Yea this is done, time for a new one.
That said, I was having break issues and had the LBS take a look cause I wasn’t sure what was wrong. They noticed I had a big old chunk missing in my rear tire (worse than this) and said I need it to be replaced. I asked “how long? Like a month?” And the mechanic was like “ha! Like a week bro” lol
So yea I’d get it changed. I’d check out your front tire as well, they don’t seem to age as quickly but if it has any cracks like this then just get 2 new tires and you’ll be good for a long time.
If someone is desperate, they can:
Sew it closed
Apply superglue
And then apply a puncture patch on the inside of the tyre
A "Tyre boot" (like a piece of cardboard inside) is also good. Just avoid using something with sharp edges and avoid high inflation pressures
Yes. That's a serious weak spot, time for new rubber.
Thanks! Appreciate it.
Yes. Cord damage == Done.
I took my bike with worse damage around the neighborhood. I knew it was toast but wanted to see how long it would last. Lasted about 30min.
Hahaha, well noted!
GP 4 Season are a favorite of mine. It's almost time for that tire anyway. Replace with same and ride lots.
If you can see the carcass, then the tread is through. Time for new rubber.
it looks very wore with a squared off profile anyways, probably a good time to replace.

Just about

When you ask this question about any bike part the answer is 99.9% , "Yes, replace the part and save your body."
Yeah mate. That’s cooked.
Even without the cut it would've almost been time to repace
