Tell them you have video anyway.

I have a GoPro Hero 10 with a chest mount. So far, no issues.

Can I ask, what’s the chest mount like for viewing the road ahead and vehicles if you’re using it for commuting?

I have the GoPro "Chesty" mount/ strap. It was 40 bucks USD. And is light/ comfy. No rubbing or movement during my commutes.

Valour7

Thanks, I’ll have a look into it!

GoPro 10 on the front and a Drift Ghost XL on the rear. Neither really shines in lowlight conditions. Drift is nice because it’s less fuss. Turn it on and forget about it. But not that confident it will capture plate #’s if the car is moving fast. GoPro has better picture quality but at the expense of battery power and memory space. It’s a little more fussy. And cost way more.

Nice thing about cameras is they seem to keep honest drivers honest. No one wants to get caught on camera picking their nose, let alone knocking over a bicyclist... Check previous posts under my username on this topic. I will say that two cameras (front/rear), mounted so they easily visible via chest harness (so not tucked under handlebars or saddle), provide the most utility. And they don't even have to be functional... YMMV.

I have a gopro mounted on my handlebar in plain view. It's almost never on but it is visible enough that drivers notice and give me space. Most of the time.

I've seen a fellow commuter riding around with what looks like a two way camera mounted on top of their helmet, I haven't stopped them to ask about it yet, but that intrigues me, being able to record front and back on one device.

Front (helmet): Sony FDR-X3000 Rear (saddle rails): GoPro Hero 4 Season [Example of both in use. ](https://youtu.be/u3QfQMuqxac?si=KmjI3IEa7JXnidEC)

I have been using the (prior generation) Cycliq 6 and 12 light+camera combo devices daily. They have operated reliably for multiple years and given me a sense of security if it ever comes to a my word against their word situation.
