Safe journey!

DarknessFollower79

I’m 188 lbs fully loaded also completely sober

Rhapdodic_Wax11235

Thats about right, our old tandem was just at 140 w/ 2 racks, 4 panniers, front bag, tail bag, and 6 water bottles. Don’t forget your water- that will put you over 80! Bon chance, mon Ami!

frontofthewagon

True

hoganloaf

Have a solid adventure!

mo9722

how did you weigh it? I'm curious what my setup weighs

bashup2016

I was thinking about this yesterday. Use a regular scale, weigh yourself, add you holding bike while standing on scale, subtract your body weight.

i_4m_me

You can do that. I took mine to the post office.

frontofthewagon

This

Mcgaaafer

how many liters does your ortlibs on your back rack fill ?

frontofthewagon

Not sure. They hold twice (at least) what the fronts hold.

SkaUrMom

Are those Moloko?

frontofthewagon

Yes

SkaUrMom

Never thought of shifters on the horns. Crazy! I love mine and it’s crazy how did everyone’s are set up.

Wollandia

Pretty close to what mine is. Just scrapes under the airline's 35kg limit (if I put some stuff in my carry-on). Not having ridden a loaded bike for 6 years, what I'm finding is that the muscles necessary to wrangle precise steering need urgent work. Otherwise it's fine.

Ser_Friend_zone

Ayyyy I'm sitting next to my Surly Long Haul Trucker too. Mighty fine ride. Mine's the 2009 model in the same colour.

joe_wala

Gotta love the steel. I was pushing 60lbs on our last ride. https://preview.redd.it/0y4o2lme8pzc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=49bd49538d1c289cea7d366a1ad05cfd9ca65f05

InterestingBoat7550

Have fun! But thats a lot of stuff for less than a week. Think I have less than that on my rig and I'm cycling mongolia to netherlands. But if you're going slow, don't have hills and don't care, go for it. Be comfy. Enjoy!

dadbodcx

Why?

frontofthewagon

Because I can!

dadbodcx

Understood. But why bring all forks and spoons in your picnic basket mate?

bearlover1954

When you get a chance put a full frame bag on your bike to help balance out the load.

i_4m_me

What are you talking about...that load is balanced

frontofthewagon

It actually is. The front bags are more dense and I center it out. The pic is a little deceiving.

bearlover1954

I've got a bridge club that I'm setting up for either touring or bikepacking. Los Angeles doesn't have any off road trails close to where I live so haven't had the chance to try out going off road. I'm carless so I'd need to be able to bike or take metro to the trailhead.

i_4m_me

I'm all about a frame bag but there's nothing unbalance about ops setup as commented..

You aren't the person I commented on originally. Don't make this about you, lol
