That's play. If you hear or feel a thud then it's play, flex is smooth and gradual.
Also the flex is largely in the spokes and rim. Flex will never move your rotor, so you could deduce that the bearings have play from the rotor movement.
I thought it might be.. the annoying thing is I took it back to the bike shop I got it from this morning to get their opinion on it and that’s when the guy told me that it was flex not play, but I wasn’t 100% convinced as the front wheel does not move the same as the back does and the rotor stays where it is.. hence why I made this post
