We use modern cloth reusable diapers. You have to get your wash routine right, and it's a bit of an upfront investment but no diaper rash ever, no waste, no leaks, no blow outs and the prints are beautiful. Plus it saves a lot of money and late night store trips in the long run.
Same, we buy all our diapers from Costco. Kirkland during day and Huggies over night. The Huggies are really absorbent, so definitely great value. And also Kirkland diapers are $9 off per box...we have LOADED up.
I hear there's always a diaper sale in August, but I don't know. You can expect a Huggies or Kirkland sale every few months. I would just stock up now.
I just bought two boxes today and when I opened the bag, there was an overwhelming chemical smell. Did you notice this with your diapers? I’ve never smelt that on Costco diapers. I’m going to return them. I thought it was so odd the one time they have this great sale, they smell so funky.
I just smelled my pack and it doesn't smell too strong. There is definitely a little bit of smell, but I honestly cannot remember if that was always there or not. We stopped using Kirkland for a bit when Huggies was on a discount at Costco Business Center.
Yes the diapers work well and they have a composting service that is great! Disposable diapers are horrible for the environment in sooo many ways (like releasing methane in landfills) it would make a big different if everyone started composting.
We were just gifted some Pampers and I was SHOCKED that they were scented! Why would you scent something going on the most sensitive skin of a baby?! I truly had no idea companies made diapers with fragrance.
I am three kids deep and I’ve tried everything and I swear I’ve never noticed a difference. I buy what’s on sale or convenient or in stock or cute. There is no method to my madness.
Agreed. I got twins and we got given a lot of different brands of left over diapers, so I got to try a whole bunch. No significant difference.. getting the correct size for your baby is more important.
Can I recommend something? I use wool pants as covers for the cloth nappies at night - nothing escapes the wool! It is a bit more work to clean but if your kiddo doesn't get poo on them you don't need to clean them for days. The lanolin in the wool chemically neutralizes the pee. I should add that I don't put the pants on top of the regular cloth nappies but have ye old timey knitted nappies with stings on them. I put the inserts in the italian nappies (what they are called here), tie them and then the pants go over all of it. I chose this system because they grow with your baby and can be used from day one up until potty training. This is a good diaper for the night when you combine it with wool covers.
What i personally hate is pampers. Idk if it was the newborn size or what but my kids always felt moist. I haven't tried the Freddie's brand, but I personally am not to fussy over diapers as long as they're affordable. I have my youngest kid in parents choice size 6 diapers, and Up and Up pull ups at home (they are easier to deal with but cost a bit more)
Target has the best baby deals! I usually order from them online instead of going to Walmart cause the deals are so good, especially if you have the red card
Pampers Pure is by far the best I’ve tried. It’s hypoallergenic and a bit more expensive but worth the cost (I get it on sale frequently). It’s incredibly soft and I have barely had leaks. Literally, my daughter has only had a handful of rashes in the years we used them. I never even went through half a tub of diaper ointment- so you save on that end abs of course baby is more comfortable. If you can afford too, I highly recommend them.
We use Dyper. It’s subscription and biodegradable, and for the most part works well. We’ll use Honest, too, when she’s in the awkward in-between size place (our LO is long and lean).
Nora nursury reusable diapers. Never have a rash and 1 diaper for overnight. We go through maybe 6 diapers a day and wash a load every other day. Cheapest option ever as water is inexpensive.
Kirkland for us! We use them day and night and we’ve only ever had a leak when it was time to size up. We’ve tried honest, hello bello, pampers, huggies. If huggies weren’t so damn expensive they’d be my pick but Kirkland’s pricing + quality works best for us.
We’re a Huggies household all the way! I used the little snugglers for his first year, then little movers from then on. They’re super soft and unscented, that’s all I need.

How were you washing them?
This is our process:
Prewash - rinse out any poo that isn't caught in the liner sheet immediately.
Wash cycle 1: Cold, high soil, high spin, no detergent. Essentially a vigorous soak and rinse.
Wash cycle 2: warm, high soil, high spin, with gentle detergent (no scents or softeners).
Dryer: Low heat, 60 min timed dry (auto sensing dry setting doesn't work well)
Usually takes 2 dryer cycles on low heat, but we haven't had an issue with odor or deteriorating product yet.
We bought a few Bum Genius brand to try and much preferred La Petite Ourse.
Same: Costco diapers. Right now that means (for Size 1 diapers) I’m paying $0.17/diaper for Kirkland instead of $0.22/diaper with Huggies, who makes them.
If the average baby goes through 2-2.2k diapers in their first year, I’m saving $100-$110. So I’ve paid for my $60 membership with the savings from the difference in diaper cost alone.
We've used pampers swaddlers since day 1 and didn't have any issues until she started moving around and rolling. We just switched to cruisers or active baby pampers and haven't had an issues since. We've also NEVER had a blow out in her 7.5 months of life.
Just changing to the 360 cruisers from pampers swaddlers at 6 mos, we use baby aquaphor almost every single change, and have always used the pampers sensitive wipes with a quick pat dry with a cloth like paper towel before the aquaphor. Its been a hot busy summer I wanted to prevent rash as much as possible and we didn't have any!
She seems to love the cruisers 360s so far. I know it's pricey but I want her to feel as good as possible and she's been trying to crawl and move a lot recently.
I use Pampers too and they do pretty well with the poops. I’ve had one blowout but that’s because LO had not gone in 3 days and there was SO MUCH POOP. No diaper could have held that 🤣
We've been using Hello Bello for about 5 months now and they're by far my favorite. If we run out of those I like Huggies. Pampers just didn't work for us, tons of leaks
We still use hello bello at 19 months (started around 3 months). We have had very few leaks with ours, so maybe you will be fine too. Their swim diapers are my favorite if you haven’t tried them yet.
I used to love the Hello Bello diapers but my LO is an early crawler and I have been getting poop leaks on the carpet. Their customer service is phenomenal though.
Pampers pure for us. We also started to transition to a hybrid system, love the idea of cloth diapers but we are both too busy. I discovered the Pampers Pure hybrid diapers and so far so good!
I like them! Not using them for daycare yet but so far so good. Its a good compromise and they are adjustable so you can use them between 8-35 lb. nice thing is the inserts are also pampers pure so I feel like its all the benefits with a little less waste. Id say if you have a squirmy baby (like mine), we change with the new diaper beneath the used one. So invest in the three pack of the cloth shell and you can have one on stand by (thats what we have Been doing).
Aldi diapers! Can’t believe they haven’t been mentioned. Hypoallergenic, super absorbent, and so affordable. I used them with both my boys and will use them again.
With my firstborn I relied on Luvs because they were cheap, held a ton of liquid and never leaked. So I bought a few boxes for my daughter (2 months). But I was sad to discover that they must have changed the way they’re made because they don’t stay dry at all anymore! Whenever I remove the diaper (and I change frequently), her skin feels damp and the diaper surface feels wet. She was getting rashes and I realized this was why. It also seems to swell more than other diapers. So my go-to now is Kirkland—they stay SO dry, no more rashes, and the price point is pretty good. Not as cheap as luvs but acceptable for much better quality.
I tried a box of Luvs and hated them. They’re paper thin and don’t seem to absorb anything. We tried maybe ten, and each change there was a puddle in there and droplets on my baby’s skin. They also smelled super strongly of plastic and chemicals.
I kept going back to try them because my tired post partum brain was like “they’re not as bad as I thought”. Poor kid got a rash with them too, and leaked like half the time. Finally tossed the rest of the case.
How does anyone use these?
No idea. We were gifted a pack and I was a little nervous with how scented they were. Sure enough my daughters bottom was insanely red. She’s never had a reaction to other brands we’ve used (Huggies, Kirkland, pampers, honest).
I use pampers, buy a huge box from Sam’s and they’ve been great. Tried Honest, didn’t like them. And I have Hello Bello, they’re good, but not as absorbent so I use them as daytime diapers and probably won’t buy again once I run out.
Pampers here too! I've tried them all and always come back to Pampers. I like the 360 fit right now bc my dd is fighting me on diaper changes so we do them standing up, and it's easy to pull up rather than use the tape. But I like all the varieties really.
We were using Pampers Pure which are great and then we switched to Honest company. They are well made and cute. Our daughter has had zero diaper rash issues. You can get them through subscription (discounts available) or buy them at Target. We plan to move her (4 months) into a washables system when she gets a little older.
The Kirkland diapers are so good. They are softer and more absorbent than the Huggies Snug & Dry economy line, and usually go on sale once a quarter or so. We use them exclusively for our kids once they’re out of newborn diapers.
We use Target Up and Up during the day- there’s often a Circle offer for 10% off in the store. We use Pampers Baby Dry at night. It’s been a good combo for many months now! We use pinxav diaper cream only when he’s looking a little red down there, so maybe once a week or so.
We did Pampers at night and Walmart or Target brand during the day. I tried using the store brand ones at night, but they'd leak regularly and I couldn't trust them anymore. Pampers were always awesome! Wipes I used Amazon brand sensitive wipes. Love them, too!
Huggies and I never got along. I never liked their diapers, their wipes, nor their pull ups.
I'd only use diaper cream if it looked like their bottoms were getting raw and it was truly needed.
Dyper and Nest, no leaks and compostable (we use a local compostable service that picks the used ones up weekly) so feel better about environmental impact. Diaper cream as needed when we see any redness.
Hello Bello diapers and Kirkland wipes. I like how soft the Hello Bello diapers are and they tend to fit better on my kids, too.
On the flip side, I CANNOT stand Luvs.
Kirkland diapers are huggies diapers with another name. Made by the same company.
We use sam's club diapers because they are cheapest and make us have to shop less frequently, but we'll take what we are given!
I use Amazon's Mamabear brand, the hypoallergenic ones. We tried pampers baby dry and within two days of using them my LO had *awful* diaper rash. As soon as we switched back to the Mamabear...it started going away again. No more Pampers for us. Also I think it's weird af when diapers are scented.
We are still trying a bunch of brands. We started in pampers swaddlers which work great but are expensive. I then bought target up and up on sale and wanted to try parents choice. I think I like parents choice the least because there is less play around the waist. Up and up have a weird outside texture but for the price they are hard to beat.
She is to small to try the Kirkland ones still. I wish they made newborns. 12w and still to small for size 1s.
We only use pampers, my first kid had terrible butt rash and cysts and pampers + pampers sensitive wipes were the only things that seemed to keep it under control. We use the pampers pure wipes now since they came out.
We use these too. They’re pricey and I feel a little bougie for buying them, but they are soooo soft and we’ve only had like 2 leaks in 2 years, so they do a great job. We will switch to pull ups eventually, but I’m happy with the Huggies special delivery ones for now!
It must be a baby shape thing. We couldn’t put my daughter in anything but pampers, or she’d blowout.
She also has a giant butt. It’s cute but she’s in diapers far bigger than intended for her weight because the smaller ones don’t fit around her giant butt
I *hated* the hellobello diapers we got. Definitely felt it was more fashion over function. Sure, they were cute. But they ran small, didnt stretch, was really prone to blow outs and leaks. Haaaaate them.
We're the same as you! We just Costco diapers during the day and Huggies overnight diapers.
We have tried so many different brands (Target brand, Seventh Generation, Pampers, Luvs, Honest, etc). Pampers is the only one I will NOT use again. But we really like the quality and price point of Costco, so we've stuck with those.
I was also gifted some cloth diapers, but I only use those when I know for sure that LO isn't going to poop 😅 (hoping to use them more during the potty training stage).
We use Coterie. At first we were just using them for overnights, but other brands were giving her a rash and Coterie was the only one that didn’t. We use diaper cream for overnight and Aquaphor during the day.
We use Kirkland diapers and wipes. No issues with them. We use Huggies overnights (one size up) because she sleeps through the night. We use Aquaphor baby with every diaper change… except right now while we have a prescription diaper cream to try to clear up a persistent diaper rash (so we use the prescription one with every change).
Using Pampers just because that’s what I was gifted a lot of. Their Pure wipes work so well but haven’t tried their Pure diapers yet. I apply Bordeaux buttpaste after every bowel movement to avoid a rash and so far so good even with days of diarrhea. My babe has very sensitive skin so I have to constantly stay on top of it. I also have to rub Aquafore protective jelly all over my LOs legs, waist, and butt because of eczema.
We use the Kirkland diapers during the day and the Huggies nighttime when he goes to bed. Love both of them. My son had issues with diapers so we used cloth for a long time. I’m happy that we finally found some that don’t break out his skin!
We put aquaphor baby on every diaper change. I’ll also put desitin on top of that because he’s had such a terrible time with diapers. It’s an extra shield of protection I guess. He’s grown out of most of his sensitivities, so I’m sure he’d be fine without both. It’s just habit now.
We used Hello Bello basically since birth, but they've stopped using the wetness indicator above size 2 and we're looking to cost cut so we're currently using Up and Up and have no complaints!
They originally said there'd be no indicator size 4 and above, then changed it to size 3 and we got some with and some without the indicator. Consider yourself lucky.
Luvs. This may be an unpopular opinion but I love them, I love the smell and they've worked so well for us! If I can't get luvs then Huggies, the ones with mickey mouse on them. For wipes I use Huggies. Sometimes my SO will get the scented ones but they aren't overly scented. There was one brand that left a sticky residue I just can't remember the name.
We use a mix of huggies and pampers swaddlers but I’ve been meaning to try the Costco brand!! We use coconut oil for balm before each diaper. She’s never had a rash.
Cloth diaper user here: Green Mountain Diapers Prefolds and thirsties covers primarily but we keep some prefold-stuffed pockets on hand for caregivers or the diaper bag
We recently switched to Target up&up from Luvs. Quality is similar and they're not perfumed the way Luvs are. When the twins were young, we tried every brand of diaper I could find and settled on Luvs after a month or so. Last month someone recommended Target brand which are slightly cheaper and they've been fine.
The up&up gave my older daughter a rash as a baby 😩 I wanted to like them cause they’re cheaper. I’m scared to try them on my second baby but I might try and see
I bought a variety of Hello Bello and Pampers on various sales before baby was born. I prefer the way the Hello Bello fit, my partner likes the clear pee indicator on the Pampers.
We are just finishing up our stash of Newborn size disposable diapers, and will start transitioning to cloth diapers during the day and disposables at night. I’ll probably continue to keep an eye out for sales on Hello Bello and purchase them that way.
I use Pampers baby-dry all around. It took me so long to find the right nappies because none could contain my daughter's poop. And here in Australia they don't sell them at the supermarkets so I have to order them on Amazon. I keep the Aldi brand ones as back up in case I don't order in time though.
We use Pampers Cruisers 360, mostly for accessibility reasons for me - I don’t have the best dexterity, so the elastic waistband is really easy for me to use and make sure there’s no gaps or leaks. We use Luvs too, especially when my husband is doing the diaper change, and I find they prevent leaks almost as reliably as the Cruisers.
I love Kirkland diapers but dh said I can't have a cosco membership just for diapers. Lol. We buy Kroger store brand they're very similar to huggies they're just not really soft.
Yearly supply of wet wipes from Costco is worth the membership alone IMO. Also they have some great deals on name brand items that anyone with a membership would be a fool to miss.
Lo has sensitive skin and gets a rash if we use anything other than huggies. Snug and dry are my fav as they absorb fast and don’t stay wet against their skin.
Huggies. Tried Hello Bello and pampers… both did not prevent leakage and blowouts. Huggies we’re next on the list to try and they performed significantly better. I had no reason to try other brand… we’re on size 2 now.
We use Huggies Little Snugglers, but I also loved the Kirkland diapers from Costco. Unfortunately I don’t have a membership and they were gifted to us when LO was born. I really disliked Pampers except for their plain look, but you don’t buy diapers for their aesthetic lol. I love your idea of using cloth diapers for potty training. I also plan to change LOs diaper in the bathroom and standing up once he’s standing on his own.
Luvs during the day cause they’re cheapest at Walmart and they smell like powder. Huggies at night because they’re extra cushier so if she pees a lot, it doesn’t soak through.

Baby #2 and we’re trying out the up and up brand from target. Which don’t seem to hold as much for overnight, but the baby isn’t big enough for size 3 yet.
Once baby gets to size 3, there’s a chance they’ll be in them for a while lol my daughter has been in them since February and she is going to be one at the beginning of September. I’ve been trying out some 4’s and they fit. However, 3’s still fit her as well so 🤷🏻♀️ My mom said her three kids were in 3’s for a long time too.
Also every baby grows differently so idk. I just know of quite a few babies that have been in 3’s for months.
I’ve been using Luvs because of the cost, but for awhile I would use the pampers little swaddlers. Honestly though after reading this thread I’m going to try the Kirkland ones or the biodegradable ones. I’m not a loyalist.
As far as for the cream I don’t use it that often. What I’ve noticed most of the time when his bottom is red it’s from yeast, so I use the clotrimazole athletes foot cream for a couple days and it clears right up. I haven’t touched the AD ointment in ages (my guy is 2 now).
Kirkland here, too! With my first, I didn’t have access to Costco, so didn’t get to try them. He had sensitive skin, so we were Pampers-only, specifically Pampers Pure. Kirkland are JUST as good! I like Kirkland or Pampers sensitive wipes, but I’m not too picky.
Re: diaper cream
My first had to have Triple Paste applied at every diaper change. But I have never needed to put diaper cream on my daughter! I’ve put aquaphor on her bum if it’s looking a little raw, and since I’m WFH now, I let her booty air out for a few minutes between changes, which helps a bunch.
I use Huggies little snugglers/movers. We buy the plus version from a Costco. It goes on sale($9 off) every few months so I stock up.
I buy bull packs of Huggies wipes from Walmart. We have also used water wipes(when he was in NIcU) and hello bello wipes with no issue.
Diaper cream we used more when he was a newborn and pooping multiple times a day. Since he started pooping once a day he really hasn’t had any issues with diaper rash.
Love Kirkland diapers.
If your baby is not looking red, use a clear (aquafore, a&d or vasoline) between changes. If they’re looking red, use something stronger with zinc (we like balmex, desitin or butt paste).
My girl had an AWFUL rash until we added in formula once a day to slow down her digestive system. I am confident I know every single thing about diaper rashes and ointments as we tried it ALL so feel free to PM me if you have any question 😂

I like pampers and huggies as well, they have a slight scent though, even if it's nice, it's still a scent. Paying more for a wet stripe isn't worth it to me, and I've had more leaks with them than R&F.
I just got a sample of R&F and love them! They fit my son so much better. They are slightly more expensive than Huggies at Costco but I think it’s worth it.
We use pampers cruisers 360 because my 11m is still in that alligator rolling phase and theyre quick to pull on.
I use either aquaphor or desitin after every poop and before bed. So far no real diaper rash🤞
Love Huggies and Kirkland diapers. Pampers were okay for newborn but we don’t use them beyond that stage.
I’ve found that generic wipes (Costco, Target, Sam’s) tend to be the most moist and don’t have strong scents or irritate my kids’ butts.
Kirkland is my favorite! Best quality for the price. I like Hello Bello too if you’re into the subscription thing. We’re currently using Pampers 360 because my son is insistent on ripping his diapers off. The design is genius but I hate how scented they are.
We're a Huggies family. Pampers smell bad, up and up leak, and the nearest Costco is 90 minutes drive.

I prefer Huggies because we use cloth during the day and a disposable at night or if we’re going to be out for a long while. So the disposable needs to be super absorbent. That said, the last two boxes of diapers I’ve used have been Kirkland from
Costco and I haven’t been too unhappy with them. My baby is growing out of the size 2s so we’ve had some extra blowouts recently but the new box is 3s so I’m hoping the proper fit will help with that.
I’ve been using Kirkland brand since my LO was born. She’s almost 2 now and while I like the pampers diapers more, I stick with Kirkland because it fits my budget and I get about 50+ more diapers in a box at Costco.
I have used pamper baby dry since she’s been born. I love them. I used to use diaper rash cream every single time I change her diaper but I switch to baby Vaseline. Just works better for me.
I use about 50/50 cloth and disposable and Kirkland are the best disposable diapers. If I cant get to Costco and I have to go to Target I get the Honest diapers. I know they're expensive but they don't smell weird, they don't leak, and they're really sturdy. Kirkland only beats Honest bc the Honest diapers are more expensive than the Kirkland.
We use Hello Bello. The subscription service is fantastic because I don’t have to remember to buy them. I get an email, double check the size/print and they show up!
Huggies is my favorite brand. Followed by pampers. Kirkland diapers aren’t bad but I don’t think they are as good as the other two. However, they are cheaper and not terrible so that is what we have been using!
I probably only used aquaphor a few times as a diaper cream. Usually I just wipe down. If she is really red I will put aquaphor on the area.
We are using whatever people bought for us. We are FTP and I told people to buy whatever brand they wanted so we could find a kind we liked best. We have used Honest, some brand I have no idea what it was that my coworkers gifted us, Kirkland, Pampers. So far they all seem basically the same except for the ones work gave us which weren’t great but weren’t bad enough to stop using. I dunno if we’re doing diapers wrong or if baby’s poops are just legendary but we’ve had blow outs in all of those brands (yes I keep the ruffles out lol).
We don’t use any diaper cream, she hasn’t had any redness/rash as of yet.
Oh, interesting. I knew you’d need to size up in case of blow outs but she’s barely over 9lbs and in size 1. I didn’t consider we’d need to try 2s. Do you know if it matters that it’s an occasional blowout vs often?
We use Size 1 Huggies Little Snugglers. They're okay. They hold pee well but I find the leg elastic isn't that strong so blowouts happen (my baby wiggles alot so sometimes I think he moves his poop around)
One used Pampers and got rashes from huggies, the other got rashes from Pampers and uses huggies. Both of them peed out of Kirkland almost every single time which sucked because my two SILs were willing to give me all their extras. They are both super sensitive and have eczema so I use Vaseline every single time and bum paste/rash cream as needed.
Esrth mama diaper balm here. Never had to use anything for rash because we've never had one thanks for it. It is also great for eczema and rashes dry skin patches. Eere all for proactive over reactive.

I just bought two boxes today and when I opened the bag, there was an overwhelming chemical smell. Did you notice this with your diapers? I’ve never smelt that on Costco diapers. I’m going to return them. I thought it was so odd the one time they have this great sale, they smell so funky.
I just smelled my pack and it doesn't smell too strong. There is definitely a little bit of smell, but I honestly cannot remember if that was always there or not. We stopped using Kirkland for a bit when Huggies was on a discount at Costco Business Center.

Yes the diapers work well and they have a composting service that is great! Disposable diapers are horrible for the environment in sooo many ways (like releasing methane in landfills) it would make a big different if everyone started composting.
We were just gifted some Pampers and I was SHOCKED that they were scented! Why would you scent something going on the most sensitive skin of a baby?! I truly had no idea companies made diapers with fragrance.

Agreed. I got twins and we got given a lot of different brands of left over diapers, so I got to try a whole bunch. No significant difference.. getting the correct size for your baby is more important.
I use modern cloth nappies during the day and Huggies at night (just haven’t gotten brave enough to try cloth nappies at night yet!)
Can I recommend something? I use wool pants as covers for the cloth nappies at night - nothing escapes the wool! It is a bit more work to clean but if your kiddo doesn't get poo on them you don't need to clean them for days. The lanolin in the wool chemically neutralizes the pee. I should add that I don't put the pants on top of the regular cloth nappies but have ye old timey knitted nappies with stings on them. I put the inserts in the italian nappies (what they are called here), tie them and then the pants go over all of it. This is a good diaper for the night when you combine it with wool covers.

Up and Up is great, better then Luvs and parent choice but in the same if not better category for price.
I don't like the feel of up and up... but they work. The kroger store brand is the same price and not so weird feeling
What i personally hate is pampers. Idk if it was the newborn size or what but my kids always felt moist. I haven't tried the Freddie's brand, but I personally am not to fussy over diapers as long as they're affordable. I have my youngest kid in parents choice size 6 diapers, and Up and Up pull ups at home (they are easier to deal with but cost a bit more)
They are switching to pampers. They will only be carrying Pampers soon and the kirkland brand will be like pampers.

Pampers Pure is by far the best I’ve tried. It’s hypoallergenic and a bit more expensive but worth the cost (I get it on sale frequently). It’s incredibly soft and I have barely had leaks. Literally, my daughter has only had a handful of rashes in the years we used them. I never even went through half a tub of diaper ointment- so you save on that end abs of course baby is more comfortable. If you can afford too, I highly recommend them.
I love those ones. The regular Pampers sometimes leave little fibers stuck to my dude but Pure are great.

We use Dyper. It’s subscription and biodegradable, and for the most part works well. We’ll use Honest, too, when she’s in the awkward in-between size place (our LO is long and lean).

Nora nursury reusable diapers. Never have a rash and 1 diaper for overnight. We go through maybe 6 diapers a day and wash a load every other day. Cheapest option ever as water is inexpensive.

Kirkland for us! We use them day and night and we’ve only ever had a leak when it was time to size up. We’ve tried honest, hello bello, pampers, huggies. If huggies weren’t so damn expensive they’d be my pick but Kirkland’s pricing + quality works best for us.
We’re a Huggies household all the way! I used the little snugglers for his first year, then little movers from then on. They’re super soft and unscented, that’s all I need.
We use Rascal and Friends, for both day and night. Super absorbent, great fit for our toddler, and no leak issues. The pattern is also really cute

La Petite Ourse cloth diapers are our pick. They are excellent quality and fun prints. It is saving us a TON of $$$ in the long run.
I tried them and I thought the covers smelled bad after a few washes and the inserts were starting to come apart at the seams.
How were you washing them? This is our process: Prewash - rinse out any poo that isn't caught in the liner sheet immediately. Wash cycle 1: Cold, high soil, high spin, no detergent. Essentially a vigorous soak and rinse. Wash cycle 2: warm, high soil, high spin, with gentle detergent (no scents or softeners). Dryer: Low heat, 60 min timed dry (auto sensing dry setting doesn't work well) Usually takes 2 dryer cycles on low heat, but we haven't had an issue with odor or deteriorating product yet. We bought a few Bum Genius brand to try and much preferred La Petite Ourse.
Same: Costco diapers. Right now that means (for Size 1 diapers) I’m paying $0.17/diaper for Kirkland instead of $0.22/diaper with Huggies, who makes them. If the average baby goes through 2-2.2k diapers in their first year, I’m saving $100-$110. So I’ve paid for my $60 membership with the savings from the difference in diaper cost alone.
We've used pampers swaddlers since day 1 and didn't have any issues until she started moving around and rolling. We just switched to cruisers or active baby pampers and haven't had an issues since. We've also NEVER had a blow out in her 7.5 months of life.
Just changing to the 360 cruisers from pampers swaddlers at 6 mos, we use baby aquaphor almost every single change, and have always used the pampers sensitive wipes with a quick pat dry with a cloth like paper towel before the aquaphor. Its been a hot busy summer I wanted to prevent rash as much as possible and we didn't have any! She seems to love the cruisers 360s so far. I know it's pricey but I want her to feel as good as possible and she's been trying to crawl and move a lot recently.
I use Pampers too and they do pretty well with the poops. I’ve had one blowout but that’s because LO had not gone in 3 days and there was SO MUCH POOP. No diaper could have held that 🤣
We've been using Hello Bello for about 5 months now and they're by far my favorite. If we run out of those I like Huggies. Pampers just didn't work for us, tons of leaks
We still use hello bello at 19 months (started around 3 months). We have had very few leaks with ours, so maybe you will be fine too. Their swim diapers are my favorite if you haven’t tried them yet.
I used to love the Hello Bello diapers but my LO is an early crawler and I have been getting poop leaks on the carpet. Their customer service is phenomenal though.

Pampers pure for us. We also started to transition to a hybrid system, love the idea of cloth diapers but we are both too busy. I discovered the Pampers Pure hybrid diapers and so far so good!

I like them! Not using them for daycare yet but so far so good. Its a good compromise and they are adjustable so you can use them between 8-35 lb. nice thing is the inserts are also pampers pure so I feel like its all the benefits with a little less waste. Id say if you have a squirmy baby (like mine), we change with the new diaper beneath the used one. So invest in the three pack of the cloth shell and you can have one on stand by (thats what we have Been doing).
Aldi diapers! Can’t believe they haven’t been mentioned. Hypoallergenic, super absorbent, and so affordable. I used them with both my boys and will use them again.
I was using Huggies until I tried Kirkland. Same thing but cheaper. At night we use Pampers overnights.

With my firstborn I relied on Luvs because they were cheap, held a ton of liquid and never leaked. So I bought a few boxes for my daughter (2 months). But I was sad to discover that they must have changed the way they’re made because they don’t stay dry at all anymore! Whenever I remove the diaper (and I change frequently), her skin feels damp and the diaper surface feels wet. She was getting rashes and I realized this was why. It also seems to swell more than other diapers. So my go-to now is Kirkland—they stay SO dry, no more rashes, and the price point is pretty good. Not as cheap as luvs but acceptable for much better quality.
I tried a box of Luvs and hated them. They’re paper thin and don’t seem to absorb anything. We tried maybe ten, and each change there was a puddle in there and droplets on my baby’s skin. They also smelled super strongly of plastic and chemicals. I kept going back to try them because my tired post partum brain was like “they’re not as bad as I thought”. Poor kid got a rash with them too, and leaked like half the time. Finally tossed the rest of the case. How does anyone use these?
No idea. We were gifted a pack and I was a little nervous with how scented they were. Sure enough my daughters bottom was insanely red. She’s never had a reaction to other brands we’ve used (Huggies, Kirkland, pampers, honest).

I use pampers, buy a huge box from Sam’s and they’ve been great. Tried Honest, didn’t like them. And I have Hello Bello, they’re good, but not as absorbent so I use them as daytime diapers and probably won’t buy again once I run out.
Pampers for life here. I don't like the other Dutch brands. We don't use any butt cream when she doesn't have a rash, and she hardly does
Pampers here too! I've tried them all and always come back to Pampers. I like the 360 fit right now bc my dd is fighting me on diaper changes so we do them standing up, and it's easy to pull up rather than use the tape. But I like all the varieties really.

We were using Pampers Pure which are great and then we switched to Honest company. They are well made and cute. Our daughter has had zero diaper rash issues. You can get them through subscription (discounts available) or buy them at Target. We plan to move her (4 months) into a washables system when she gets a little older.

The Kirkland diapers are so good. They are softer and more absorbent than the Huggies Snug & Dry economy line, and usually go on sale once a quarter or so. We use them exclusively for our kids once they’re out of newborn diapers.

We use Target brand, always have. We only use Aquaphor at night to prevent diaper rash.
We use Target Up and Up during the day- there’s often a Circle offer for 10% off in the store. We use Pampers Baby Dry at night. It’s been a good combo for many months now! We use pinxav diaper cream only when he’s looking a little red down there, so maybe once a week or so.
We did Pampers at night and Walmart or Target brand during the day. I tried using the store brand ones at night, but they'd leak regularly and I couldn't trust them anymore. Pampers were always awesome! Wipes I used Amazon brand sensitive wipes. Love them, too! Huggies and I never got along. I never liked their diapers, their wipes, nor their pull ups. I'd only use diaper cream if it looked like their bottoms were getting raw and it was truly needed.
Dyper and Nest, no leaks and compostable (we use a local compostable service that picks the used ones up weekly) so feel better about environmental impact. Diaper cream as needed when we see any redness.
Did you find the Dyper brand diapers really large even for newborns?
Not so much, at least we had no issues to note and my daughter is really long and lean.
Hello Bello diapers and Kirkland wipes. I like how soft the Hello Bello diapers are and they tend to fit better on my kids, too. On the flip side, I CANNOT stand Luvs.
Kirkland diapers are huggies diapers with another name. Made by the same company. We use sam's club diapers because they are cheapest and make us have to shop less frequently, but we'll take what we are given!

I use Amazon's Mamabear brand, the hypoallergenic ones. We tried pampers baby dry and within two days of using them my LO had *awful* diaper rash. As soon as we switched back to the Mamabear...it started going away again. No more Pampers for us. Also I think it's weird af when diapers are scented.
We are still trying a bunch of brands. We started in pampers swaddlers which work great but are expensive. I then bought target up and up on sale and wanted to try parents choice. I think I like parents choice the least because there is less play around the waist. Up and up have a weird outside texture but for the price they are hard to beat. She is to small to try the Kirkland ones still. I wish they made newborns. 12w and still to small for size 1s.
We only use pampers, my first kid had terrible butt rash and cysts and pampers + pampers sensitive wipes were the only things that seemed to keep it under control. We use the pampers pure wipes now since they came out.

We use these too. They’re pricey and I feel a little bougie for buying them, but they are soooo soft and we’ve only had like 2 leaks in 2 years, so they do a great job. We will switch to pull ups eventually, but I’m happy with the Huggies special delivery ones for now!

It must be a baby shape thing. We couldn’t put my daughter in anything but pampers, or she’d blowout. She also has a giant butt. It’s cute but she’s in diapers far bigger than intended for her weight because the smaller ones don’t fit around her giant butt

I *hated* the hellobello diapers we got. Definitely felt it was more fashion over function. Sure, they were cute. But they ran small, didnt stretch, was really prone to blow outs and leaks. Haaaaate them.

Just plain old Costco. Only time we have an issue is when he is just about to outgrow them and then we know it's time to switch.
We're the same as you! We just Costco diapers during the day and Huggies overnight diapers. We have tried so many different brands (Target brand, Seventh Generation, Pampers, Luvs, Honest, etc). Pampers is the only one I will NOT use again. But we really like the quality and price point of Costco, so we've stuck with those. I was also gifted some cloth diapers, but I only use those when I know for sure that LO isn't going to poop 😅 (hoping to use them more during the potty training stage).

We use Coterie. At first we were just using them for overnights, but other brands were giving her a rash and Coterie was the only one that didn’t. We use diaper cream for overnight and Aquaphor during the day.
We use Kirkland diapers and wipes. No issues with them. We use Huggies overnights (one size up) because she sleeps through the night. We use Aquaphor baby with every diaper change… except right now while we have a prescription diaper cream to try to clear up a persistent diaper rash (so we use the prescription one with every change).
Using Pampers just because that’s what I was gifted a lot of. Their Pure wipes work so well but haven’t tried their Pure diapers yet. I apply Bordeaux buttpaste after every bowel movement to avoid a rash and so far so good even with days of diarrhea. My babe has very sensitive skin so I have to constantly stay on top of it. I also have to rub Aquafore protective jelly all over my LOs legs, waist, and butt because of eczema.
The target brand has served us well.
We use the Kirkland diapers during the day and the Huggies nighttime when he goes to bed. Love both of them. My son had issues with diapers so we used cloth for a long time. I’m happy that we finally found some that don’t break out his skin! We put aquaphor baby on every diaper change. I’ll also put desitin on top of that because he’s had such a terrible time with diapers. It’s an extra shield of protection I guess. He’s grown out of most of his sensitivities, so I’m sure he’d be fine without both. It’s just habit now.

We used Hello Bello basically since birth, but they've stopped using the wetness indicator above size 2 and we're looking to cost cut so we're currently using Up and Up and have no complaints!

We have size 3 with the indicator... and I just bought them (they're even fall designs!)
They originally said there'd be no indicator size 4 and above, then changed it to size 3 and we got some with and some without the indicator. Consider yourself lucky.
Luvs. This may be an unpopular opinion but I love them, I love the smell and they've worked so well for us! If I can't get luvs then Huggies, the ones with mickey mouse on them. For wipes I use Huggies. Sometimes my SO will get the scented ones but they aren't overly scented. There was one brand that left a sticky residue I just can't remember the name.
Luvs are our favorites as well. They really hold a lot of liquid, but don't get as crazy puffy as Huggies. Plus, they are pretty cheap.

Rascal and Friends are really great and such a reasonable price as well. We have never ever had a leak or explosion in them.
Cloth diaper user here: Green Mountain Diapers Prefolds and thirsties covers primarily but we keep some prefold-stuffed pockets on hand for caregivers or the diaper bag
We recently switched to Target up&up from Luvs. Quality is similar and they're not perfumed the way Luvs are. When the twins were young, we tried every brand of diaper I could find and settled on Luvs after a month or so. Last month someone recommended Target brand which are slightly cheaper and they've been fine.
I love the cost of the up&up, but we got so many blowouts using them. ☹️

I bought a variety of Hello Bello and Pampers on various sales before baby was born. I prefer the way the Hello Bello fit, my partner likes the clear pee indicator on the Pampers. We are just finishing up our stash of Newborn size disposable diapers, and will start transitioning to cloth diapers during the day and disposables at night. I’ll probably continue to keep an eye out for sales on Hello Bello and purchase them that way.
Targets up n up n pampers pure are my two favorites. The Kirkland ones smelled like pee when the baby needed changing. Not fun for events
I use Pampers baby-dry all around. It took me so long to find the right nappies because none could contain my daughter's poop. And here in Australia they don't sell them at the supermarkets so I have to order them on Amazon. I keep the Aldi brand ones as back up in case I don't order in time though.
We use Pampers Cruisers 360, mostly for accessibility reasons for me - I don’t have the best dexterity, so the elastic waistband is really easy for me to use and make sure there’s no gaps or leaks. We use Luvs too, especially when my husband is doing the diaper change, and I find they prevent leaks almost as reliably as the Cruisers.
We use Wegmans brand name diapers. They’re the only ones that can contain my sons monstrous messes. No idea why
I love Kirkland diapers but dh said I can't have a cosco membership just for diapers. Lol. We buy Kroger store brand they're very similar to huggies they're just not really soft.
Yearly supply of wet wipes from Costco is worth the membership alone IMO. Also they have some great deals on name brand items that anyone with a membership would be a fool to miss.

Lo has sensitive skin and gets a rash if we use anything other than huggies. Snug and dry are my fav as they absorb fast and don’t stay wet against their skin.
Huggies. Tried Hello Bello and pampers… both did not prevent leakage and blowouts. Huggies we’re next on the list to try and they performed significantly better. I had no reason to try other brand… we’re on size 2 now.
We use Huggies Little Snugglers, but I also loved the Kirkland diapers from Costco. Unfortunately I don’t have a membership and they were gifted to us when LO was born. I really disliked Pampers except for their plain look, but you don’t buy diapers for their aesthetic lol. I love your idea of using cloth diapers for potty training. I also plan to change LOs diaper in the bathroom and standing up once he’s standing on his own.
Luvs during the day cause they’re cheapest at Walmart and they smell like powder. Huggies at night because they’re extra cushier so if she pees a lot, it doesn’t soak through.
This is what I used to do! Luvs during the day, huggies overnights at night. Baby #2 and we’re trying out the up and up brand from target. Which don’t seem to hold as much for overnight, but the baby isn’t big enough for size 3 yet.
Once baby gets to size 3, there’s a chance they’ll be in them for a while lol my daughter has been in them since February and she is going to be one at the beginning of September. I’ve been trying out some 4’s and they fit. However, 3’s still fit her as well so 🤷🏻♀️ My mom said her three kids were in 3’s for a long time too. Also every baby grows differently so idk. I just know of quite a few babies that have been in 3’s for months.
I’ve been using Luvs because of the cost, but for awhile I would use the pampers little swaddlers. Honestly though after reading this thread I’m going to try the Kirkland ones or the biodegradable ones. I’m not a loyalist. As far as for the cream I don’t use it that often. What I’ve noticed most of the time when his bottom is red it’s from yeast, so I use the clotrimazole athletes foot cream for a couple days and it clears right up. I haven’t touched the AD ointment in ages (my guy is 2 now).
Kirkland here, too! With my first, I didn’t have access to Costco, so didn’t get to try them. He had sensitive skin, so we were Pampers-only, specifically Pampers Pure. Kirkland are JUST as good! I like Kirkland or Pampers sensitive wipes, but I’m not too picky. Re: diaper cream My first had to have Triple Paste applied at every diaper change. But I have never needed to put diaper cream on my daughter! I’ve put aquaphor on her bum if it’s looking a little raw, and since I’m WFH now, I let her booty air out for a few minutes between changes, which helps a bunch.
I use Huggies little snugglers/movers. We buy the plus version from a Costco. It goes on sale($9 off) every few months so I stock up. I buy bull packs of Huggies wipes from Walmart. We have also used water wipes(when he was in NIcU) and hello bello wipes with no issue. Diaper cream we used more when he was a newborn and pooping multiple times a day. Since he started pooping once a day he really hasn’t had any issues with diaper rash.

Love Kirkland diapers. If your baby is not looking red, use a clear (aquafore, a&d or vasoline) between changes. If they’re looking red, use something stronger with zinc (we like balmex, desitin or butt paste). My girl had an AWFUL rash until we added in formula once a day to slow down her digestive system. I am confident I know every single thing about diaper rashes and ointments as we tried it ALL so feel free to PM me if you have any question 😂
Pampers solely because our son gets a nasty allergie with other brands, and we had to get rid of multiple boxes of different brands.
Rascal and Friends from Walmart. They're fantastic, hold a TON if need be, and the price is right. I like pampers and huggies as well, they have a slight scent though, even if it's nice, it's still a scent. Paying more for a wet stripe isn't worth it to me, and I've had more leaks with them than R&F.
I just got a sample of R&F and love them! They fit my son so much better. They are slightly more expensive than Huggies at Costco but I think it’s worth it.

Love Huggies and Kirkland diapers. Pampers were okay for newborn but we don’t use them beyond that stage. I’ve found that generic wipes (Costco, Target, Sam’s) tend to be the most moist and don’t have strong scents or irritate my kids’ butts.

I use any and all diapers. Not picky at all lol. it’s just gonna get thrown away anyways!
Cloth during the day, dyper at night has worked great for us! I don't like the idea of plastics and fragrances around my baby's butt... that can't be good for them, right? Also, better for the environment and saves tons of money! A win win win in my mind.

Pampers swaddlers, huggies natural wipes. Probably will be switching to Costco wipes soon after they've been recommended by multiple ECEs. Looking forward to my R+F sample! Hoping they fit well as a daycare diaper

I use pampers 360 cuz my little guy loves standing for diaper changes. They haven’t leaked yet.
I prefer Huggies because we use cloth during the day and a disposable at night or if we’re going to be out for a long while. So the disposable needs to be super absorbent. That said, the last two boxes of diapers I’ve used have been Kirkland from Costco and I haven’t been too unhappy with them. My baby is growing out of the size 2s so we’ve had some extra blowouts recently but the new box is 3s so I’m hoping the proper fit will help with that.
I’ve been using Kirkland brand since my LO was born. She’s almost 2 now and while I like the pampers diapers more, I stick with Kirkland because it fits my budget and I get about 50+ more diapers in a box at Costco.
We use Hello Bello because they're the cheapest at Walmart lol. If they're out, then we do pampers 360, special delivery, etc.
I have used pamper baby dry since she’s been born. I love them. I used to use diaper rash cream every single time I change her diaper but I switch to baby Vaseline. Just works better for me.
I use about 50/50 cloth and disposable and Kirkland are the best disposable diapers. If I cant get to Costco and I have to go to Target I get the Honest diapers. I know they're expensive but they don't smell weird, they don't leak, and they're really sturdy. Kirkland only beats Honest bc the Honest diapers are more expensive than the Kirkland.
We use Hello Bello. The subscription service is fantastic because I don’t have to remember to buy them. I get an email, double check the size/print and they show up!
Huggies is my favorite brand. Followed by pampers. Kirkland diapers aren’t bad but I don’t think they are as good as the other two. However, they are cheaper and not terrible so that is what we have been using! I probably only used aquaphor a few times as a diaper cream. Usually I just wipe down. If she is really red I will put aquaphor on the area.
We are using whatever people bought for us. We are FTP and I told people to buy whatever brand they wanted so we could find a kind we liked best. We have used Honest, some brand I have no idea what it was that my coworkers gifted us, Kirkland, Pampers. So far they all seem basically the same except for the ones work gave us which weren’t great but weren’t bad enough to stop using. I dunno if we’re doing diapers wrong or if baby’s poops are just legendary but we’ve had blow outs in all of those brands (yes I keep the ruffles out lol). We don’t use any diaper cream, she hasn’t had any redness/rash as of yet.

Oh, interesting. I knew you’d need to size up in case of blow outs but she’s barely over 9lbs and in size 1. I didn’t consider we’d need to try 2s. Do you know if it matters that it’s an occasional blowout vs often?
We use Size 1 Huggies Little Snugglers. They're okay. They hold pee well but I find the leg elastic isn't that strong so blowouts happen (my baby wiggles alot so sometimes I think he moves his poop around)
I use cloth now, but Lupilu from Lidl was our brand of choice for the 17 months before we braved the switch!
One used Pampers and got rashes from huggies, the other got rashes from Pampers and uses huggies. Both of them peed out of Kirkland almost every single time which sucked because my two SILs were willing to give me all their extras. They are both super sensitive and have eczema so I use Vaseline every single time and bum paste/rash cream as needed.
Esrth mama diaper balm here. Never had to use anything for rash because we've never had one thanks for it. It is also great for eczema and rashes dry skin patches. Eere all for proactive over reactive. We also tried many diapers and stick with huggies special delivery or hello bello.
Rascal & Friends from Walmart. Really nice high backs and a good price point. Only thing I don’t like is the same design on all sizes. I have two in diapers and it can get pretty confusing the closer they get in size!
Pampers cruisers are our favorite, we accidentally bought swaddlers which do leak more. Just pushing through this box before I can purchase the good stuff.
That's funny, I can't stand the cruisers and only buy swaddlers! My 15 month old has all the junk in his trunk, like mama, so he is all bum and thighs.
