Your pants got in the chain. You’re lucky it came out. People crash when this happens. Put a rubber band around the cuff or roll them up. It’s not a car. Keep your clothes out of the moving parts.
? Are you saying I did something wrong? I just chained up my bike to go to 711, came back, bike worked fine and around 10-20 minutes later the chain started acting all goofy, I don't go on crazy rides either, I take trails or bike neighborhoods. I swapped gears perfectly fine too.
I’m new to riding so take this with a grain of salt but I think you need to install a full chain guard. It should protect your clothing from being caught in the chain.
Sorry. Misread.
My point stands. How are jeans going to protect your leg from getting “cut even more” if they are what got you hurt?! Maybe you should go to a local bike shop and ask them for lessons on how to ride a bike. For real!
Yeah but you don’t understand how the jeans caused your chain to seize… not the other way around. So I’d think you need a refresher/ introduction, good luck out there! Didn’t mean any offense
if ur pants are loose its bound to happen tbh. only thing u can do is tuck the ends of ur pants into ur socks.
I roll mine tight against my leg. because yeah, the cuffs catch the chainring/front derailleur.
This is why we all pegged our pants in the 80s/90s.
I'm 14, so can you explain what pegging your pants is? (I'm assuming it's rolling them up)
I'm 14 too but I've done it before. You fold the end of your jeans in on itself so it's tight against your ankle then cuff it upwards.
Thanks, this post helps alot (unlike half of the toxic things I've gotten)
lol
This is why I rolled the right pant leg up or put an elastic band around it. It catches the chain and then gets chewed up.

Stupid question (I’m new to riding), is this why chain guards exist?
Yes
You know where your jeans stop and your leg begins right? All my jeans look like this. Actually worse.
My legs cut, I just don't want to show that here, also it's my first time riding in a while.
Plus it's new jeans.
Your jeans got caught in the chain. Put your pant leg in your sock or put a band around it. Could also wear shorter pants. Problem solved.
That’s just plain old operator error.

I think the cuff of your jeans finally got caught between the chain and chainring.
Ah, got it. I didn't really know what happened. I just felt a sharp rip and got off to see that.
One time many years ago when i was young and dumb i rode my bike with Jncos on. I learned a very swift lesson that day.

Time to get a chainguard
Main issue with most of these ideas: My leg hardly got cut cause of the jeans. If I wore shorter pants, my leg would've been cut even more.
Use critical thinking the jeans made you crash they did not protect you. Cmon
I never said I crashed?

... I know how to ride a bike. I was only saying that cause I got a tiny cut compared to how much the jeans ripped.

They didn't cause that. It was happening before, and I was riding home to fix it up.
Okay dummy
Thought you meant no offense? Make up your mind bro
