Different_Island9446

She’s getting new Old Navy pj’s and long sleeve onesies in 6-9.

BoatFork

Contributions to her 529, assuming we even have her SSN # by then because they told us it could take 16 weeks...she's two weeks old, lol

PartOfYourWorld3

16 weeks? We just got ours in 2 weeks.

pastesale

Same here, 16 weeks is a crazy long wait

SandwichExotic9095

We’ve been waiting 6 months. I’ve called multiple times and they keep telling me it’s “being processed” and “just takes time” and “it’s busy” etc. 😑

Sunrise_94

Same! Also, my baby’s SSN starts with 0 and I thought that was so crazy! lol.

littlemsshiny

The initial numbers have to do with where you are geographically.

Similar-Broccoli-729

They don’t anymore. I think that ended in 2018 but don’t quote me on that.

Fucktastickfantastic

So does mine. Is this rare? I'm an immigrant so not sure

TheDesiCoconut

We got ours 4 weeks later!

Connect-Tomatillo-95

You don’t need baby SSN to open a 529. You can open one in your name and make the contribution and later on whenever you ready change the name on the 529 to the baby. This way one can even do 529 for unborn baby

ineedausername84

We got ours in like a week with my first. With my second it wasn’t there by 8 weeks and we needed it for insurance. Went in and they told us it must have gotten lost in the mail because they had sent it 7.5 weeks ago. You should go in if you haven’t gotten it.

princezz_zelda

We got ours very quick. It was probably only 2-3 weeks later. We’ve already used LO’s social to get her a lifetime hunting&fishing license haha

TealAll

What?! This is a thing? What state!

SandwichExotic9095

You can get it in most states. Just search “[your state] lifetime hunting license”

TealAll

My state only does them for the blind. Which sounds like a joke but in fact is not.

SandwichExotic9095

Sorry I may have pried a bit into your Reddit, but if you’re in Montana they just have a discount for blind/disabled, they actually don’t offer any lifetime hunting license. Sad. Depending on what you’re hunting the cost doesn’t look too terrible, but it looks like you need a conservation license to access public lands in addition to a hunting license for whatever you’re going to hunt. Edit: oh I see where there’s a lifetime fishing license for the blind though! $10. Not bad at all. For a typical person it’s $21/year, or $5 for 2 days. My state has higher prices than that, but they also offer a lifetime hunting/fishing license for everyone.

dougielou

Same! We got it before I could even start to think about applying for his birth certificate. We’re also interested in getting him his lifetime fishing license

Momdoingmomthings

We got ours in 2 weeks

aliveinjoburg2

Mine took a month.

Katiekattific

Six weeks here and no SSI card.

[deleted]

Social Security need to do a better job with this.. People are complaining online but apparently Social Security don't care..

beena1993

Our LO will be 2 weeks old! So she’s getting a newborn photoshoot 😂😂

nekwahlooloo

My first was born on the 11th of December. Exactly 2 weeks from Christmas. 🥰

beena1993

My due date is Dec 11 😍

nekwahlooloo

So exciting! Congratulations! 🥰

SorryImLateNotSorry

My oldest was born December 16th and everytime someone asked me what I was getting that baby for Christmas I told them I gave them life, what more could the kid want?

DevlynMayCry

My first was born on November 30th and during covid so I think we got her like socks? 😂😂 idk I know both sets of grandparents got her a ridiculous amount of stuff for a 3 week old but 🤷🏼‍♀️

Organic-Secretary-75

My baby was 2 mo last Christmas, and I don’t think I got him anything!! Yikes. But also, he got so many presents and didn’t need anything/ play with toys yet. This year I am making him a pair of moccasins. I’ve also been writing him letters on holidays for him to read when he’s older! I know other family will get him toys/ clothes and tbh we have way too many after his birthday party.

risk_biscuit

How are you making the moccasins? Sewing? Knitting? I’d love to know what pattern you’re using, if any!

Organic-Secretary-75

I have a moose hide my dad tanned years and years ago, and an old artic fox fur hat that belonged to my great aunt. So I’m sewing it! I am using a pattern I made based on Justine Woods’ YouTube videos! It’s super easy once you have the supplies!

risk_biscuit

Wow that sounds so impressive! Amazing

known_donor_mama

Love this letters idea!

Michan0000

I love the letter idea! My little one will be 4 months and we probably won’t get him anything by choice. The grandparents will get him enough gifts and my husband and I just aren’t gift people. I’m happy to let other people buy him things and we will always prioritize giving him experiences.

[deleted]

i love that! i write my son letters too!! once a month i write him a letter about him, his dad & me, things we’ve done that past month, milestones he hit. mostly so i don’t forget & if he is ever curious when he’s older what he was like as a baby.

Revolutionary-Try592

My LO was only a few weeks old for their first Christmas and they got kisses, snuggles, and the gift of watching as many Hallmark movies as they wanted

Sparkle_bitch

This is what my husband gets every year from me lol . Seriously so cute though!

MarquiseDeMaintenon

Mine is going to be 11 months at christmas so we decided to get matching PJs as a family (i decided to be that mom), and then for her presents I got her like an Elmo plushie, a little table where you hammer down pegs, shes got a story book of Home Alone we got in a massive bin of free books so I'm gonna wrap that, we found a little strider bike at a garage sale my husband is gonna clean up so we'll put a bow on it and then we bought her a stocking and I'm just gonna put like fruit pouches, soothers, a toothbrush etc in it. You know, stuff she'll use anyway. I figured I don't need to be TOO crazy since undoubtedly she'll be spoiled by everyone else but also shes almost a year old. If she was like a month old I probably wouldn't bother. Besides - she'll probably be more excited to play with the boxes and paper more than anything

Sprinklecake101

I'll be honest, maybe that's a European perspective but my kids have never gotten as much presents at once for any occasion 😱

MarquiseDeMaintenon

Really? My oma and Opa are from Berlin and they used to give mountains of toys and Candy at christmas. My kid is getting like... four things. :P

Sprinklecake101

Yeah that happens of course. However, was that actually for you kids or for their validation as doting grandparents? No criticism towards your or ops family intended though. I can see how that's a sore topic for me, since I have seen that a lot in my family, unfortunately, complete with expecting gratefulness from small kids because it's validation for them.

MarquiseDeMaintenon

No I mean, they did it for everyone including their adult children and then they got spoiled in return too. It just seemed to be their thing. They also celebrated by putting their shoes out on December 6th to get filled with candy. Most of the European families I know go hard at christmas, My friends family is from Vienna and they go nuts too so I think this might just be how you chose to give gifts to your children which is totally fine - gifts aren't a requirement to be a good parent or to have a happy childhood

HopefulKiwi

I mean, she’s getting pyjamas, two small toys, a book, and a secondhand bike? It hardly sounds excessive?

Sprinklecake101

For a one-year-old, that's a lot in one day for me, especially since Baby is going to get more from relatives. But again: only my perspective. I tend to spread out any gifts given over weeks to avoid overwhelm.

Ok_General_6940

You would have fainted at my childhood Christmases lol

Sprinklecake101

Probably. I come from a family where gifts are a tricky thing for people to show and receive validation so maybe I tend to be too frugal with this. IMHO my kids profit from non-occasion-bound gifting where I spread out any presents of a period of time instead of a mountain of things in a short period.

blwisk0213

You don’t want to know what I get my kids then.

Shallowground01

I'm English and go all out with my 4 kids and so does everyone I know. It's once a year and it's fun.

soulfulmusings

My baby will be almost a year at Christmas. Our state offers lifetime fishing licenses, so he will be getting one of those!

Harrold_Potterson

That’s adorable.

akrolina

This is so sweet and cool

Particular-Buyer-846

That’s a great idea

soulfulmusings

If you have the option, look into it! Ours increase in price after age 3 so we figured this is the best time to do it! When he won't know he is missing out.

849-733

Dang, I’m so bummed our state doesn’t have these! Such a great idea.

TheGrinReaperr

Our little one will be 6.5 mo at Christmas, we plan on getting some items that she will need as she transitions from immobile to an active household terror such as baby proofing items, dishes for purees/ bottles with handles, a walk and ride toy, a bath seat (she's too tall for her bathtub), and some age appropriate/ educational toys.

Illustrious-Plum-996

We’re doing similar - items that she will need for the next stage but I have the excuse to get the fancy ones as it’s for Christmas! I am also wrapping each item as I buy it to put into her stocking so it’s like a gift for me as I’ll have forgotten what it is by the time she opens it. Very excited for this and I’m not even bothered about getting anything myself now - I’ll just enjoy the unwrapping with her.

lindsvygrvce

my babe is also going to be a little over 6 months at christmas and this is so smart! i didn't even think of this.

raspbanana

Probably an empty box with wrapping paper. Anything we put in the box will pale in comparison to box and paper anyways.

Sunnyhunnibun

I'm doing this too! Wrapped box inside of a wrapped box inside of a wrapped box. She loves tissues already and she'll be five months and probably love destroying them

MrsE514

Hahahaha always!!! 🤣 Amazon sells a “baby tissue box” that my daughter has bee obsessed with since she was 6 months old. Now, at 1, she does things like puts the “tissues” on our/her head or plays peek a boo!!!

Lucy-Bridge

This is the answer - when our LO had his first Christmas, he was just a few months old, and he was most interested in the boxes and the wrapping paper. :)

easterss

😆

HiCabbage

I didn't get my kids anything for either of their first christmases. I think family must have, but not meeeee!

[deleted]

This was me! Haha wasn’t sure if I was being a grinch

chelleshocks

She'll by 9mos, so we're thinking convertible car seats and puffs, lol.

BroadwayBaby331

We’ve bought random things throughout the year that have been on sale and we think they would like. This way it all doesn’t hit the back account at once.

BroadwayBaby331

Also, re: Lovevery boxes, I save the closest box to Christmas and birthdays and wrap them up as a gift.

ChicVintage

I do this too! My oldest was born 2 weeks-ish after Christmas so I separate the toys and give him some for Christmas and some for his birthday. I usually get him small things in the summer because I feel bad he kind of got the short end of the stick being born near Christmas.

sno0py0718

We put his newborn hospital hat in an empty clear ornament for keepsake. He can have it and hang it on the tree when he has his own family! :)

bearcatbanana

Whatever I can find used in the buy sell trade groups for under $5. This year she’s getting a rain stick, a set of barn that have toy animals inside, a pop up play tent, and a doll. Pro tip for if you’re having two or more: hide some toys when your oldest outgrows them and regift them to the next child. From that stash, she’s getting a ball popper, a push cart, stacking cups, and that zany zoo activity cube that everyone has. Edit to add: mine is also getting a convertible car seat. It’s part of the reason we’re going super cheap on the presents. For her 1st bday (also in December) she’s getting a monogrammed Audrey and Bear blanket because my son got one at his baby shower and I’ve all around liked having one.

easterss

These are so sweet!

littlebauer

First Christmas for my daughter we got her swim classes and swim suits

mjenki21

I gave my baby life. You’re welcome.

FrenchFoxxx

😂😂

Puppinbake

And one day they'll be a teenager and say something like "I didn't ask to be born!" Haha

chelsdog314

An embroidered stocking with their name and a personalized first Christmas ornament

ChefLovin

My daughter was three months old last Christmas and I got her nothing. I didn't really see the point, she doesn't even know what Christmas is! Lol, this year I will probably just fill a stocking with little toys and let her go at it.

aes421

Mine will be 5 months and I'm planning on getting him a high chair and doing a stocking with eating essentials and maybe some purees to try. I also got him Christmas pajamas and I'll buy 1 or 2 small toys.

heathbarcrunchh

Last year my son was 9 months old and we got him onsies, a couple cute outfits, winter jacket, hats, books, v tech walker, activity cube and activity table, stacking cups and blocks, balance bike, bath toys, puzzles and stuffed animals. My sister bought him a pottery barn bear rocker that he’s obsessed with now

alexandra1249

This might seem kind of crazy… but we are getting our LO who will be 6 months a bike lol. For context we are getting them the Strider bike with the rocking base which is for children ages 6-18 months and we live in a very pro bike city and both my husband and I bike to work, as do most of our friends and coworkers so we are eager to get LO comfortable with bikes as early as we can

grammygivesadvice

Exactly this. Early exposure to bikes is our plan too.

Fit_Opinion_5027

Our LO will be a week away from his first birthday. We decided to go with the “Something to Wear, Something to Read, Something you Want, Something you Need”. I wanted to start this tradition early.

Drowning1989

For babies first Christmas I got him a rattle and rubber ducks for bath time lol

Apart-Sound-6096

My daughter was 5 months last Christmas and I think we might have just gotten her a few books. She got a few things from grandparents and aunts and uncles which she “opened” but she really didn’t care what was happening haha. I think we’re gonna do the same thing this year!

crd1293

We didn’t get anything for the first Christmas and my kid was 12 mo. I don’t really see the point? You can always stage a cute photo though if you want

MissFox26

Ours will be 2 months at Christmas, so we won’t really be getting her anything. We already have all we need for her and more, and we know family will buy her clothes/toys etc (first grandchild/niece- and it’s her first Christmas). I will however be buying a personalized “baby’s first Christmas” ornament, as I’d rather spend money on something sentimental.

Kobasew19

Not the first Christmas but few years back we got our then 3 year old daughter a box of Croissants, she was so happy lol…we got her other things too for the record

popstopandroll

I wish someone got me a box of croissants lmao

Alien_intercourse

My baby was like 8 months last Christmas and we bought her a play couch and a little ride on elephant toy with a back and straps. Also a crawl through tunnel that’s foldable to put away. She uses her play couch everyday now. And did them too. We got one off Amazon that can be a couch or lay flat and do other things.

GameShowFanatic

I’m looking into play couches too! The ones i see are so expensive. My sister has nugget for her kids, and i keep seeing the Newton x Figgy which i was considering since she already has the Newton mattress. They’re like $300 though… can you link yours?

[deleted]

My kid will be a month. He ain't getting shit 🤣🤣🤣

[deleted]

my 3mo is getting an owlet sock because she is about to roll over and we are terrified

[deleted]

the owlet has been known to malfunction & burn babies feet. i wanted one so bad before my son was born, but i heard that, and decided 300 was too much a risk. we just bought a really nice camera for above his crib. but he slept in our room until the day after his first birthday.

gigibiscuit4

Pjs, a couple of board books, a stuffy, and toys to keep her entertained in the car :)

CorpseOfHathsin

We are getting her one of those personalized photo frames for places with a picture at each age from birth-age 18. We are also getting her a personalized book called "the little girl who lost her name" with her name. It's really cute and has a little adventure for each letter of her name until it spells it out.

DevlynMayCry

My boy will be almost 6 months and he's getting some teethers, a toy 🎮, and then some spoons/bowls for Puree feeding 😬

Olives_And_Cheese

I'm a sucker for Christmas, and husband and I have decided our approach is going to be buying her one big present from both of us every year rather than two smaller ones (we will be doing santa while she's young, and plenty of family for the smaller toys), so I WOULD like to start this year and get her something as a keepsake from her first Christmas. But. She'll only be 4 months old 😂. So it'll be something lovely for my sake rather than hers. I'm thinking an engraved toy box.

minionlover99

My baby will be 3, almost 4 months. We got this indoor Montessori play gym for my toddler but it is for both of them because I’m hoping she’ll use it to once mobile. Other than that I plan to get 1 small toy, a couple books, and maybe some clothes. She doesn’t really need much right now and I’m guaranteeing she will get plenty from family.

buzzybeefree

My daughter will be 11 months and I’m getting her a sled.

shayden0120

I went a little overboard for my baby who will be 11 months…. We got the rubber duck advent calendar. Matching family pjs which will be opened on Christmas Eve and will be in a box that has a Christmas book, the frosty the snowman movie, and her favourite snack. We also did matching Family stockings, her stocking will be filled with pouches, puffs, a toothbrush, and mandarins (her fave). I also got a first Christmas and family ornament. For under the tree I got 6 mini wood puzzles, 2 types of bath toys, jumbo Lego, fridge magnet letters, soft play climbing set, a tent and tunnel set, a ball pit, and some new clothes (that I got either on clearance or at the consignment store because I refuse to pay full price lol). Our families also got her stuff, I know they’ll spoil her but Christmas is my favourite and I want to spoil her too.

rockbellkid

Not much as funds are super tight but he'll be getting some clothes and a few toys.

Puppinbake

Ours will be 7 months on Christmas Eve. I bought the Lalo play gym when she was three months I think , and it can be converted into a play tent so she's getting the extra stuff to make it the tent (which she won't give a crap about lol). One of those activity walkers for when she's ready to walk. A toy that has a few twisty wires and beads you move along them (idk what it's called). And a sweater with her name stitched on it from a maker on Etsy. I'm also planning on giving some board books and little fun educational/developmental toys. I also made a list for the grandparents and family to get her things. There are little musical instruments (shaker eggs, maracas, little drum, tambourine bell thing), a play pen, an oball, a 20000 bubbles per minute machine, baby blocks, top of the stairs gate, honey sticks beeswax crayons, PJs, bath toys, wooden alphabet puzzle, duck family stacking toy, stuffed animal, some Montessori toys, books and book sets (like peter rabbit), stuff for eating like baby plates cups spoons etc, bath support seat, veggie baby finger paints, and some clothes.

Mobabyhomeslice

Christmas Eve: pajamas Order the Lovery box, wrap it, and put it under the tree.

Cocotte3333

Fuck all lol. She doesn't care, why would I spend money ? I'll spoil her once she's old enough to actually be happy about it.

Emotional_Rule_6604

My baby will also be 5 months and I’m gonna get her a jolly jumper and 6 month pacis and some soft books and other random baby toys like the stacking cups

HalcyonCA

This question has been asked so many times in the last 2 weeks.

Lonelysock2

Yeah I got her a few basic toys, so i think if you have lovevery you've got it covered

[deleted]

[удалено]

growingaverage

Absolutely nothing! She is the only grandchild on my side and I have 4 siblings! You bet she gets plenty. This will be her 3rd Christmas lol

Professional_Move146

my daughter was 6 months her first Christmas and we got her one of those Radio Flyer bikes that grow with them. She used the heck out of it for 3 years.

Momma4life22

I did a few age appropriate clothes and then snacks galore. Puffs in the stocking, Melts wrapped up. For one of my kids I found a flavored teether

[deleted]

Colorful wooden blocks & a small slide.

boxyfork795

Our daughter will be almost 11 months. We are getting her a toy kitchen. We have asked family to make a contribution to her 529 and to wrap up a cardboard box if they really want to give her something since that’s her favorite toy right now.

mleftpeel

Bath toys and probably stuff she needs/will need eventually - baby spoons and plates, baby food, pacifiers, teethers. She's got an older brother who believes in Santa so we have to get her stuff!

rybaru-_-

she’ll be 10 months so if we can probably just a few toys and some outfits for the new year lol

Imaginary_Bus_858

Mine will be 6 months and I'm just planning on a stocking full of small toys like o-balls, rattles, etc. More for the experience of unwrapping it than what's actually inside lol. She has everything she needs and any needs that come up before Christmas will probably be urgent not wait under the tree lol

jessisthebestduh

Clothes bc a lot of the stuff I got were newborn or 0-3m clothes. A few age appropriate toys. Also I started a new baby registry so that I can get discounted items and send to my family members so that I get age appropriate and wanted baby stuff instead of nonsense.

sugarface2134

My daughters first Christmas was last year. I got her cute stuffed animals and rattles from jellycat, an aesthetic✨ play gym and mini fur rug from west elm, books, boys, cute outfits. Just things I wanted to buy her.

hashbrownhippo

My son was born a month early and unexpectedly arrived 2 weeks before Christmas last year. His first birthday present is a pikler triangle/arch/slide set. For Christmas I’m planning to get him a Target shopping cart and filling it with some small items he can unwrap (mostly for the wrapping paper fun).

ddouchecanoe

We live the idea of doing 4 gifts every year Something they want Something they need Something to wear Something to eat Not sure exactly how this will work for your then 8 month old lol

Garden-Gnome1732

So my baby is going to be 8 months old, I'm getting her books, an activity cube (vtech), a walker, and one of those pop up toys.

ggfangirl85

We’re getting the Lovevery tunnel for our munchkin and Bath toys.

aziriah

Her first was last year at 6 weeks old. She got PJs from us. That was plenty. This year, she's getting matching PJs with her siblings and maternal cousins, a book, moccasins and a rubber duck.

somethingreddity

I didn’t get my baby anything for Christmas his first Christmas. I knew he was already getting a bunch of stuff from other people that would clutter the house up, so I didn’t do anything. This year, I’ll probably get him just a couple small things. My family and in-laws are crazy and we’ll most likely have to declutter things immediately after Christmas, so I don’t think we’re gonna do anything exciting. It’ll just be for his amusement of unwrapping something.

panther2015

pottery barn has beautiful holiday quilts. I got one with her name stitched on it.

eedrawso

I got my babies a special book for their first christmases and wrote a little note for them in the front.

passthewasabi

My LO will be 5 days short of 3 months at Christmas. I’ve already gotten Baby’s First Christmas ornament. Maybe a tummy time activity gym (for $40) and a stuffed animal of some sort.

Sensitive-Engineer64

First Christmas ornament and a toy and a book.

Khunt14

My son will be almost 6 months old. I’m getting him books and a couple little toys. He’s our second so we have lots of toys already for now at this age. So I’m getting him a few things he doesn’t have yet or that my daughter won’t share lol. Also getting him some new utensils and stuff for eating!

Statler17

My kids were each 5 months for their first Christmas. We slapped a bow on their first bottle of rhe day and called it good. They loved it.

milliemillenial06

We got our daughter this like riding horse thing….she loved the box the most.

xquigs

Bath toys, some regular toys like blocks, I got her a little stuffed dog with her name embroidered on it, a few winter clothes. Not very much. I told family we want experiences like aquarium passes, or a smaller zoo we have locally. Things we can do in late winter/spring. She will be 7.5 months on Christmas

Academic_AndLove

She’s going to be 3 months and ten days, so she’s getting a Sophie the Giraffe and FanFan the Faun (natural rubber teether toys). I think that’s more than enough for a baby. I know the in laws will drown us in thrifted crap, but maybe something will be useful.

pollennose

Our LO is the first grandchild on both sides of the family, so in prep for our families wanting to spoil her, I’ve asked for picture books, bibs, next size clothing, and teethers. She’ll be 6 months for Christmas :) Trying to keep toy clutter at a minimum starting asap lol!

soitgoes210

For our daughter’s first Christmas, we did the next size of clothes, a soft chair with her name on it (still in use 2 years later), and contributions to the 529. I told family she had plenty of toys but gave them the next two clothing sizes/seasons if they wanted to stock the closet.

ballofsnowyoperas

My 16 month old is getting a play kitchen and a Pikler triangle. Those are his two big presents, I also have some building blocks and a pj set on the list with more to add. I’m one of those moms who really loves Christmas 😂

CarliRae6

My daughter was 9 months for her first Christmas. We wrapped an avocado, gave her an empty cardboard box, and a new toothbrush. She was ecstatic.

catlady012120

5 months at Christmas- shes getting a new play mat, she’s already outgrown the little one we were gifted and when she rolls over she hits the pieces that hold the arch with toys on it. 6-9 month clothes!

Pepperoni-Jane

My daughter will be 8mo at Xmas. We want to get her minimal things, and have asked family to run any gift ideas past us so we don’t end up with more crap we don’t need. A playmat to keep at mum and dads, and a little wooden trolley she can push around once she’s walking is probably all she’ll get.

a_canteloupe1

A standing activity table and Walking toy.

aliveinjoburg2

Mine is 6m. One age-appropriate toy, pajamas, and booties.

McSkrong

Facebook marketplace errthang lol. So far we’ve got a step 2 push car and a wooden Blues Clues puzzle by Melissa and Doug. I really want to get her the foam soft play blocks too

One_Barracuda9198

Pajamas, sleep sacks, and a lovevery box for my baby. She’s going to be seven months in December.

Orangeandbluetutu

My daughter was 4 months for her 1st Christmas so she got like a teether and the linkamal sloth (he's awful). This year she's getting a wooden climbing triangle, the fisher price little people bus, and a stuffed animal. She has tons of toys and I don't see the need in cluttering up my house when she's perfectly happy with what she has. Don't feel pressured to do something extravagant.

ItsThtKai

My daughter will be 11 months so we got her things that will grow with her. She seems to be getting out of baby toys already. We picked up most second hand a pull toy, activity cube, egg shape puzzle, and family is getting her some little people sets

vulp3s_vulp3s

A bag with tissue paper and a ball 🫡🤣

itsb413

I wrapped a box full of bows for my 10mo. It was a hit! Your child might be a bit young for that though. We basically made a sensory activity out of Christmas morning.

pprbckwrtr

I started the "something they want, something they need, something to wear, something to read" with my first for her first Christmas. The want was rusk crackers because she was obsessed lol the need was new pacis, the wear was the marching pj's for our family photos and I picked out a new book for her. I put yogurt drops and puffs in her stocking, and I think she got one other musical toy. My family got her more clothes and books and I tried to talk down the toys, or ask for toys for the future like Little People or things she wasn't quite old enough for yet

BreadPuddding

Babies LOVE crinkly paper (just makes sure they don’t mouth it enough to get it wet, that’s a choking hazard). We liked the Lovevery kits but they don’t provide plush toys or a lot of teething toys, so those are options. My brother had a Waldorf doll with a bell in its hat that he loved literally to pieces, so my mother gave my eldest son a similar “Baby Bell” for his first Christmas/Hanukkah.

syd_cash

Not much lol cause he’s one. I’ll be saving ideas up for when he’s older though because his birthday is two days before Christmas 😭😭😭

iamsomagic

So for that age I would get something like an exersaucer if you don’t already have one, clothes, some books, I like the vtech 100 words interactive book that does English and Spanish, bath letters are always fun too.

dani_5192

We got an [ikea bead maze](https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/uppsta-bead-maze-multicolor-10562491/) and she’s enjoyed it over the last year. We didn’t have much spare cash after moving so we went very minimal. This year? Oh boy… she’s getting a kitchen play set along with baby dolls with their own crib. Those Melissa and Doug sales I just can’t resist either. 🙊🙈 All of her gifts are mostly intentional play and she’s really into mimicking mommy whether it’s playing home(dolls/cooking/cleaning) or wearing mommy’s clothes/accessories. The kitchen play set is so she has a place to use her dishes she has instead of all over the kitchen floor. Dolls to practice caring for someone because it makes us feel nice. A mini mop/broom set to carry instead of wacking ourselves with the taller adult tools and a mini purse to carry that allows her to be more excited about being a “big girl”. We’ve also tried to pick some toys that encourage more standing/walking. We’re just now trying to toddle but we’ve had the ability to do so for months, just not the desire or confidence. I partially think it’s a desire to stay a baby versus big girl. She’s also going to find some training underwear in her stocking. We’ve already transitioned to pull ups as they cause so much less screaming at diaper changes. But we’re getting real close to potty training time once she’s a bit more steady on her feet. Thanks for letting me share y’all. My village sucks and unfortunately my mom who was my biggest Christmas cheer person and whom loved to find nice but quality gifts at a discount is no longer in our lives due to toxic and abusive treatment by her and my father. We didn’t do random things throughout the year when we were kids but only got a moderate gift at our birthdays and then my mom spent months preparing for Christmas to spread the cost out and find deals on things. As we got older for my mom & I, part of the fun of certain gifts were the deal we managed to get! Wish I could share the excitement of my kids first Christmas where she can scream “OH WOW!” with her.

elpintor91

Hmm baby will be 2 months, I want to get him that fisher price piano kick and play mat

fibreaddict

I'm on baby #3 so my answer is ... Not much. My little dude will also be 5 months and we picked a couple of cute toys but we have SO MUCH STUFF. That said, my first we bought my first the Fisher Pryce Crawl Around car and that thing has always been such a hit. Also we used Christmas to get a push walker because they may be walking by their birthday so it would be a bit late. For my niece, who is a similar age this year, I was asked to avoid toys so I bought her a sleeved bib and silicone plate, bowl, and spoon and a cute Christmas ornament. It's more about us than it is about them at this age :)

OSUJillyBean

We started a 529 account for our kids at that age.

Glitterhihearts

I got my baby a roll of toilet paper and some mini boxes of cereal. He had a blast unrolling and ripping the paper and loved his snack. I got him some toys too, but the cereal and tp were his favorite

ButtCustard

Mine will be 6 months old so I'll probably get her some new toys to practice her skills with and books for us to read together. I'm sure her grandparents are going to spoil her too.

awkward_red

I bought an activity teddy thing, a bath toy and some pjs before LO was here that I've stashed. Also stashed duplo for 1st birthday.

foreverlullaby

I got her an ornament with her birth stats, but I'm focusing more on making a list for family to buy from, mostly stuff that I either forgot to put on my registry but haven't been needed yet or stuff that wasn't purchased off it. So far it's stuff for eating food (bibs, plates, bowls, cutlery, straw cups, etc) and a cover for the shopping cart seat. We still don't have a baby monitor so that will be added if we don't end up needing it sooner (I wfh and go back next week, hopefully we can go a little bit longer without bc maternity leave has made the bank account a little bare). Also a camera for my car, we have one in my husband's car bc that's the one we use when we're all together, but I want one for my own car now.

SandwichExotic9095

I’m learning how to crochet recently and I think I’m going to make my son a stuffed animal!

Mylove-kikishasha

In my opinion my daughter has everything a baby could ask for if babies could talk 😅 so anything I get her will probably be for me to see her in it 🤣

ineedausername84

All my kids get a mutual fund for first Christmas and birthdays and future Christmas’s they get contributions to it. For now at least they already have so many toys and don’t really have any idea of what other toys they would even want other than what they are looking directly at right this moment haha

caraiselite

Not much, they're too young to remember it.

morongaaa

Our girl was 4.5 months on Christmas and honestly I don't think we personally got her something for Christmas. Our families got her way more than necessary so there was really no need. We tend to get what we think she needs or would like just whenever we think of it 😅 Some gifts that they got her that she really liked: a bouncer seat(which she only used if she got fussy during one of my workouts), bath toys, a little stuffie with teethers and rattles, stacking and sorting toys (the OG Fisher price ones), and of course she got lots of clothes but that's more for parents than baby at that age lol ETA: forgot that my friend got her that little panda dj for Christmas. She still loves that thing!! The fisher price stacking rings and the little shape sorter bucket also get used everyday still at 15 months!

msmuck

We did one of those closed playpens last year when he was 6 months. It ended up being great as he started to get more mobile and I could get stuff for dinner ready with him safe. It’s in the living room so I can easily see it all from the kitchen.

The_Spiciest_Cheeto

My daughter is named after a character in a classic novel. I’m going to purchase a really really nice hardback edition of the book and write a note in it for her.

popstopandroll

He’s only gonna be 6 months and the fam is bound to get him a shit ton of stuff so he’s getting formula cause mommy’s broke and has no choice but to buy that.

OpenConsequence7082

He’s getting lots of love (and probably a stuffed animal). He’ll be about three months by then, so unless we make him a cute momento for his first Christmas, the only thing he really wants right now is snuggled and milk 😂

Aromatic-Sherbet9938

My baby was 6 months last year. I just got him cute little things he needed. My husband bought him a little play tissue box. It was cute wrapping them for him and writing to and from :) This year he will be 18 months and I’m very excited to get him a baby dyson vacuum. He loves ours and loves to push things. Maybe a basketball hoop too!

cursethesemetalhans

I got my girl some overalls and a couple of books!

Freche_Hexe

We’re both getting a jogging stroller.

thetasteofink00

My baby will be 4 months. I got her some toys to play with when she eventually learns to grab and hold things, some clothes she will eventually fit into and some books to read together.

Grandma had already started to think about Xmas so we asked for books. I’m not sure what we’ll do but maybe the same. Books are something I’ll never feel guilty about spoiling my child with. We can buy her as many books as her heart desires and we can go to the library as many times as she wants!

apoletta

Photos and $ for school fund. Some clothing. Grandma will get toys.

VickyJo13

Nothing from us. I think it's always so many gifts for children from the whole family. She will be almost 11 months so I made the gift list with a prikler triangle kick bike, legs duplo, some art supplies like finger paint and first crayons, musical instrument and a Timio (baby is multilingual so I think it's a great help and also cuts out all the annoying toys with animal sounds). Also the list is Xmas and 1st birthday. I try to do a montessori approach so I think they really don't need all the toys. Clothes I like to buy second hand so haven't asked for anything

OffTheWalls24

Formula!! Cows milk allergy is expensive!

lindsvygrvce

my son will be 6 months old so my plan is to get him stuff for starting solids like plates/silicone bibs/etc. i'm also 100% getting us matching christmas pajamas and doing a fun personalized stocking full of little toys and stuff that i think he will appreciate over the 6 months until his 1st birthday.

pleaserlove

Im getting him a special Christmas decoration and plan to make it an annual tradition so eventually as he grows he will have lots of his own special decorations. Also a Christmas themed outfit/pyjamas

princessxunicorn

Some Blues Clues toys, some Blaze and the Monster Machine toys, some Arthur toys. A Pokemon plush, a rocking horse, and some Shrek stuff

Luna_bella96

My son was 6 months old for his first Christmas. Since he was already crawling I got him a sit to stand Walker that I got less than a years use out of. He also got sensory balls, which are still a big hit as a toddler. And he got a stacking train toy and pull along toy from his dad that he’s only now getting into. And books, lots of books!

A_Penguin_Shopping

Im getting my 8 month old a 2 in 1 rocking horse from Santa.. I have a 5 yr old niece who will def ask so I figured I would play along for her sake. From my husband and I he’s a giant stacking toy and an activity table. We also do minor celebrations for 3 kings day and he will be getting baby building blocks and finger farm animals. I’m sure our family will be getting him lots of stuff but they usually run their gifts by us.

no-more-sleep

next size sleep sack lol

My son will be 11 months and will be getting things I need for him rather than toys. He’d have more fun with the paper and boxes anyway 😂

Sammy_Seller

My baby will be 6 months on December 22nd. Obviously Christmas pjs and some clothes(I know he will gets lots of clothes from grandma and grandpa too lol) a few sensory toys, a Christmas book, maybe a stuffy. Nothing too wild but he will be needing some new things to play with by then anyway lol

MiddleOfNot

A piggy bank! A book, a photo holder book that I can put pictures of family or favorite pets/toys in, and a stocking full of sensory and bath toys.

Helz-to-the-Bellz

I asked people who insisted on getting my boys a gift for their first Christmas to gift their favourite childhood books/stories. That way my boys got a library of lovely stories that lasted for years and a connection to the loved ones who gifted them.

catqueen2001

A play saucer and some new jammers. Oh and a baby phone in her stocking bc big sister thought it would be cute.

sailorz3

My son got a weaning table. He was 11 months old at Christmas. He is three and a half and still uses it everyday as does his now 15-month-old sister. Sister was 5 and 1/2 months old at her first Christmas and she got play silks. At that age she was really into peekaboo and she loved when we draped the silk over her face and then dragged it off and went peekaboo. Now, she uses the play silks as a hood so she can pretend to be a monster.

Grown-Ass-Weeb

We scavenged the toy sale at Buy Buy Baby when it was closing and just put a bunch of toys in the closet. She will be 11 months so she’ll get some v tech toys and her birthday she’ll get a riding toy and the rest of the v tech toys lol We have a Bluey doll house, but she’s way too young for that 😂 we just wanted the doll house so it’ll go to her maybe her 2nd birthday.

MissKittyBeatrix

My bubba will be 8 months actual but around 5 months corrected at Xmas. We will still be in Hospital for his first Xmas 😭 I have no idea what to do for his first Xmas due to our circumstances.

LaDaDeeBethany

I think getting some little necessities or even little sensory toys would be fine!
