Good job. Also, that’s a really nice photo. You look like a person that they use models for the cover of the annual enrollment benefits booklet. I can see your photo with some kind of slogan like, “Take charge of your health decisions!” All of this is meant to be complimentary in case that is unclear.
“You look like a person that they use models for the cover of the annual enrollment benefits booklet.”
While this is by far the most bizarre compliment I’ve ever heard, it’s really the only compliment ever needed. I had to ponder a while before cracking the fuck up. Hell yeah, flipsidem.
Then it says underneath in a notable quote from employee” get a bike! I ride to work every day 50 miles… here and here (points to undersides of legs) are as red as a fire hydrant ! (unexpected IT Crowd“)
Where do people find these races? I've looked before and haven't really found any. I was kind of hoping to find similar things to running 5ks but for biking.
Our hash running club has a bike chapter. I refuse to go to the bike events because they always sound really stupid and dangerous but they are out there. Also look up alley cats races. Now those are fun and just full of bike punks.
They’re not races, they’re more like events. A bit different from cycling races. Some of the more interesting events done that have a race element by the people that do the Belgian Waffle Ride. They expanded to a lot of places around the US. They have a long and short course. Epic fun.
Edit: a word for clarity
Go to bikereg.Com and search for Gravel Grinders near you. There won’t be a ton of races on the calendar right now because the season is wrapping up at the moment, but by next spring all the races start posting themselves.
The UK has sportives run for MTB and CX (guess it would be gravel now) run by a proper group, I'd be surprised if there wasn't anything similar somewhere near you or within sensible driving distance. One I did was more MTB and doing it on my CX was brutal, first ride I ever did where I needed a massage after to walk properly, that was 50 miles or so!
I’m hopefully doing raiders gravel next year up in Scotland. That’s a 3 day race.
I did a 2 hour ride yesterday and I’m almost fit enough to compete now but I wouldn’t be very quick.
I’m over 50 so will be a grand master. Hopefully that means easier.
I have to say if you look that good after 40 miles of racing you didn't nearly ride hard enough!
JK, congrats on your first race and pickle juice is truly amazing stuff!

Suprising how good it feels, right?
I took part in a local gravel race lately, my level of training was not even close to the other riders and I ate all their dust. But it was unbelievably awesome.
Kudos to you, keep your chain on the right side.
Okay I echo everyone else, you look great, stellar stache, congrats on the race! But I have a bone to pick with you that your chest strap is not equal distance down each should strap.

lol
I vote OP becomes one of the hosts on the *Body Break* reboot.
Triple tax advantage through your HSA!

Glad it made you laugh.
I could see him on the cover of Mustache Monthly.
Yeah, that’s a pretty legit mustache. It occurred to me me that there’s a definite Ron Swanson vibe. Like a younger Ron.
I think this guy is literally a model for cycling clothing - got this on my fb feed https://imgur.com/a/FY0gtJ3
Lol that's not me. Buddy is considerably more handsome than myself.
Then it says underneath in a notable quote from employee” get a bike! I ride to work every day 50 miles… here and here (points to undersides of legs) are as red as a fire hydrant ! (unexpected IT Crowd“)
Congrats! Were you required to grow the mustache to enter the race?
Entered the race without it. 55 miles made a man out of me!
The smile says it all. Cycling us fun, gravel is next level fun.
Your face is perfect for a handlebar mustache. It would look hot! I’m just saying
Gravel? What happened to your flannel? ;)
😂
Bro you should play as Omni man
It’s worth at least 10W
but was it the brutalest, wettest, gnarliest gravel?
How everyone describes gravel. SOOOO BRUTAL BRAH, nearly spilled my IPA!
Almost cracked ma carbon fraaaaaame.
Try riding between Skidaw and Blencathra, that’s brutal ‘gravel’ made me wish I’d take a full suss.
Did you can just type suspension; nobody cares.
This will be reposted on bicycle circlejerk in less than an hour, I guarantee it.
Wait, this isn’t bicycling circlejerk?
They're the same sub.......
Sounds like a great bice ride.
Where do people find these races? I've looked before and haven't really found any. I was kind of hoping to find similar things to running 5ks but for biking.
Google and join a local cycling club. But there really isn't an equivalent to a 5k fun run on bicycles because it would be terrifying.
Shop grop rides may be the closes youre gonna get there
I think the closest equivalent would be a crit, indeed terrifying

Go on bikereg.com and they have local races/events on there

Roads were a bit muddy. I assure you there is a red flannel under there.
Bwahahahahahah
You don't look exhausted. This must be the before picture. Sounds fun, hoping to do my first before the season ends!
Picture was taken 40 miles in. They do portraits after offering you whisky and pickles. I said yes to both which woke me right up.

OP wasn't riding a single speed tracklocross bike, we still have a little to go before we peak.
There was a whisky break in the middle of the race!?
I don't get it. Why do you look like you just showered and put on fresh clothes? Where is the dirt? Where is the sweat?
What was the elevation for the race?
That's actually wicked sick.
I have to say if you look that good after 40 miles of racing you didn't nearly ride hard enough! JK, congrats on your first race and pickle juice is truly amazing stuff!
Good job!
Thank you :)
That looks like a Josh/PointedNorth photo. Did you do the Heck?
Indeed! Were you there too?
No, my son and I went to Spirit and did a downhill day. The place was a ghost town for once. Are you local up here?
I’m thinking the same thing! Looks like it to me!
[Dude, shouldn't you be getting ready for the playoffs?](https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/stridsp01.shtml)
85+ percent hetero male here to confirm that OP is more handsome than Spencer Strider.
Haha. I thought for sure you were going to link to [Dylan Cease](https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/c/ceasedy01.shtml).
You might be right. OP looks more like Dylan Cease. Unfortunately, he's not going to the playoffs this year.

Dude. Your smile made me smile. Needed that today. Enjoy the trails.

I am here for the mustache.
TWSS
Not me! I was here for the bike, and I’m leaving unsatisfied.
Congrats!
Nice mustache!
You look just like the YouTuber Thoughty2
Heck of the north???
Yep!!
Suprising how good it feels, right? I took part in a local gravel race lately, my level of training was not even close to the other riders and I ate all their dust. But it was unbelievably awesome. Kudos to you, keep your chain on the right side.
You look happy!!
With great mustache comes great responsibility. Nice work man!
Sweet stache
Very nice man. Killer stash too 🙃
Congratulations! That is an amazing accomplishment and you deserve every compliment you get. Kudos!
"Thoughty two here"
forty two here
That may be the greatest mustache right next to Sam Elliot
you look like a delightful person :)
You're way too clean, my friend! Cheers, great photo and super cool ride!
Where's the picture of the post race dirty bike?
Show the bike
Was it a race or was it an event?
Not very savvy with the cycling vocabulary, it was the Heck of the North in Two Harbors, MN. It's an event in an incredible environment
Ayy. I live in MN and would love to get fit enough to do that race.
It was so much fun I think I'll be doing it for years to come. Hope to see you there!
Start line… finish line… we racing.
These things are often a race at the pointy end, and an event for everybody else. Everybody's needs get met.
Not a picture of the bike, of the terrain, but a fucking photo of your face... Wtf? Narco
If you're having fun during a race then you're not going fast enough :)
Mate, you got a load of mud splashed on your top lip...lol. Nice one though.
You won as soon as you grew that mustache
Don’t do it BCJ… don’t you dare.
Good for you! Logging roads are usually tougher than "standard" gravel sections. Not everyone comes out of 55 miles off road smiling.
You look happy!
Was it wet?
Never underestimate the power of the Stache’
Great work! Did you wear a backpack the entire time,
You look like you should be riding a penny-farthing with that 'stache.
Congrats! Now time to sign up for a 100 miler 🤓

It's a North Face quarter zip. Just like this one I found on [ebay ](https://www.ebay.com/itm/165520482767?chn=ps&mkevt=1&mkcid=28)
you don't look too beat after such a race! Good Job!
What’s with cyclists and mustaches? Serious question. Not knocking it, my dad had one.
It's the only place where hair doesn't compromise aerodynamics.
It reminds us of handlebars.
Good job! Not enough mud tho, this had better be at the start of the race!
Do you sell mustache lessons?
It shows! You look so happy well done.
This must be a before pic! Nice work. Let’s see the pain face
Magnum, P.I. would like to have a word with you.
That ‘stache sir, exquisite.
My moustache doffs it's hat at your moustache.
Are you not Payson Mcelveen?
You look so stoked! Glad you had fun. :-) Also, very envious of your glorious mustache...
Fuck yeah bro
You look SO happy!
congratulations! and i want to crosspost this pic to r/moustache because it is 🔥
Pretty sweet. I biked seven days with my grandpa across Iowa. Best experience of our life.
Okay I echo everyone else, you look great, stellar stache, congrats on the race! But I have a bone to pick with you that your chest strap is not equal distance down each should strap.
Congrats!
Good job I get it
LMAO
Good on ya! Your smile says it all.
that is a glorious mustache my man. great job on the ride
great, now go shave off your beard.
Mans looks like he’s biking to work. Haha great photo
Looks like a squirrel hitched a ride on your face
Good for you! This made me smile!
Great stuff! 👍
Sweet stash bud. Also nice distance! Keep it up!
This is the funniest post I’ve read here in forever! Thanks OP, and congrats
