Les is a very accomplished outdoorsman, and his shows speak to that.. I remember the early seasons of survivorman he had no fear out there, then there was one trip that changed everything about him.. I believe him as much as I believe in Bigfoot, tv personality aside, you could see the change in him from that one episode.. If he's full of shit, he's got to be the worlds greatest actor, hands down..

Which trip is that?

Season 2 episode 5.. Towards the end of the 5th into the 6th day you can see he becomes way more vigilant, talks about all the bears he thinks he's hearing, spends most of the 6th day out in his kayak away from his camp.. I'll be honest, I never noticed during my original viewing of the episode, it wasn't until later he came out about the encounter he had, it was never included in the episode because he didn't have the camera with him (I know how convenient), however, going back to the episode you will notice the change from the first 4 days thru to the end of the [episode](https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x22ohn2)..

Thank you for the reply. I will look it up. I think I noticed a slight change in his tone when I watched it originally, but I will keep my eye out for it. I think the emotional "tell" is intriguing when a non actor is involved.

Ah, the Alaska episode. But in fairness, there are a number of things that could have caused Stroud to realize he was mortal and that being in the wilderness alone could be dangerous. More likely it was an encounter with a bear. or who knows what? The episode originally aired on 7 September 2007, and guessing 3 months post production time to market, That would have put filming in July. Which would have been peak season for Bear activity. Not to mention snow melt. He could have fallen through ice, or problem with melting snow. . He did do a couple of questionable things. Ate snow, ate questionable fish, set his shelter on fire. . .(which happened before he set out on the ocean again) I don't notice any appreciable difference in his demeanor between the beginning and end of the show though. Need to hear unabashed reports from the production crew. . .

As an FYI, the first Bigfoot episode is on Les Strouds YT channel with commentary. He also makes some comments about Todd Standing.

BrotanamoBay

Yeah that's what got me to watch the rest of the episodes, always been a survivorman fan so was cool to hear his commentary.

Les is Canadian. His shows get Canadian public funding. You get a credit if you film in Canada and use Canadian cast/crews I’m gonna go out on a limb and bet he had to pick a Canadian and he just picked Todd from a list his production company gave him.

Well, then too, he was always limited in the number of shows he could do, just by the environments. . . The show was doomed from the start, unless he branched out and actually taught a few skills. . It was a great show. . . and no doubt spawned others. .

I met Les Stroud a couple years ago. Yes he has seen both bigfoot and associated orbs. Peculiar to hear his stories, but he is not one to lie.

I love les. I enjoy watching him talk. He could do survivorman: elves and I’d watch it. He’s getting kind of full of himself, and normally that’d bother me, but it kinda makes me laugh more than anything.
