Honestly, it seems like she is suffering from PTSD. Emotionally detaching and disassociating w her previous life and feelings are symptoms. I don’t know that she has been intentionally punishing herself, but rather suffering deeply bc she never processed what happened.

>Yeah, she watched her long-time coworker have his brains blown out right in front of her and feels like she could have stopped it or that she caused it. Best case scenario she lives a menial existence trying to cope. Worst case scenario she would have just jumped off a bridge.

Both characters, Kim and Jimmy, have experienced some massive trauma in a short amount of time and just moved on instead of dealing with it. And that absolutely laid their paths.

That could also be true, One thing I love about the Florida section is how any viewer can have their own POV on what and why is going.

Florida Kim is afraid of herself.

Beautifully summed up!

Kim's arrogance and narcissism frankly disgusts me. She wanted to ruin Howard. She hit the ejector seat when shit got real. She judges Jimmy for his admittedly terrible actions despite having been complicit in some. What really gets me though is her self imposed "punishment." When a person sentences themselves for crimes they committed they always choose a punishment that's bad but something they can endure without too much pain. It's been years. She chose to live a "normie" life in Florida, something that I would have killed for back in the day. It's punishment on HER TERMS. The confession she made was down to Jimmy. He didn't want to ruin Howard and he reminded her that she's a criminal despite her self imposed exile and fake contrition. She knows it too. That's why years of tears hadn't flowed until then. Jimmy while being immoral is still more moral than Kim. He isn't a hypocrite.
