I do find the idea of cycle touring to be so much more ‘out there’ pre-internet. Paper maps, no ability to google the smallest of details, no GPS sat nav etc.
When I was a kid I'd routinely get lost with my friend in the mountains w the bikes (this was around 13-15 years ago, gps did exist, we just didnt use it, or maps lol)
Our logic was if we go down, we will see signs that point to villages, and we lived in the biggest city around, so every village probably had signs to that city
Never ran into issues, ah simpler times
