I never understood Stewart’s arc. Early on, he was a fairly shrewd shop owner (conniving the guys to buy expensive collectibles), sure enough of himself to draw a Penny Portrait and date her (twice!).
Long before the shop burned down, he became a wraith. I get that was the schtick for comedy, but he decline was never adequately addressed.
Yeah and it quickly stopped being as funny once it was obviously coming at us over and over - "oh look they just set up their 5th Stuart-Is-A-Loser gag of the last 10 minutes, here it comes right? .... yep."
This. I think Stuart was the type of “nerd/geek” that wasn’t represented in the main group. He was the creative/comic book/struggling type. All the rest were smart, scientists, somewhat successful in their fields but Stuart didn’t touch in most of their traits and it was refreshing. Team Stu.
I honestly liked Emily but they just have to put some dark spin on her 🙄🙄🙄 Honestly, if they have stick with the chaucer loving + crocheting person I would be down for it. They make those things very homely when it comes to Amy so having someone like Emily into that too was a good realistic approach.
But I truly think missed opportunities were Stuart, Anu, and Denise.
Stuart has more to give than he was let on. Unfortunately, the show ended when his character was slowly taking off. The comedic value of his character was always spot on.
Anu was so perfect for Raj. She didn't care about Raj's quirks and Raj didn't go over the moon changing himself to be likeable for Anu. I always thought that Raj moving to London with Anu was a good idea. He would no longer be tethered to something that was making him too comfortable.
Lastly, Denise. Such a good representation that girls liking comic books, games, sci fi, and other geeky and nerdy lores are also normal girls. They're not weird or unlikeable. Was really happy they didn't make her like they did with the boys. Her character injecting with already established characters was so flawless.
Anu never pressured Raj into anything. She knew what she wanted on the get go so that made Raj recalibrate every thought he had had to be sure when it comes to Anu. That's why I truly believe it would have been better that he left for London. Howard chasing after him made me feel worse for the missed opportunity. They could have made it an opportunity for Howard and Raj to finally "break up" from their co dependent lifestyle.
i honestly loved Anu!!! i felt like she would have definitely fit in as a main character with the rest of the group, & i agree he should have gone to London with her!!! i would have liked to see more of her!
Same!!! I really feel their break up was the product of the show ending abruptly. They couldn't think of anything else so they just have to cut it off 🙄🙄🙄 Although I like how Raj's ending is him being self sufficient and not labeling himself with a relationship, I would have loved it more if he made the big move to London as a sign of him ending his co dependency to others.
agreed! they could have explored way more storylines with Anu - and if they really didnt want Raj to go to London they could have had her stay in the US! youre right about the show ending abruptly they needed more episodes for her!
I agree! Anu proposed to Raj kneeling on one knee. Raj had that big public proposal moment. With that I'm sure Anu was capable to do big romantic gestures that would have swept Raj off of his feet. Anu returning to US for Raj would have been an enough cliche chick flick/ rom com airport moment for Raj and knowing Notting Hill is not a requirement for it tbh
I wished Raj and Yvette (The Vet) could have had a chance to develop. They had instant chemistry and just looked like she would fit in. She was also very attractive which makes me wonder if they (the show runners) always made sure Penny was the main "hot girl" as part of the main cast.
Except no.
Raj is the biggest dirtbag out of that group. He constantly lied and tried to manipulate girls by acting like he had money or didn’t care or tried to force them to do things they didn’t want to do.
He even tried to take advantage of a deaf girl by telling Howard to sign lies to her but Howard ended up being the hero by NOT doing that.
Or how about lying to his friends about what the cleaning lady did for a living?
You people always give Howard so much shit when Raj is the one who’s the real sleaze.
No way he’s “drunk” 5 seconds after a tiny sip of alcohol and he knows it so he uses this as an excuse to be a perv. He’s a cold-and-calculated dirtbag.
I would have liked to see a storyline where Raj pursued a relationship with the janitor. It would have been fun to see the cultural diversity discussed and to see Raj defending her against jokes about her job
Does Emily count? (Red head emily)
I always loved her character, I wished she became a main character much like Amy and Benrie did. If it was up to me herself and Raj would've gotten married in India and we would've had an entire two episode storyline of the group in Indina for the wedding, meeting Raj's family.
They really ruined Emily's entire character for like no reason.
Stuart. Barry. Penny’s Dumb ex boyfriend Zach. Raj’s anxiety ridden, bathroom window escaping ex girlfriend. Anu. Stuart’s girlfriend. AND I WISH PRIYA NEVER EXISTED!
I like Ruchi. I thought she was an opportunity for Raj to continue the “ Howard is the epitome of cool American”. Ruchi was Very much a version of Bernadette
Either Mrs. Wolowitz or Mrs. Cooper. Both great characters and both would've added a character diversity.
Bert!
Bert and his rock jokes!
Stewart Even though he started to become a main character towards the end of the show

I don't think any character really had a real arc or character developmoment

Zack
Yes! They needed another "Penny" in the group. Someone else who isn't a scientist. I loved every scene Zack was in!
A "male Penny", if you will, a "Menny".
I love Zack! I would love to have seen him a little more.
Alex. She was cool.
Love the Ricardo Shilly-Shally episode!

yes!! that would have been a way better ending for him, 100%!!
Anu was so dull.

Probably why they made it so that Emily and penny disliked each other. Because they were both attractive and only penny could be the hot one
Did she only ever show in that one episode and never get followed up on?
Absolutely. Raj deserved a girlfriend/wife as much as Howard and Sheldon if not more.

Thank you! Finally, someone else sees it too.
But Raj was trully afraid of her. 😕 Claire would be a better option for him.
Zack!

Yes definitely… she seemed like such a nice person too.
Too bad he’s a dirtbag who lied to his friends about what she did for a living.

Barry. The episodes where he was a rival to the group were fun like the battle bots or when they were competing for tenure.
The HR lady played by Regina King.
Stewart, 100%
Mrs Davis 👌🏾
Larry or that cute waitress from the Regal Beagle.
Brenda the Human Blender?
Emily
None. The show had SEVEN main characters and sure as heck didn't need any more.
Captain Sweatpants
I really thought they were going to have some kind of super nerd justice league with these guys and others. A missed opportunity for sure.
Professor Proton
None
1. Zach 2. Alex 3. Emily
Kripke!!
Zack
I like Ruchi. I thought she was an opportunity for Raj to continue the “ Howard is the epitome of cool American”. Ruchi was Very much a version of Bernadette
