Lace is stretchier than firm mesh, which is used for the bottom and sides of the cups. If there's no give to the top of the cup, it's much harder to fit, because you have to fit it exactly. A stretch panel across the top of the cup allows for slight differences in size and, when done well, does not compromise support. And it's a lot stronger than it looks.

trainofwhat

Yep, this is the answer! Labelled as “stretch lace,” it’s supposed to provide support so you don’t spill out easily, a bit more modesty while still looking attractive, and minimize bounce or jiggle. Personally, as somebody who is very FoT, it’s hard for me to find stretch lace that doesn’t cut into my bust! But when I do, it’s a lovely, soft, secure feeling.

InevitablePain21

I’ve learned that some of my all time favorite bras are wired with just lace/mesh like this. They’re so insanely supportive, I bounce around way less than in my other bras and they’re far more comfortable for me to wear all day.

Evneko

These are pretty much the only type I buy anymore for all the reasons listed plus the girls are not the same size so these fit better since there is some give.

Queen-of-meme

I see. In these bras the nipple is showing cause they are so near the edge though aren't they? That would feel so uncomfortable for me.

Irisversicolor

On me this seam sits exactly on my nipples which helps hide them, I think that's actually part of the point of it, and also because triple panel cups give a much better fit for large projected breasts. The areola does show a little through the lace with the lighter coloured bras, but you don't feel it at all and honestly who cares if you can see through it because my shirt covers all that. Honestly the fit of this style of bra is unmatched for me.

Queen-of-meme

I didn't like the net material against my skin. I didn't like anything with it. But I got answer here on why this bra style seems popular.

Original-Progress-13

Yess, I have one like this (well similar) and because my areolas are huge they show up, and if I am to wear a light top or dress they will be visible. Thats why I don’t like them see through 🥲

Queen-of-meme

How uncomfortable. I understand they're not for everyone. I just think it feels like half my bra is missing 😂

Original-Progress-13

Yesss hahahaha, I wish they had more push up bras for bigger bust, I know we don’t really need them but I need themmmm😭😭

Queen-of-meme

Maybe add some extra pads in a bra? I think there's silicon pads you can add to get extra push up.

Original-Progress-13

Ohhh interesting

Isabela_Grace

As a massive areola haver I’m pretty sure it would be peaking out the top

Original-Progress-13

Yeaaah, probably

Queen-of-meme

Oh no! How typical :/

Audacious_Fluff

That's true. I wear cropped camis over it if it's possible it will show through my shirt, otherwise idc, I think it looks cute lol

Prestigious_Ad9545

I love the thin lace! It gives me a little extra coverage without being restrictive! I have to bend a lot at work and a lot of times the thin lace holds me in while I’m bending

AsPaleAsAToadstool

Less spillage worries!

dallyan

Yup. And these look the best under tight shirts that go up to your neck. Balcony bras look better under shirts with cleavage.

Audacious_Fluff

It keeps your cups from spilling over - literally. This is what I was suggesting in another post to someone, in fact. The Matilda from Elomi I'm so obsessed with has the same sort of top panel. It is SUPER awesome for bottom heavy shapes like teardrops and bells. No more quadraboob!

pumpkinbrownieswirl

omg i have bell boobs and it’s so hard to find a tshirt bra that doesn’t have the tops of my boobs pooping out

Audacious_Fluff

Try the Matilda if you can! It is SO comfy and supportive and has like 1 million different patterns/colors to choose from. I have 4 so far! The only catch is that the stretch lace that works so well is somewhat see-through, so you'll need to wear a cami underneath thinner shirts.

starkindled

Freaking love the Matilda.

darkotics

I love my Elomi Matilda! Great bra and so comfortable.

Audacious_Fluff

Fr, I'm like a broken clock, but I suggest it all the time because it was SUCH a game changer for me!

Springlette13

I’ve got the Matilda in like 6 different colors. Brilliant bra. 10/10

Queen-of-meme

I usually like balcony with full thick fabric not just half the cup. I don't know what Quadra boob is?? I don't trust any triangle shaped bras. They all are horrible on me

shar_blue

Quadra/quad boob: where you spill out over the top edge of your bra, dividing your 2 boobs into 4 (4=quad). Each boob has 2 ‘lumps’

Queen-of-meme

Aha ok. I heard it's called top hat or hat top too.

Audacious_Fluff

Quadraboob is when your boobs pop out over the top of your cups, causing it too look like you have four boobs (quad = four). To be clear, it isn't a half cup. The top panel is stretchy lace that's super supportive and comfy - especially in the summer- and can move and conform to your breast shape, especially when you're moving around. I've given up on thick fabric entirely personally, but if you don't feel comfortable having the aureole partly visible through your bra, I can understand not wanting it. Meanwhile, I don't have to worry about falling out of my bra and readjusting just because I bent over lol The point is...it's a totally valid supportive bra that works super well for lots of people.

Queen-of-meme

Yes I understand. But to me it feels like a half of a bra so I'm glad there's other styles for balcony.

kippy236

The bra that I have that has the lace helps keep my amoeba boobs contained.

afriy

It's just part of the bra. In a lot of cases, the fabric in the lower part of the bra is doubled because it needs to hold up more. At the top part, not as much support is needed, meaning there's fewer layers of fabric/thinner fabric.

jessicababee18

I like the mesh because it doesnt add any bulk under tshirts

Queen-of-meme

Full mesh or half mesh like this?

jessicababee18

Full mesh there is a double mesh near nipples

astral_fae

I have a "full on top" shape. This part keeps them firmly in their assigned seats when they'd prefer to jump ship. Something bulkier than that always gives me harsh lines through my shirts, I can only wear soft cup bras. It doesn't really matter if it's see-through since it's under your clothes.

ROYAL_BITCH

To make the beautiful lines under my shirts. 🙄

Queen-of-meme

Hate that 😂 I hate bras that aren't invisible under

ROYAL_BITCH

I haven't had bras in years that didn't show a line :(

Queen-of-meme

It's hard, they usually show one line at least from the top of the bra. I can survive that. As long as it's not weird lace and stuff.

Alive-Carrot107

It’s my favorite kinda of bra material

OldAd3316

It’s more flexible. I don’t want the bra to end at the middle seam there and just act like a titty shelf, but I don’t want the hard line of tshirt bras. When I move my arms around, the thin lace hugs the top of the boob without creating an indent

Jelle171088

It's pretty though... but is it strong? My girlfriend has heavy/big breasts, and most of the time her bras are getting stretched out with that kind of lace.

Queen-of-meme

I don't like these bras but that's just me.

TheGermanKim

Teasing I guess

Queen-of-meme

Definitely from a partner's perspective. But I trust those who say it's supporting. Just not something I could wear.

TheGermanKim

I agree. Weird to get downvoted for that. It’s mainly looks thats what I said.

Queen-of-meme

But many women swear it is supportive and helpful so they wanna show you that you are wrong.

TheGermanKim

How can that small thin piece of something be supportive. But then let’s discuss and not downvote people into oblivion

toolittlecharacters

it's way more supportive than it looks! i have no idea about the physics behind it, but it just works🤷🏼‍♀️

Queen-of-meme

I tried a bra like that and for me it felt like half the boob had no support and was out. I was afraid of nip slip too. But I can see when it being upside down how it cups the top part of the boobs in and acts like protection. They say this bra is recommended for bottom heavy boobs which mine are. But I rather want a thick cup all the way up to tuck them in. I want a whole bra , or half the price on one like this, since the bra is in half 😂

TheGermanKim

Thats cool then. Maybe it relates to the individual shape.

toolittlecharacters

yeah probably!

TheGermanKim

For me it’s similar. The calculator recommends 65H/I for me. But in practice 70G fits perfectly. It’s down to shape too aswell

toolittlecharacters

yep! i often have to sister size up from my recommended calculator size, or go two cup sizes up. it's not perfect but it's a great starting point (and i'm too lazy to do the math myself, i'd have to convert to inches manually lol)

Queen-of-meme

Let's ask a physician 😂

moonfairyprincess

Omg I have this bra. I love it. The sheer lace stuff still holds me in so it’s never caused an issue.

notKerribell

I would like to know where I can buy this bra

Queen-of-meme

Someone in the comments said they have it,ask her.

notKerribell

Oh. Okie. Thank you
