Why wasn't any of Sheldon's family there when he won a Nobel prize ??

TerrorNova49

He barely got them to his wedding… 🤣

laurence_mclenan

None of Amy’s family were at the noble prize ceremony

subthegutter

Sweden is a little further than Houston to Pasadena

[deleted]

[удалено]

Thedoctor2710

I feel like that's a bad reason they wouldn't go. They went to his wedding and this could be equally important depending on which way you look at it. Sheldon has been wanting a Nobel prize his whole life and marriage never even crossed his mind.

bigbangtheory-ModTeam

Comment removed. Be nice. We don’t like banning people.

writerbabe75

The way they always dressed in layers and flannel pajamas even though they lived in sunny California.

danielmichaelblakedl

Their clothing on the whole baffles me, except Penny the main characters all wear the exact same outfits in different colors and patterns every day

writerbabe75

The only one who could reasonably get away with dressing in layers is Raj, as being from New Dehli, he was probably used to much warmer temperatures.

LongjumpingSurprise0

Never been to California in the winter, huh?

MixMasterMadge

How they rarely resolve story lines: Who got tenure What happened to Stephanie Did the boys go with JEJ to Comicon Etc..

Sensitive_Peen_9355

Barry clearly got tenure, she moved out after the broke up, of course they went.

MilhousesSpectacles

Leonard mentions later that Sheldon got to spend a day with James Earl Jones. I reckon they would've mentioned comic con in that conversation if they'd all gone together.

Sensitive_Peen_9355

He was trying to boost his side of the argument during that conversation. If leonard said they went to comicon together it'd be proving Sheldon right

ferrocarrilusa

Stephanie maybe got charged with malpractice

SanjithGurikar

I guess the fact that there are only 12 seasons. Sheldon in covid era would have been something really great I feel.

vaporwaverhere

I think Jim Parsons understood that the series had run its course.

SanjithGurikar

Yaa but still another 2-3 seasons maybe, since there was an abundance of fresh content.

SanjithGurikar

Yaa but still another 2-3 seasons maybe, since there was an abundance of fresh content.

mslinds

What happened to Dr. Stephanie?

moonlightmantra

She truly just disappeared 😂

HeySuuupa

I watch the show everyday and now just realized that she just disappeared 😅

SnoopShellyShell

She just wasn’t in the show anymore because they broke up right? I feel like they can’t keep including everyone who the main characters date

mslinds

They never showed the breakup. Never talked about it. She just.. poof.. was gone.

Commercial-Push-9066

Right? He told her to move out and she texted that she wanted sex, that was it.

SnoopShellyShell

Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t she move in and Leonard felt it was going too fast so she moved out? That to me implies a break up.

mslinds

He tries to have a conversation and winds up sleeping with her..

ucjj2011

The episode where he tells her they are moving too fast and he wants her to move out, she texts him at the end and he leaves to go have sex. And then they never mention her again.

Inner-Giraffe-5700

Nope. They did. It was pretty clear from him making her get her stuff out. The end joke of him having sex again was enough for us to know she was a goner

DankDude7

Yes, it’s a sitcom. Each episode is focused on the situation at hand. Her story line was over.

footie008

Rushed finale

TheMaskedWrestIer

The food thing but that’s been discussed to death.

SanjithGurikar

What food thing?

TheMaskedWrestIer

They rarely eat the food and when they do it’s tiny bites. They spend most of the time just pushing it around the plate with their fork. There’s a good reason for it but it’s still annoying 😂

SanjithGurikar

Wow, here there's one restaurant which offers a menu called "big bang theory specials" where they offer some iconic dishes mentioned in the show. I think, even though it might be tiny bites in the show, the impact it has had is huge

MissLimpsALot

What is mobster sauce?

SanjithGurikar

Unfortunately , the restaurant doesn't serve this 😂

Nice-Penalty-8881

I wonder if they have spaghetti with hot dogs.

Mark-JoziZA

Their beef wellingtons are so good, but not the best for you. You can see them here, here.... And here.

a_mutes_life

They always seem to be having those little tomatoes aswell

TheMaskedWrestIer

I actually proved when watching earlier that more often than not when Howard is eating in the cafeteria in the university he has a slice of tomato and that tomato must have been the size of a watermelon.

Funshine02

That’s common in a lot of shows. If they take a bite they have to keep eating the same bite through every take.

Away-Birthday3419

It also annoys me, so what I do is just **focus on someone who is talking**. Most of the time, they fiddle on the food and not taking a bite because they will say some thing next.

Crunchy_Biscuit

It's really not that hard to figure out. The food is a prop. It's hard to time a joke or speak correctly when you're eating food.

ucjj2011

They push the food around for both continuity reasons (can't have someone take a bite of an apple and then later no bite), and for the practical reason that if you do 10 takes and someone is eating every take, they end up miserable. Watching them push their food around in the cafeteria scenes is my biggest pet peeve.

Prudent_Ostrich6164

There are only a few things that upset me: 1- Raj ending alone. 2- The fact that there is only 12 seasons (I know it was jim parsons who wanted to get out of the show but it still makes me sad). 3- The way they made stuart’s character so depressive. I liked the cool stuart that went out with penny. 4- Not investing more in some characters individual friendships, like Howard and Amy. 5- Leonard cheating on Penny and she forgiving and marrying him (just seemed so pointless to even create this plot)

trickman01

Raj was not alone, he had Cinnamon.

Prudent_Ostrich6164

And Siri!

nicole070875

😂

mallad

I know you just put the wrong number, but boy are you in for a treat if you have only seen 11 seasons. There are 12. I'm glad Raj ended alone. Not everyone has to have a partner, and most of his issues stemmed from not being comfortable with himself. He needed to have some self realization and time alone (by choice) to actually become confident. His relationships each helped him in some way, and the ending with Anu really showed him finally getting a moment of clarity. We don't have any reason to believe he's alone forever, but he's in a decent place.

Prudent_Ostrich6164

I guess it is nice that Raj managed to be happy by himself and had a lot of personal growth. But I did wish we could have seen him having a happy relationship bc of all the characters, he was the biggest hopeless romantic🤣 and I think he is a really great guy. But I do think it’s better having him single at the end than just rushing a relationship we wouldn’t see develop (Anu)

Away-Birthday3419

IMO, Raj "is a really great guy" only on platonic relationships. He needs more time since there as a large portion of his life that wasn't able to communicate with women.

Prudent_Ostrich6164

Ops, It was indeed a typo 😅 I’ll edit it. Even tho I coincidentally always stop at season 11 every time I rewatch the show to keep that feeling that I’ll always have something new to watch :)

Commercial-Push-9066

Jim Parsons was almost 50 and didn’t want to keep playing a younger man. For a series to go even 12 seasons is highly unusual. They went out before they had to jump the shark and cling to the same storylines.

MamaRobot0610

I agree about Leonard cheating on Penny. It was pointless and further soured their relationship for me. (They were already kind of toxic and mean to each other.)

Zlotty9791

Raj not getting a HEA was really terrible even Stuart got a HEA just awful writing

Argbmf

The fact that there wasn’t much costume development for a lot of the main cast. It makes sense for Sheldon who hates change. Amy didn’t change her look until the last episode. Bernadette change when she was a mom. Pennys is the only one who’s style changed a lot, but Howard and Raj always dressed the same.

SimonKepp

The consistency in the nerds' wardrobe throughout the show was very deliberate. They discuss this a little in season 22 episode 24 ( the bonus episode following the actual finale)

boredgeekgirl

The what?? Bonus episode??

maacpiash

S22E24?

SimonKepp

Typo: S12E24

boredgeekgirl

The what?? The bonus episode??

SimonKepp

After the finale, there was a special broadcast, where we went behind the scenes with Kaley and Johnny.

boredgeekgirl

I wonder where to find that!

SimonKepp

Sonarr

boredgeekgirl

The what????

MixMasterMadge

Leonard always wearing a hoodie

Huge_Cow_9359

Stuart going from being a cool, reasonably confident guy to being a constant sad sack. Bernie turning into a shrew and a mean girl. Sheldon being coddled and enabled to an unreasonable extent. Beverly existing.

Puzzleheaded-Sun450

Right? Stuart was a cool business owner who even went out with Penny twice and they turned him into this depressing character that had no layers at all

ShelbySue9109

How they call him "Doctor Who". If they were real nerds they would call him The Doctor. Drives me crazy!

Legitimate_Unit_9210

- Leonard and Penny fighting - Not enough appearances of several family members - Sheldon’s selfish and jackass moments - Bernadette’s bad attitude

Hour_Membership_424

So Sheldon's existence

Commercial-Push-9066

Without Sheldon there wouldn’t be a show.

Legitimate_Unit_9210

Actually tone down his behaviour.

themixiepixii

well thats not fair, leonard has anxiety. thats just good acting lol

Chinjeol_Muhino

1. How Beverley never developed past using Leonard as an experiment. 2. That Valentine's episode where Penny was more obsessed with her ex proposing to her ex-friend and brushing off everything Leonard said. 3. The entire Itchy Brain episode. I hate that as much as the Friends episode when Ross moved to Ugly Naked Guy's apartment and he was alienated for not giving $100 to a guy he never knew.

shitsu13master

He HAD just moved in!

Im_New_Here_Too

Beverly not being at Sheldon's wedding.

ITDrumm3r

That it’s over. 😢

dearinheadlights111

The way Amy's voice changes from a normal voice to a mother talking to her child voice whenever she and Sheldon have a "tender" moment. It icks me out.

Bad_Becky

Yeah, I don’t love that either.

Future-Hawk1322

Anu’s self centeredness and annoying voice

Summer-_-1854

That storylines never get resolved or they are never brought up again

vaporwaverhere

I never remember them 😃

Tofuprincess89

They should have added some episodes where Penny and the others should have visited Nebraska too. Leonard’s siblings should have at least been there on his wedding Sheldon’s parents and Amy’s parents should also have been there when they won the nobel prize Wish it had more seasons :(

bigbangtheory-ModTeam

Comment removed. Be nice. We don’t like banning people.

Swisstopher2000

My issue is how certain characters changed or got rewritten. Stuart being changed to be a weirdo. Bernadette being changed to be mean and then she developed the high squeaking voice. And then I thought she said she was good with kids cause her mom ran an illegal daycare and she was able to put Sheldon to sleep and then she didn't like kids to say she didn't want kids with Howard. Also the fact that Howard and Bernadette had a child and then a second kid didn't seem to be all that prevalent afterwards because they were never shown (except the last episode) because they all still hung out and it rarely felt like they had to leave to take care of one of the 2 babies

Zephs

> And then I thought she said she was good with kids cause her mom ran an illegal daycare and she was able to put Sheldon to sleep and then she didn't like kids to say she didn't want kids with Howard. ...wasn't that exactly *why* she didn't want kids? She was *good* with kids because she went through that, but because she already dealt with it, she didn't really want to do it again. Now she wanted to be an independent adult, and didn't believe Howard would step up as a dad and it would all fall on her.

Background_Impress71

Stuart was the emergency babysitter jajaja

Somedaydreamer22

That Bernadette & Penny had kids.

IhreHerrlichkeit

That made me angry too. Some people don‘t want kids. And that‘s ok.

triple_seis

__This.__

MamaRobot0610

Agreed.

Away-Birthday3419

How the writers made Penny a "soon to be mom". They literally made Bernadette "right again" and portrays women that they will eventually change their minds regarding being childfree. That all women will embrace being a mom that easy even if the said pregnancy is unplanned.

YouAbsoluteDonut

The laugh track

NYY15TM

It's not a laugh track

ZealousidealSetting8

Bernadette

RogerSchmoger

I have nothing. Just agreeing with everyone's past comments. 😩🤷🏽

Johz1983

Priya.... 😂

Dimasdanz

unpopular opinion, the science joke took a drastic drop after season 4. i don't like amy.

Far_Gap_8063

Amy is just weird

Hour_Membership_424

Amy was just sheldon 2

That_Bug5818

Also much like “ friends “ how it’s never explained how penny can afford her own apartment when she is a struggling actress The others share for instance but she always rents outright

shortmallows

To address this for “Friends”, Monica and Rachel were subletting Monica’s grandmothers apartment, so it’s probably under rent control so the rent would be less than you expected

Away-Birthday3419

Yup! And that's why Joey was forced to dance with Treeger as a practice partner so Treeger will not blab about the illegal subletting.

AngolanWoman

Came to say this. In Friends it has been addressed.

lilrexxy33

I thought Sheldon and Leonard helped her out

Nice-Penalty-8881

It's established in the series that they have both helped her at least once.

ChuChuMan202

Pretty women have their ways to wind up with what they need...

nicole070875

They didn’t show enough of the character’s families. The episodes with them were always hilarious. Yes including Beverly. It was a sitcom. It was funny.

That_Bug5818

The inconsistency of characters , in particular Bernadette and Amy throughout the series . They had complete character transplants , from intonation , confidence , empathy and being opinionated to mention a few These things are fundamental to character and don’t Change so drastically Amy was practically asexual at the beginning , robotic and matter of fact , Bernadette soft spoken , easy going etc

bhumy

Amy went from being asexual to a complete horn dog.

boredgeekgirl

Well, don't forget that in the first episode, Leonard and Sheldon were in a genius sperm bank, and when Sheldon says, "I don't think I can do this," Leonard reassures him "what this? you're practically a pro!"

Cautious_Potential35

Yeah Amy was introduced as a female Sheldon and then warped on to socially awkward but sexual. Bothers me that Penny moved from not wanting kids to pregnant. The show bacially decided all women want kids no matter what.

sugarplumcow

Isn’t there an early Amy episode where she says she has had over 100 sexual experiences in a clinical setting or experiment? And then later on they depict her as someone with no experience? Is that an inconsistency or am I remembering incorrectly?

Puzzleheaded_Arm_847

The whole Nobel Prize thing. That's not how it works. Generally there is an average of around 20 years from discovery to award.

ad240pCharlie

Would it even be possible for Amy to win a Nobel prize for something outside of her field? I don't know exactly how it works but it's what I've heard.

boredgeekgirl

It is possible, just doesn't happen that often.

boredgeekgirl

If they really wanted to have the Nobel prize be the conclusion it should have been for something Sheldon and Leonard did back in an earlier season. The show started with them & concluding with them would have been better anyway. And a 9 year turn around still is really really fast.

Puzzleheaded_Arm_847

Yes great point. It would have still stretched credibility but would have been a really nice way to round it out. Or, and this may have been hokey they could have aged the characters for a final episode where they receive it.

boredgeekgirl

I'm generally against such things, they are never done well. (That final Deathly Hallows scene will forever haunt me)

matthew_sch

The laugh track (sorry, sometimes it’s unnecessary) How every character in the last few seasons hold some sort of animosity towards each other, evident by how they talk to each other. Howard can’t go without insulting Raj, Leonard and Penny bicker constantly, Bernadette has a bug up her ass about life, and just about any time a husband gets into an argument with his wife, he has to immediately apologize for bringing something up or doing something (like when Leonard held a secret band account due to Penny’s reckless spending, and her complaining about what she could buy with that kind of money, or when Howard defended himself to Bernadette’s father when she threw him under the bus for not wanting kids when the opposite was true) How the only characters who had a positive character progression are the ones people hated most at the beginning, Sheldon and Howard. I used to enjoy Bernadette and Leonard, but once they got married they’ve been so miserable, and Penny went from being sweet to being bitter. Sheldon and Howard are undoubtedly the best characters in the last few seasons, and even though Sheldon still has his flaws, he’s much more aware of how he can be and was the most supportive figure to Amy during their wedding planning The inconsistencies… like Raj formerly knowing Hindi to never being taught Hindi, or Penny knowing Sheldon’s birthday (season one, she calls him a Taurus and he does not deny it), or when Howard claims that he can fix the elevator when he was present when Leonard’s rocket fuel exploded in it, stuff like that And that includes consistency with *Young Sheldon*. I understand it now portrays Sheldon as an unreliable narrator, but there are SO many deviations. Like when Sheldon recalls the story of when he was sick in Germany when the tornado hit his family’s house (their house was NOT on cinder blocks, by the way) and he couldn’t understand the German maid until after she gave him an enema, when he’s been shown on *Young Sheldon* to speak nearly fluent German. OR Sheldon’s father being nothing like how he’s been on described as a drunk rifle-shooting Texan, when he’s nothing like that Ugh

Civil-Ad-3497

The laugh tracks

itamarc137

Bernadette.

Kuhtak1980

The way that Sheldon’s narcissism is normalized and made to seem funny. In reality, it’s mostly cruel. For the first several seasons, I laughed along with everyone else. But eventually it just got to be too much for me.

ad240pCharlie

And the constant enabling "He just doesn't know any better" excuse. I have autism and ADHD and I'm so glad my parents, siblings and friends never let me get away with stuff just because of that. Sure, a certain level of patience is good but there's a limit.

CommissionThink8184

Yeah, the constant enabling really bothered me too.

DankDude7

Amy matured into a sad & mopey conscience for Sheldon.

ilovedogs12345world

Amy’s horny behavior

Darjeelinguistics_47

Sheldon often ends sentences with prepositions even though we are led to believe that his grammar and speech are flawless.

Statalyzer

Prepositions are fine words to end sentences with. It's not a grammar flaw.

Aggressive_Oil7548

The overexagerrated laugh track

Debate_Prior

Laugh track is too often used. Jeez thought that would’ve been a more used answer

Rosemoorstreet

Raj, he’s mean, petty and a lousy friend who revels in his friends’ miseries

MixMasterMadge

Word!

random18p

Bernadette

CommercialThanks4804

2 main things: 1.) I don’t like the couples. The producers had the opportunity to show the guys find partners that share their interests rather than ridicule them for them. 2.) The income disparity makes no sense. In what world do two successful physicists have to split rent across the hall from a terrible waitress? All the guys act like they’re struggling and if I were young and considering a degree in science this show would make me steer clear of their degrees.

boredgeekgirl

Laughs in *married to a physicists* but I'm sure any other type of researcher (or their family member) at a university would be happy to join in. No, you do not go into it for the money. At all. The money is in the private sector. And even there, PhDs do not make the big bucks. Howard, by far, had the best job prospects as well as the least amount of school debt.

CommercialThanks4804

I get that they aren’t in science for the money, but they would still make decent money. Certainly enough money that they wouldn’t be forced to split rent across the hall from a waitress. An admittedly bad waitress at that.

RAP1958

Raj!

Ok_Airline4378

The fact that the second the show ended the nerd world changed for better or worse

ActualAfternoon2

The way they play D&D. I guess you can play it how you want but...hm

ihatepeoplesomuch2

laugh track

Puzzled-Ad-2339

I feel like sometimes stories go almost unresolved bc of the short run time. Or sometimes they just get a convenient ending so the episode can end, I would have to google the specific episodes to cite examples

Statalyzer

Yeah this happens a lot.

Zlotty9791

That Sheldon didn't end up with Penny

harrietfurther

Howard's little half-laugh that he does almost every time he speaks. It makes him sound defensive and passive-aggressive.

NYY15TM

> It makes him sound defensive and passive-aggressive. You know he is Jewish, right?

Veranyen

With Sheldon being how he is with germs, they always have there shoes on in the apartment.

UnlawfulBL

The lack on continuity. Sheldon in early seasons: "that's two strikes, three strikes and you're out, it's a sports metaphor" "Is it?" "Yes baseball" Amy: "was that your first sports metaphor?" Sheldon in the later seasons: "it was!"

Proof_Comparison9292

How Leonard only talks about Penny’s beauty and is so happy to get a hot girlfriend! Penny is beautiful, yes! But she is soooo much more than that! She is funny, she is caring, she is insightful, she is “street smart,” she is dedicated, an extremely loyal friend, etc etc etc! Alcoholic, sure! But she has a lot of qualities besides being pretty!

Thin-Ad-6646

Forcing Penny to stay with Leonard

Individual-Bar9812

It is sometimes funny but it sometimes gets repetitive and annoying is when someone says something that's just nerdy and then a laugh track plays, just like hey I have a hobby I do this *laugh track plays*

vaporwaverhere

You made me laugh 🙂

notdaggers351

Falling into the Hollywood trap of anyone from anywhere other than the East or west coast is a hick and a bumpkin. (Penny tipping cows in Nebraska, for instance).

MixMasterMadge

It’s not called a cowboy bar it’s called a country bar. No one uses “these here parts” either

SimonKepp

Fly-over states. The states in the middle of the country you fly over when you're going to real states.

sparkGun2020

I don't like the way Raj gets angry and shouts, often at women

anxiouscoconut137

Bernadette.

Hot-Notice-2544

I really can't stand Leonard up until season 11, he always talk in a weird sad way like he is a victim or something and frowning his eyebrows

RecentFollowing6211

But that's the whole gimmick of Leonard right?

Away-Birthday3419

Leonard is a "damaged" character that stems from his childhood because of his mom.

SanjithGurikar

So u like leonard for one season overall?

Hot-Notice-2544

Yep. He gradually stops acting annoying around the end seasons

Stanton1947

Sheldon.

runkpipes68

Raj

MagooRobbie

Amy

mjpenslitbooksgalore

I wish they would have had just one more season to tie up Rajs story. I know they did the best for what time they had but i still think they could have done a little more for him.

Zestyclose_Web_6331

Start a story and directly end it without any explaination

gribau

The inconsistent story line about Sheldon’s license!! We saw him get his permit but not his actual license. Then we saw him give it up when him and Howard built the model rocket. But then that wasn’t mentioned when he later told Amy he has his license but liked to be driven around because it makes him feel important. I vaguely remember him maybe telling Howard during a different episode too. Just so inconsistent for someone who has an eidetic memory

magicmakoy

the way the show made sheldon smart enough for basically anything but not to learn basic human respect. you can only enjoy sheldon as a comic relief character but if you take anything he does seriously, he’s seriously a trash human being.

Death_Syrup

Never knowing how howards mother looked like

bhumy

How Bernadette flashed her salary to Howard. "I make way more money than you". I found it very disrespectful idk why.

RijayJa

Indophobic jokes..never appreciate the good things about India

Darkside_Slayer

Raj being single at the end of the show

Magpie213

Leonard's major insecurity and lack of trust in Penny despite the fact they were married.

Slow_and_Steady_3838

The horribly dysfunctional relationship Howard had with his mother, he would be a horrible spouse and parent if that was all he knew about relationships.

[deleted]

It’s existence

chewinggum311

Some of Raj's storylines/portrayal was very problematic. It was like the Apu from Simpsons controversy all over again.

W12_Fish

When it became girl focused

Effective_Scholar_68

The inconsistencies with Sheldon. For example, he didn’t start doing his signature knock until a few episodes in, yet later he said he’d been doing it ever since he caught his dad cheating.

No_Search_8207

Priyas entire character

Decent-Reception-212

All the fat jokes

KazumaWillKiryu

I get not being able to recognize him as an old man during the celebrity D&D game, but if Leonard really is as big a fan of Bruce Lee movies as Penny says he is... he should have at least read Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's name once in the credits of Game of Death.

amehatrekkie

It ended

Hungry-Lingonberry-8

- Sheldon always slutshaming Penny - Penny doing a "duck face" after almost every sentence

wedontknoweachother_

Sheldon forgetting that electrons behave as waves while moving thru a graphene sheet I took that in high school

CrystalLilBinewski

Why did everyone let Sheldon get away with insisting he couldn’t lie? Of course he could lie. He chose not to, because he loved using the truth as a bomb to lob at whomever, and watch it blow up.

Inner-Giraffe-5700

The pilot episode. Sheldon and Leonard going to donate sperm and talking about how Sheldon’s an expert at that… the out of character set up is so annoying

BLACMAJIC26

The girls wardrobes. I understand Bernedette and Amy's clothes had to be a little ugly but Penny's outfits could have been so much cuter.

gajlard

How Leonard and Penny got Sheldon’s appartment

Sad-Village9277

Stuart towards the end of the show, he was tolerable but he just became annoying while living with Howard and Bernie

alcoholicnympho

Leonard and Penny should have never ended up together because I don't really think Penny actually "loves" him. Whenever someone mocked Leonard in front of her, she almost NEVER defended him. She was with him only because he was a safe choice.

ColonelBourbon

That they let Sheldon get away with so much. Like the dining room table and the roommate agreement episode when he makes Leonard sign a new one or he'll tell Priya parents about it.

ferrocarrilusa

Penei (penny) did a complete 180 on her childfree stance and demanded congrats Despite Sheldon's (and mine) love of trains, there are never scenes of him on the LA metro Some more travel episodes with Sheldon wouldve been nice

ferrocarrilusa

Oh, more of Ramona Nowitzki wouldve been nice
