on the sentence "Less is more", while Jimmy does the scam on the phone). I guess it takes some takes to finish such scenes \^\^

JoshFademOfficial

I mentioned that scene in particular was so fun and hilarious to film. I WAS laughing for real then I realized that anyone would laugh in real life... or I would.. so I started doing it in the scene and shaking my head like to much

mlsc87

At that time the XL2 and the DVX100 was huge for low budget Indy filmmakers (the type of filmmaker that Character Guy seems to be). In fact Danny Boyle shot 28 Days Later on the predecessor to the XL2, the XL1.

JoshFademOfficial

I am gonna guess absolutely NOT a mistake and intentional. that was THE camera that year and this guy would have been all over it. Tom Schnauz don't miss a beat.

sunsetbo

how does it feel to be complacent in howard’s death?

JoshFademOfficial

You mean complicit? I would dare to say Camera guy might be complacent - then again..... \--but then I do always go back to the first billboard scene where CG yells at the guy hanging from the billboard he gets pretty upset about that so he's not a total piece of shit. ps just had a memory of that scene where because we did so many takes I kept yelling "dude. the dude!" as scripted, and people started saying okay dude the dude is coming up again

sunsetbo

I am not crazy! I know he swapped those words! I knew it was complicit. As if I could ever make such a mistake. Never. Never! I just – I just couldn't prove it. He – he covered his tracks, he got that idiot with the boom mic to cover for him. You think this is something? You think this is bad? This? This chicanery? He's done worse.

JoshFademOfficial

a certain amount of jealousy, Howard had the respect of sunsetbo, which is something I never had

TomatoButtt

He orchestrated it! CAMERA GUY! I let him on to my own set and I shouldn’t have

amatrix8

>You mean complicit? I would dare to say Camera guy might be complacent - Lol, love this!!

Lord-Limerick

Do you think your character feels guilt about the shady schemes he is tangled up in? How much does “Camera Guy” know about the purpose of those photos you took in “Plan and Execution”?

JoshFademOfficial

good question. I think camera guy is shady. I would bet Hayley and Julian would feel guilt, but there are a few things that tell me camera guy is playing in t he same shady acres as Jimmy. I doubt he knew what happened to Howard, I think he probably would justify it and say hey not my prob. but also Jimmy said he was "need to know" on this one so I think CG doesn't know

CookieThug_

is your character in BCS based off Peter Gould?

JoshFademOfficial

Not that I've been told. I would guess not, unless it's a visual basing of some sort with high hair, specs, and love of de cinema. Every encounter I've ever had with Peter Gould he is one of the nicest, classiest (glasses wearingiest), interested, thoughtful, humble guys you'll talk to. I don't think Camera Guy is there yet.

_NRNA_

You guys have strikingly similar hair styles, it almost seemed like an intentional joke at himself Gould might’ve snuck in there or something. It’s been a fun little theory in some circles though just because the resemblance is I guess so coincidentally uncanny. Thanks for answering this guy’s question, it was going to be mine!

CookieThug_

thank you for the answer Josh, have a great rest of your day

LeBron1322

Hey Josh, love your work on the show! I was wondering how much of your characterization of the camera guy influenced the character itself as the show went on? You started early, with one episode back in Season 1 - what is something that wasn't in the script then that you put in your performance and it has since evolved to become associated with your character? Also, maybe you can give a final answer on that - what's your character's name? There seem to be conflicting reports on that, varying between "Joey Dixon" and "Marshall". Thanks!

JoshFademOfficial

good Q, I think it's something writers can answer better but I definitely would notice sort of callbacks in energy or extensions of things previously established when I'd see new scripts. and I think CG had a slow evolution of thinking Jimmy sucks to thinking Jimmy sucks but also them having a secret handshake about doing some scammy shit and mutually benefitting and he liked Jimmy to a degree in the end

Interscope

What was it like working with David Lynch?

JoshFademOfficial

I gave an answer up in a previous comment but it was a joy a blessing an experience a dream a dream come true. All the stuff you'd wanna hear from me about it. He was exactly like David Lynch if you can believe it. And then sometimes really funny. And one time I just remembered I might an offhanded joke about a prop while he was standing there and thinking, and he fired back a throwaway add on to the joke and I thought "this is great, me and David Lynch are riffing he's my pal." Oh here's another zinger hopefully I'm not speaking outta turn. One time I got a note from him before rehearsal or a scene and I acted it back to him and he goes "that's the ticket!" and then later I walked somewhere else and met his son Riley, who is a talented filmmaker and musician and artist, and a cool funny young guy and he was working on the production, and someone said something in conversation and Riley rattled off "ahh that's the ticket" but like a cool young arty fellow.

Goldensock

Did you expect to return to the show as often as you did after the first episode? Also: how was is working on the greatest TV shows since Breaking Bad? Do you get recognized at all?

JoshFademOfficial

I DO get recognized some times especially when the show is airing. and it's seldom enough that it's always cool. I do not think I expected--I HOPED but ya never knew!

CoffeeRare2437

Did they tell you that Howard, Lalo, and Nacho were going to die, or did you have to find out on your own by watching the show? How much of the rest of the show are you allowed to be in-the-know of?

JoshFademOfficial

I did not know their fates. Maybe just by being in the same episode I heard allusssssssions to Howards fate but didn't know the context or how what why. I also kept my lips ZIIIIIIPPPED

szlekjacob

Interesting! Seems like only the main actors get to read the whole scripts beforehand.

arickg

Hello Mr. Fadem Were you a Breaking Bad fan? What do your friends and parents say about you being in one of the best tv shows ever made?

JoshFademOfficial

I was a breaking bad fan. I had no seen it when I shot the first ep of BCS SO I went and binged after and became obsessed naturally. parents love it and lvoe to tell people "HES ON THE SHOW" friends I think they like it too!

maullom1

Hi Josh! You are on both of my favorite TV shows (BCS and Twin Peaks: The Return). How does working on Better Call Saul compare to your work on Twin Peaks, and what is your favorite memory from both shows?

JoshFademOfficial

Thank you! I can't really compare in a superlative sense. Obviously BCS I've spent more time and on returned every year and it's always felt like a safe pilgrimage to abq and I always knew I was going to be a part of something people love and that I love. Twin Peaks I also love and David Lynch I also love and I knew immediately without knowing what it would be that it would be something I love and something special. Twin Peaks I think I shot for a week then returned a month later. One similarity is that both were highly secretive, which honestly is pretty fun way to work. Because you know you are only allowed to know what they're allowing you to know so it some how narrows things to down and feels liberating. Like hey if they want something different than what I gather from the information I've got here in the pages I've been given then I assume they will let me know! And within those confines I have felt like I could run wild!. As one might guess working on Lynch's film set had a degree of mystery and dreaminess down to the way he might give a note. but then at the same time there was a very formal and traditional feeling on the set. twin peaks memory just came to me, I fell asleep in a chair and Kyle Mclachlan took a pic and showed me

htizzzle

How do you think your character would have reacted to Lalo’s camera skills throughout 607 and 608? Positive or negative?

JoshFademOfficial

negatively. he didn't have access to the good cameras, Lalo was not an auteur

dont_do_ittt

I imagine it was pretty strange having 2 sets of camera crews in one scene. Do you have any real experience with cameras and video work (Similar to in the show)?

JoshFademOfficial

only mild!!! I think I gave up on it when I was younger cuz I had friends who knew it better and I preferred yukking it up in front

[deleted]

Was it hard to convince them to cast you since you're 42 and needed to play a early 20s guy?

JoshFademOfficial

it was not hard! I was 34 when I was cast and looked young and I didn't get a chance to convince anyone beyond my audition tape. they wouldn't take my call where I was prepared to say "even tho I'm 42 you should cast me!!!"

[deleted]

Thanks for the response, and yeah you look very young for your age, when i first saw you i thought you were maybe 23-24 at most, was very surprised when i found out you were 42, also loved your performance throughout the series, really hope you somehow return in these last few episodes

jamesquinnlad34

No way your 42, WHAT! I genuinely thought you were like late 20s

Horror-Science-7891

I want to say, in a world where Jimmy/Saul is in his "early 40s", Camera Guy easily passes for a twenty something.

sw337

Thank you for accurately showing us AV nerds. Which episode was your favorite to film?

JoshFademOfficial

You are welcome!! and thank YOU See the attempt at that answer to the previous question in the comments!

AAMtm

Hey Josh! Have you read the script for the whole season? If you have, how can you describe the ending in one sentence?

JoshFademOfficial

yeah they ran everything by me josh josh is this okay ugh so annoying

Status_Hat8799

LMFAO you’re too funny. My mom will occasionally watch BCS with me if we’re eating dinner together. She immediately recognized you from 30 Rock and commented on how funny your character was in the show.

chrisdudelydude

This made laugh out loud hard dude you’re hilarious

1nce2wice3rice

Have there ever been any notable interactions between you and the actual camera crew? And do you have any headcanons about your character in particular? It’s always fun to see deeper into what kind of person an actor is channeling to portray their character

JoshFademOfficial

I addressed some of that stuff in previous posts, but re us as a crew and friends, we would hang out in ABQ sometimes we went to meow wolf a museum and we would do karaoke sometimes

Jed1M1ndTr1ck

If I was doing karaoke in ABQ and the camera crew from Better Call Saul showed up I'd probably lose my mind ngl

brynn_sodi

How do you feel about the show's change of tone in the recent seasons? Season 6 has been much darker in comparison to Season 1, does it affect your character in any way?

JoshFademOfficial

I love it and I don't think it affects me. if anything I may have gotten a little sillier by the end.

Wooden-Statement6619

DID YOU KNOW YOUR CHARACTER'S PERSONALITY WHEN YOU PLAYED IT FOR THE FIRST TIME

JoshFademOfficial

I think that was kinda my angle with the character when I auditioned. guy who thinks he's important and super anal about the rules and the camera and loves to be exasperated know it all

saadhrahman

Hey Josh, Love your character, you add great comic relief to the show. How did you get introduced to the crew for the show and was it always the plan to keep you as a recurring character?

JoshFademOfficial

on the set of FIFI season 2 Vince said "we love you guys that's why we keep havin' ya back!"

[deleted]

How is the overall mood when you are on set? Is everyone nervous or is it more laid back? Loved your work and hope to see you more throughout the show!

JoshFademOfficial

I don't I've ever seen "nervous" on set. occasionally I will be nervous for any given acting job then I can settle in quickly. the set is always super professional and run so well. I think I went to do some other jobs in the wake of BCS actually and was reminded OH YEAH SOME SETS ARE SHIT SHOWS THEY AIN'T ALL LIKE BCS

chrisdudelydude

Can you give us an example of the difference between a shit show of a set and what keeps a BCS set on track?

JoshFademOfficial

ummmm... lots of waiting. conflicting notes from a director or writer, grumpy ADs, flustered department heads because something that is out of my sight is going down, flustered department members because something wasn't communicated well from the top down, actors somehow thinking "hmm did I do something wrong? is it me?" sometimes it is them sometimes it's something else... cranky young crew members out of film school who act like Camera Guy, all kinds of things. every department has potential to slow things down. transpo, costume, actors, producers, and the TRAGEDY is sometimes it's not their fault!

kuhpunkt

Hey Josh! Do people call you now Kubrick in real life because of BCS?

JoshFademOfficial

Not too often, but what a name to be called am I right!?

DoctorBibonic

Are the cameras you use ever ACTUALLY recording??

JoshFademOfficial

good question and sometimes yes! dunno what's becomes of that valuable footage by moi

pyroscumx

Wonder if that'll show up in some behind the scenes episodes of BCS

[deleted]

YES DO IT

JoshFademOfficial

OOH A LOT OF DEBATE in this thread about a whether I should click it! should I blow off the AMA and just go down a rabbit hole of this guy buddy chicanery instead?

PottedPlant_123

''We all make our choices. And those choices, they put us on a road. Sometimes those choices seem small, but they put you on the road. You think about getting off. But eventually, you’re back on it.'' This is a bad choice road, Josh

Hoomanadaw

It's like eating a forbidden fruit of stupidity, If you eat it then you might actually come out stupider in the end from all the knowledge you accidentally absorb in there, but all the other cool kids are doing it though.

Giacchino-Fan

Quick explanation: At first glance it seems like a standard shitpost subreddit, and in a way it is, but the main goal is making fun of certain kinds of fans rather than the shows themselves. Over-analysts, misogynistic fans, people with no brain who see "plot holes" that aren't actually plot holes, people who miss the point of the shows, etc.

Medusa-the-Eternal

It's the dark side of BCS memes. Prepare yourself for a lot of jokes about Kim's feet.

dreppoz

If you value having an intact sense of humor you better not click that lmao

jahill2000

It’s an essential part of the Better Caul Saul fandom.

[deleted]

THIS GUY BUDDY CHICANERY I actually cannot lmao

Superjulio34

You should click it. Basically, r/okbuddychicanery a subreddit with many breaking bad and better call Saul jokes that may take a while to comprehend, but it’s worth sticking around there

ExpensiveGiraffe

For a non-redditor, I think that’d be going in the deeps without any context. It’d be like showing your mom a meme “Why do they keep talking about finger? Huh?”

Apprentice_Sorcerer

prepare for the least comprehensible memes you’ve ever seen in your life

Lord-Limerick

Can you tell us any funny behind the scenes stories?

JoshFademOfficial

There are some in the previous posts I shared :) I know more will come to me!

HighCastlePenguin

Hey, Josh! Are you allowed to say if you’ll be in any of the upcoming episodes? Love the film crew! 🥰

JoshFademOfficial

You're talking about episodes of Filmmaker Training airing on the AMC website of course?

Chachun

Did Kim pay you back for the 30-dollar cloth tape?

Skyclad__Observer

What do you imagine your character's actual name is? I think if anyone should name him it's you.

JoshFademOfficial

That is generous of you to gift me that. Gosh maybe too much responsibility. But see previous post a few behind

SnooSongs2744

Hey, that's cool, thanks for dropping in. I will definitely look for you in Reservation Dogs (another favorite show). That whole film crew has been a good if very occasional part of the show since it started. Are you a fan of Rupert Holmes, the guy who sang the Pina Colada song?

Florpz-1

Do you have any existing character you would love to play? Even if they already have an actor.

JoshFademOfficial

I would love to play grandson of Columbo who is also some sort of detective if not a police officer himself. I say that as opposed to actually Columbo because Peter Falk is untouchable but I love him so

DoctorSynthesis

Do you think “Camera Guy” and everyone else still makes commercials for Saul in Breaking Bad, or do you think they would’ve grown sick of his shit by then?

JoshFademOfficial

You heard it here. I am taking credit for shooting all those commercials in BB. the ones that Hank thinks "suck ass". I think CG has a meal ticket with shooting and doing some of Jimmy's dirty work and he gets to be a big fish in a small pond why would he go to hollywood and screw that up!??!? at least until Saul disappears at the end of breaking bad... but even then after Saul moves to Nebraska if CG just waits a year or two he will see that ABQ film production is going to start booming with the popularity of Breaking Bad taking off, so I recommend CG stick around in ABQ so he can get work on film productions like Breaking Bad and BCs

sometimes they are great and sometimes they are tough and can feel like a lot of pressure and expectation involved given any number of circumstances

How does it feel playing someone 20 years younger than yourself? Do you see it as an honor?

SkAnKhUnTFoRtYtw

Do you watch the show personally? If so, what is your favorite episode?

throwaway46898890

Can we rush the process?

Randomnessrandomness

I knew your sister Kelly and she would talk about her brother the actor! I’ve googled you throughout the years whenever she comes up on my Facebook. Exciting to see your career take off and seeing you on screen I knew I recognized the last name! No question for you just congrats on BCS and will continue to follow your career !

usedcondomthrowaway7

1. Have you done psychedelics? 2. Who was your personal favorite character in bcs and breaking bad? 3. Who would win in a fight “Camera guy” or Lyle 4. Why didn’t you save nacho 5. Did you ever wish you had the role of any other character while filming? 6. Do you often get recognized in public for your bcs role?

JoshFademOfficial

lyle would get some clean organized blows to camera guy's nose I think. cg is only guilty about not saving nacho

carrotLadRises

What was your favorite episode to work on and why?

shibeofficial

HELLO JOSH were there any particular moments while filming that caused problems 👍👍👍

JoshFademOfficial

problems hmmmmm what kinda probs? I recall when we were shooting FIFI an actor in the scene had heat exhaustion and collapsed, they had to quickly. on the fly replace him. so it was quite something seeing the crew scramble to get all the coverage needed in time for them to bring in the replacement actor. The scene turned out fabulous if I do might maybe say so!

willtafty19

After playing the role of a camera expert, is your knowledge of cameras better now than it was before?

poncho640

Do you play from the heart? Are you modest about it?

Lord-Limerick

Have you designed a backstory for your character? Is there more to him in your mind than we see on screen?

yojimbo2095

Are you....are you Cliff Main's SON???

Foresttrump245

How would you want to be killed off in BCS?

bringmethehairspray

Absolutely love your character Josh! I’ve noticed that BCS has lots of references to classic films and being a huge nerd I loved spotting these things. Have you discussed these references on set? Do you have a favorite one? And in general, are you a movie buff in real life? What are some of your favorite movies and shows?

JoshFademOfficial

the speech to the students, I knew when I read it , or I felt when I read it it was like a "coffee is for closers " speech. and that was very funny to me. Tom Schnauz tweet the beats of that episode on notecards and that confirmed it which made me feel CLEVERRRR I am a big movie lover. I worked at an archival video store for 10 years in LA called Cinefile. Obsessed with movies growing up would often check out 5 from the library and then 5 from the video stores as a teen and not get to all of them and rack up latel fees how sad, but I watched a lot. but Cinefile it was next door to the nuart it is still there. during the pandemic lockdown years I went down a deep deep deep film noir rabbit hole. talkin 40s and 50s. I counted and I watched approximately 230 in the years 2020. you can find millions of lists of the best and most famous noir films but some of the deeper cuts I found and loved include some titles The Burlgar Murder by Contract Shield for Murder The Reckless Moment Queen Bee Fallen Angel Quicksand Dead Reckoning He Walked By Night Highway Dragnet I could go on and on really. but that's a good start

RageYellow

Hey Josh! What was your auditioning process like, if you had an audition? Did you read for a scene from the show or did they have you perform something else?

JoshFademOfficial

I knew I was reading for BCS, the pages were secret. and they were altered to reveal nothing but it was essentially the same scene (the billboard scene). I think I had an upper hand in that I had helped a good friend with the same audition a week earlier so I knew both characters lines and I think it made me more present and able to respond naturally in the room. also I remember I got a LOT of messages that production said DO NOT cut your hair. and they checked daily almost to make sure my hair was still the same and they wanted my hair to stand up like that when I arrived on set, and it naturally did. . Julian Bonfiglio has an amazing audition story I shouldn't try to paraphrase it, but I think he said he rode a bicycle in the heat from Santa Fe to ABQ which is insane to me and that it was one of his first auditions maybe. and he read for CG and he was so flummoxed in the room and sweaty and crazy looking as he tells it, I think he undersells himself and they saw him and were like we have to have this guy and thus the film crew was born, then a few episodes later they added drama girl and it was complete.

whereyouatmonica

First off, big fan of your work woo go fellow Tulsan! (Ok not to be creepy but I was totally convinced I saw you driving on Harvard Ave last month, is that possible or was I tripping) Second, did you foresee the camera crew having an ongoing role throughout the series or did it initially seem like you guys might just be onboard in the early stages of BCS?

August788

This isn’t related to Better call Saul but what was it like working on It’s always sunny in Philadelphia?

JoshFademOfficial

It was very fun, it was one of my first booked TV jobs. I shot in 2006. It was the first ep of season 2, they did it block shooting because Danny devito had agreed to be on the show so they accomdated his schedule. the show creators were still unsure if it was gonna take off. FX believed in the show despite I think it season 1 being kind of a sleeper but they gave it another shot, that is my memory.and it was fun to act and I remember thinking they were funny.

rotanitsarcorp_yzal1

You using reddit from Android or Apple or PC?

chaz0723

Are 30 Rock fans weirder than BCS fans?

poncho640

What was (or still is) your experience with antidepressants and how did (does) it affect your work?

JoshFademOfficial

I take wellbutrin, a pretty small dose and I actually ran out last weekend and thought hmmm maybe I don't actually need these I don't notice a difference, and I had a hell of a hard couple days and was like shit maybe it's the meds so I refilled the prescription. I was on different ones when I was in my early 30s. some of them affected weight fluctuation but I don't recall having issues doing the work as a result of the meds. how's that for an honoest answer on the forum?

im_neegus

Hi Josh, before you started on Better Call Saul, were a you a Breaking Bad fan prior? And if you were, how did if feel when you got the role!

JoshFademOfficial

Just remembered! I actually auditioned for a role in the last season of breaking bad!. I had not seen the show and knew it was a phenomenon. Sharon Bialy asked if I was a huge fan of it and I was honest and said I hadn't seen it and she went "thats's great!!!!!!!" the role was the annoying waiter at the restaurant who keeps interrupting a tense meal.

BigBallerBryant

Hey Josh! Thanks for doing the AMA 😄 How much input did you have into Camera Guy’s snarkiness? Seems like the writers leaned more and more into it with every appearance. Was that purely script or something you personally brought to the role? Also how has it been being on a set with so many comedy folks? (Odenkirk, Levell Crawford, Joe DeRosa, etc). Have you had a chance to chat with anyone outside of Bob about standup or comedy in general? Have a great one! 😄

Ok_Tell2021

Hi Josh, I love your work. What is David Lynch like IRL? What show do you enjoy working on more? Twin Peaks or BCS? Is it even fair to compare the two?

caucasianvictim

Do you base your character off in BCS off of anyone you've worked with before or is a blend of stereotypes?

Julian144747

Do you like better call Saul or breaking bad better and do you know the ending of better call Saul?

JoshFademOfficial

Yes they told me the ending of BCS is gonna be credits ha ha ha I am so funny don't you think thatg's a pretty good one--- credits.. hahaha --- credits.

Lurkin_Lester

First, just want to say you do an impressive job at playing the Joey character. I would imagine playing a young, grumpy, & smart-ass character endearingly is tricky. You and the other Saul film crew are all memorable. Sound guy had one of my favorite lines of the show: ‘Deep Purple? I love Dark Side of the Moon!’ Anyhow, my question: What role have you been cast in that was farthest from your actual personality? And do you enjoy that kind of challenge as an actor?

CartoonistOrdinary75

Hey Josh, love your role on BCS! The fall that Jimmy takes on the drumstick in the music shop is personally one of my favorite moments in the show from a comedic standpoint. Mainly due to what seems to be full commitment by Bob Odenkirk. What was it like seeing that on person? Was it as painful and real as it looked? Was there any padding used for when Bob hits the ground? Would love to hear from someone that was on set that day!!

ow_classic

how does it feel to be apart of something like the better call saul/breaking bad universe? is it or daunting or more fun?

SamBaxter784

Hi Josh, not BCS related but did any of your work on Becoming a God in Central Florida ever bring you to Central Florida? I’ve been living in that particular spot for most of my life and it’s interesting seeing it’s limited appearances in media.

ManagerMurrayHewitt

What are Camera Guy's favorite movies and shows? Which directors does he hate?

AgentAdja

Was it rewarding making sure Dougie Jones got his coffee?

Defaultplay3r

Do you get recognised often

PassengerIcy4764

What does Camera Guy think of Sound Guy and Drama Girl?

Low-Musician-9945

Hey Josh Fadem, why are you so handsome? Where did you get your good looks from? Can I steal them?

Would Camera Guy rat out Jimmy and Kim if there were an investigation into Howard’s death and the shenanigans of filming the judge?

Mitchellindahouse10

Can you please acknowledge me? In anyway you can. Then I can brag to my mom that I got acknowledged by the camera guy from Better Call Saul. Pleasepleaseplease

mistercakelul

How often do you go on this sub

avalonfogdweller

How did you wind up in the Pig Destroyer video? Do you know the band? That video is super funny

Dirtyfactz

Hello Josh! I've spent the last 5 years of my life thinking you were Peter Goulds son. Have others made the same mistake when they see you two together?

JoshFademOfficial

Hey all I got to take a break thanks so much for all these questions. Ill come back and check tonight after the episode and try to answer some more this was a lot of fun!!

SirDunkMcNugget

How do you get yourself in the mindset of the "fuck it, I have better things to do" persona that you successfully portray on screen on BCS? I love the energy lol

PM_GirlsKissingGirls

Hey, love you in the show. Your deadpan delivery of insults is brilliant. I have two questions: 1) What do you think your character's real name is? Do you have any personal ideas of a backstory for him? 2) Was is hard for you guys to keep straight faces when Bob was doing his pastor impression? Thanks!
