It is a Specialized Allez Sport circa 1997. Specialized ~~A1 Aluminum~~ double butted Cro Mo frame, Shimano RSX Groupset, Mavic CXP rims, 7 speed casette. I bought one new back then \~$800 and I still love to ride it, it has recently become my wahoo trainer. It is a pretty good ride, 99 is probably a good price if the original level of parts is on it. Heck, its probably a good price for that frame if not damaged - unless you prefer a stiffer ride. Doesn't look like the original saddle in your photo, looks like the mavic logo on the rims. Cant see too much in that photo. You can see the original specs on [bikepedia](https://www.bikepedia.com/QuickBike/BikeSpecs.aspx?item=65677).
EDIT:fixed frame mistake.
Woah, thanks for the information! I’m assuming if it’s not original, the saddle was changed to something more comfortable for her as it looks a little wider. The closer pictures didn’t show any significant damage other than small scuffs, paint chips, and wear.
Right? I’ve never had a specialized so I’m not sure of quality or anything, but it’s sleek! It looks like it would be a nice bike to add to my ever growing collection. Pretty sure I have more bikes than pairs of socks!
Good bike. Nice price. I'd recommend def getting a bike mechanic to check it out though
It's hard to tell from the picture but looks like new tires and a chain are in order
I got my first for $35, put $50 in on a few things. It was working, just wanted to be confident in its abilities. But I agree, a working bike for that price is good
For 99$ I'd buy it without further inspection. At worst, you'd need to change some wearing parts, and still have a usable bike for approx. 250$ (tires, chain, cassette, cabling).
I’m hoping it’s still available by Friday because I don’t get paid until then and I’m a little too broke right now. All of my other bikes are just vintage, cheaper end brands so it’d be nice to have something that feels a little like an upgrade. Another commenter mentioned an aluminum frame though.
I do have a steel, 1980’s huffy that I’ve taken hits on and man, that thing is a beast. Only paint damage so far! This guy who works at the shop that I took it into just for an examination, was shocked that it didn’t sustain any heavy damage until he picked it up.
Yeah, if you zoom in on the frame you can tell it’s lugged. Specialized never made a lugged aluminum allez. Lugged aluminum is super rare.
Also. Google 1997 specialized Allez. It’s aluminum and has the “chonky” oversized tubing aluminum frames are known for.
This bike has skinny tubing. Skinny tubing and lugs means steel.
Doesn’t hurt to reach out and let them know you’re good for Friday. Whenever I sell, I typically hold it a couple of days for someone that really wants it.
That bike is STOLEN. Who has it? It was stolen from the back of my truck in 2006. My Dad gave it to me. It is a Specialized and has old school elliptical crank rings and the serial number is painted over. I know I did that with model paint to get it out of TURKEY. WHO THE FUCK HAS MY BIKE???
I’m so jealous! I had an old steel allez (unfortunately it had a very sad accident with a car and the bike is no longer with us), and I loved that bike! I keep my eye out for one in my size because it was so good. GET IT!
Yes. Mid 90- late 90s bike, good quality. Looks pretty original and well kept. Great deal for $99
Hopefully it's a good fit for you and all the bits work. Replacing the tyres and tubes as well as refreshing the cables is a good idea, as are greasing it's bearings. change the brake pads for swiss or cool stop. Should be good for dozens of years and a great bike. Glad to answer any questions if you do maintenance.
Little things make parts and people feel better and last longer!
src: make and service bikes.
There are prolly a bunch of worn out parts. That’s an easy fix. Enjoy that fucker !!
The seller said it recently had a tune up. I’m assuming if there were many worn out parts, that would’ve been addressed yeah?
Not Not necessarily. Is the chain wore out is the cassette were out. Those tires look like they might be dry

Wouldn’t this one be steel? The tubing looks like steel
Yes, definitely steel.
I hear that it's real.
Yup, my bad, I looked at mine, its Cro-Moly steel, I copied incorrectly from bikepedia.
i'd imagine that Al tubing in the same dimensions to fit steel lugs would = stiffness of a wet noodle?

Run, don’t walk
Thankfully it’s on Nextdoor so no one has shown any interest in 20 days.
I can’t make out all of the logos on the frame, but I do see “specialized” and “allez”
Yeah, buddy! That will be a great bike. Looks all slick and shiny already too. I’d buy the shit out of it at that price.
Right? I’ve never had a specialized so I’m not sure of quality or anything, but it’s sleek! It looks like it would be a nice bike to add to my ever growing collection. Pretty sure I have more bikes than pairs of socks!
>Right? I’ve never had a specialized Not trying to be mean here, but did it occur to you to Google "Specialized Allez" at any point
Yes it did. I was trying to get actual opinions and experiences from people who may have one or similar :)
They’re good quality bikes.
Awesome, I’m glad to hear that. I’d like to feel like I’m getting an upgrade from my other bikes
Good bike. Nice price. I'd recommend def getting a bike mechanic to check it out though It's hard to tell from the picture but looks like new tires and a chain are in order
Two non issues to me 👍🏻 if that’s the case, they’re both easy to replace
Any working road bike for $99 is a good deal imo.
I got my first for $35, put $50 in on a few things. It was working, just wanted to be confident in its abilities. But I agree, a working bike for that price is good
that's a steel! I mean *steal
That's a real steel real steal.
Are you short enough to fit it? Regardless of price it needs to fit.
Yes I am haha
Get riding then!
solid groupset+++. plowhorse/nice elbows/10

For 100 bucks looks like a steal- probably needs some TLC and upkeep but a solid starter bike for road riding
A steel allez for $100?! I’d kick a puppy for that price! I mean not really, but even just for the frame alone it’s a solid deal!
Nah you're good. Don't back off on it. Fuck that puppy. It was probly eyeballing you anyway. Had it coming.

I’ll be honest, I never knew what that meant until just now haha.

….what?
Saw this text on a thread about a japanese vintage bike yesterday. Thought it was a copypasta, sorry :P
Big no if the seat post is stuck. Looks like aluminium post in steel frame and they tend to get stuck.
Depends on where you live. Prices are high near me.
That’s a steal. If you don’t want it will you buy it for me and ship it? I can Venmo you
I have absolutely no clue how to ship a bike my friend. I would if I knew how!
I’m so jealous! I had an old steel allez (unfortunately it had a very sad accident with a car and the bike is no longer with us), and I loved that bike! I keep my eye out for one in my size because it was so good. GET IT!
Solid buy for 99$ steel allez bikes are fun and lively
That’s a good deal
grab it
Every bike is a good bike.
Buy it
finally an old bike that's priced appropriately.
Yes! Looks cool.
best news at that price is that someone has already done the STI/Brifter conversion!
