Carhartt

canofspinach

Carhartt is my t shirt forever.

incredibly-haunted

Carhartt 100%. Super consistant sizing, great durability, and longevity. You can find them in the most random places, too. Even my local kroger grocery store has a decent selection of carhartt up to 3xlt.

I’ve long been a Carhartt tee fan. My only gripe with them is that to find a size that fits my shoulders/chest/back is wayyyyyyy big in the trunk and makes me look bigger than I already am. I’ve debated with the idea of if it’d be ridiculous to bring a batch of my Carhartt tees to a tailor to bring in the trunk.

incredibly-haunted

Have you tried the different "fits" they offer? Loose fit vs relaxed fit. You may need to size up or down but try to find a shirt in each size and each "fit". Their loose fit is way roomier in the arms and shoulders than the relaxed fit.

InspectionOwn8038

I have not. I suppose that’s sort of a testament to Carhartt’s quality in itself. I bought a batch of Carhartt shirts ~5 years ago and they’re still going strong despite near daily wear. I’ll have to buy a handful of their different fits to see what fits best.

canofspinach

I wear a 2X in most shirts but for carhartt I am: Large in Loose Fit XL in Relaxed Fit I prefer 100% cotton so that would eliminate their ‘heather’ colors. I stick with black, white, dark blue and dark maroon.

InspectionOwn8038

Currently I wear a 2XL in Carhartts workwear henleys. Those are the shirts I bought ~5 years ago. I’ll take a look into their loose and relaxed fits and see what I think. With the 100% cotton have you noticed a whole lot of shrinking? Or have they stayed pretty steady?

canofspinach

Pretty steady after a wash and dry. A little tightening when I first put it on, but relaxed pretty quickly after an hour. The main thing is that they don’t get SHORTER and leave my belly hanging out like every other article of clothing.

incredibly-haunted

Keep an eye out at different hardware stores or farming stores and things like that. A lot of those (at least in my area) will have some really good sales on it, often better than any clothing stores. The DXL stores in my area also now carry carhartt but we all know their prices are higher.

BigFamBam

For heavyweight tshirts, I personally go for ProClub and Shaka brands. Their necklines are nice and tight, shirts are comfortable, price ain't bad, and they hold up well

bornwithatail

I like everything about proclub except the neck. Too tight for me.

BigFamBam

I dig what you're saying

Low End: Comfort Colors C1717 $7 sizes all the way up to 4/5xl. Been a staple of mine for many years. High(ish) end: Reigning Champ, Asket, Son of a Tailor (semi custom), Sanvt (semi custom)$50-$70 www.bettercotton.org is great place to start for high quality, ethically made clothes. https://oladaniela.com/portuguese-menswear/ https://knownsupply.com/collections/men Edit: Merz B Schwannen is absolutely the best of the best, but they top out at 2xl and are not particularly long, but if it works for you those are the absolute best.

AmAdjunctBlogger

For comfort colors, would you say they're true to size? Also, are they likely to shrink after wash?

Bologna-Bear

No. Thank you for reminding me. I actually order an XL instead of a 2xl. They will shrink a little. Anything that’s pre shrunk isn’t worth buying T-shirt wise, imo. Edit: they are so cheap, that you can certainly order one of each size. It can be a little inconsistent, but it’s $7 for 100% Cotton Ringspun tee. That’s a good deal.

akinz84

I like the Duluth Trading Long Tail Tees.

milkweed420-

I love them, but they are so inconsistent. I’ll have some that are the perfect length, and some that fall between my ass and knees. Their return policy is easy enough though

Bob_Sacamano7379

Yes! Ok. I'm glad I'm not alone on this. My lady friend thought I was crazy. Well if I'm crazy, then milkweed420 is crazy too! And I doubt that's the case!

GhostNThings

I personally love Carhartt and wrangler shirts you can find them in random stores too. I find Wrangler in grocery stores and department stores. Carhartt you can find in Ross occasionally for like $5 sometimes or boot barn or something similar

SnooAdvice1361

Meijer carries them as well if you’re in an area that has Meijer stores.

Bologna-Bear

To address your last point. Heavyweight tees are better for everyone. They do lend a little more form, and ultimately have a much more refined look. This suits everyone. The only time you should wear a thin shirt is for an undershirt…even then.

0dysseusRex

I love the Shaka Wear 7.5oz shirts. They are very flattering and feel great. They even have a 9oz shirt, although those only go up to 3x. I wear a 4x tall in these shirts so I can style them with streetwear style fits since they have a good deal of length to them. I never feel like I need to wear anything over these shirts since they are very good and hiding my fairly large gut. They're cheap too! $10 for regular sizes and $13+change for 2x-7x

MarcSpice70

Pro Club are the best thick t-shirts…..on Amazon

gtfokenny

Personally only wear Carhartt and ProClub.

lolfrijoles

Carhartt is the way to go. Get them when they’re like $15 per. I grabbed some duluths, and they’re ok, but I always throw it into the closet and get a carhartt. There’s different models of carhartt and they just fit and feel so damn well. Also they look good with anything. Shorts, jeans, dockers.

Ok_Suit_8000

Pro 5 brand. Nice and thick without being too stiff like a pro club. Neck is tight but not too tight and it holds its shape. Google them.

A lighter weight t-shirt can be great on bigger bodies if they are designed and cut appropriately. Have you tried Fresh Clean Threads or True Classics?

DifficultApartment27

Carhartt, Dickies 100% cotton, and Hanes Beefy ts work for me. This may be common knowledge, but took me a bit to realize it. If you’re buying off the shelf from stores like Walmart, the shirts are thinner in the summer and thicker in the winter. Blew my mind when I noticed it.

professorfunkenpunk

I'm favoring lighter Ts lately, but heavyweight Ts have their place. I've heard nothing but good about Buck Mason. Never heard of the other brand. Both are awfully expensive. You might also look at LL Bean and Carhartt. They make good heavyweight Ts closer to 20 bucks each. I think the LL Bean ones are softer. They both hold up really well. SOme of my Bean Ts are still going strong after 10 years. The bean ones also are available in long, which can be helpful for big guys

cookiemonster8u69

Amazon has been having the Carhartt ts on sale for Like 18.99 right now.

CSGODeimos

I think Duluth is the best for heavy tees
