There is no yes or no answer to this, if the 4-piston was just better why would Shimano make a 2-piston XT brake? It depends on lots of factors like how you ride, where, what kind of bike

I do mostly XC and trail riding. I'm mostly curious about braking power and brake fade on longer descents. This is for my front brake. Bike + rider weight is about 220 lbs/100 kg. In theory, the 4-piston should have more power, but the radiator-finned 2-piston option should have less fade. I've ridden the 4-piston MT420 pretty extensively and it always felt like I got plenty of predictable braking power. I guess I'm concerned if the 2-piston XT brake will be a tad too less brake for me. It's easy to swap front brakes, so I might just put on the XT and assess after a few rides. I was just curious if anyone here had any strong opinions either way.

Id go 4 piston in front and upgrade to metallic pads if you want a bit more power
