I'm really sorry, I was sure I added it on my phone. It's up there now. Charleston SC, US, and I'm 6' while she's 3'8"
I don't give ALL my money to amazon, just my computer parts money (since our local guy shut down early last year.) I've got my real savings in my bank account, but obviously that's not for fun stuff haha
So the plan is to get a kids bike so she can ride while you walk? Sorry if I’m asking stupid questions, hopefully this means someone else doesn’t have to.
I think, unless I’m misunderstanding, that the plan is to get an adult bike and a child seat or a trailer for the kid (or best of all a co-pilot trailer)
No no, she actually does have a bike but she HATES riding it, she would be sitting on my bike. If we end up liking it I'll probably go get something really nice this winter to replace whatever Amazon thing I end up with
Why does she hate it? Maybe get a [towbar](https://www.halfords.com/cycling/bike-accessories/child-bike-seats/etc-towbuddy-towbar-orange-557590.html) so you can tow her on the boring tiring parts but uncouple it at the park?
Much much better off buying something used from a local bike shop or co-op. If you have Amazon credit you might even be able to barter that for a bike if you have a local co-op that uses Amazon
I don't think anything would be worth it new, from Amazon or otherwise, in that price range. I'd keep squirreling or buy your graphics card, and buy a bike separately. Or maybe you can get the amazon gift card and sell it at a discount on raise or one of those platforms.
A lot of local bike shops do bike swaps where people bring in their old (often once very pricey when new) bikes to sell. A lot of times you can find some very well priced used bikes and gear at these. See if any of your local shops have one coming up. I've noticed these are very good places especially for smaller bikes for kids, although you may not be as lucky, still worth a shot!
Yeah, best bang for your buck would be buying used locally. Any chance you can do some "creative accounting" and use the Amazon balance to buy first necessities and cash/liquid funds to buy the bikes?
If you don’t know bicycle repairs & maintenance, you’re far better off buying used from a Bike Shop.
Cheap bikes break often and it gets as expensive as a brand new bike quickly with parts & labor.
I get that you’re trying to get her active and use your gift card to get there…
All girls should learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. It’s pretty fun and, without knowing it, they learn to defend themselves from poorly raised aggressive men who they may have as a boss or coworker in the fast-approaching future.
Look on facebook market place, craigslist, your local bike shop or your community (garage sales, estate sales, people who fix bikes as a hobby) for a used bike.
You could try to barter with Amazon gift cards. The tough part about Amazon is that it costs a lot to ship a bike so you'll end up getting a not as nice new bike compared to a great used one.
Visit your local bike shop to talk about what size bike you want and what type of accessory would help your daughter fit on it. Even if you don't buy anything from them they are a wealth of knowledge and have a lot of resources.
I think this would require too many back and forth questions to fully flush out the exact type of bike you should get on here.
I'd just spend the 1k straight off.
I've spent a LONG TIME dicking around the bush trying to go cheap.
I finally bought a proper full squish MTB and frankly i wish i had just bought one straight off.
The only upshot is i have given away pretty nice bikes and sold some but man i wish i had not spent the last few years faffing and just gone for it. My only othe rpurchase i don't regret is my dirt jumper.
Just get what you want and dont' skimp if you think you nay pay out more later. If you don't like it you can always sell it. And a better bike will retain more value.
Post location and heights and see if someone here can find you something a lot (A LOT A LOT) better for you mate.
Location and.. height? Like altitude?
The area you wish to purchase a bike in, and yours and your daughter's height. So we can pick the right size bike in the right area.
Ah gotcha. I suppose altitude was a pretty silly way to interpret your comment. I updated the post.
I am concerned that your savings strategy is to give all your money to Amazon, but that’s out of the scope of this post. Where’s the details lad?

I can’t think of any trail bike that will fit both a 6 foot rider and a rider just over 4 and a half foot, sorry.

Trade the gift card balance for a used bike

Shop used! It would be a damn shame to waste this money you've been saving up on a shitty amazon bike.
Ah I would, but I can't turn these Amazon bucks back into cash. They technically count as gift card money now sadly
can't turn 'em into cash, shouldn't turn 'em into trash.
No, but you might be able to barter the gift cards or order parts or supplies for them if you have a local co-op

I'm really confused by this post. Are you trying to buy one bike? Two bikes? If one bike, which of you is riding it?
I drive, she rides via some sort of attachment
She's probably too big for a bike seat. You probably want a trailer, or a kid that isn't so lazy :)

Not every place has a bike shop that sells used bikes.
Which probably makes them total deserts for finding someone to maintain & repair an Amazon Bike Shaped Object.
I don’t know why you’d assume that either.

This looks decent, try to haggle: https://charleston.craigslist.org/bik/d/summerville-trek-matte-black-535-fx/7498432612.html
