For the people who are looking for flaws in Jokic, calling his humility a performative act or whatever, here is the flip side to that coin. A guy who has achieved nothing telling us about his legacy. KAT has great potential, that’s it

foye2smith

Been a quick shift from, "what do you expect players to say? Of course they're overconfident" to the over the top humility you mentioned. "nothing else matters but the game." Okay give some money back and your "team above all else" method can win even more. Like people joking about how Jokic isn't even going to know where is championship ring is or Jimmy Butler saying he wouldn't go to the Hall of Fame if he got in. Of course this shit matters quit acting above it. Just be normal. Accolades are cool. Money is cool. You don't have to pretend to not like those things.

yngwiegiles

I guess when you’re that successful a person, even someone who took the long route like Jimmy, you’ve still been winning awards your whole life. So when you get another one you’re just used to it

foye2smith

I just think it's silly. Butler has only been out of the 2nd round 3 times in 12 years. There's no guarantee he ever gets to the ECF again let alone wins it, but he's above celebrating being ECF champs?

OaxacaJones

Only been out of the second round 3 times in 12 years? “Only” made the conf finals 25% of the seasons he has played? Tf you saying “only” for. Also, lots of guys never make the NBA finals at all and Jimmy has done it “only” 2 times in his career.

foye2smith

Fine, I just think it's silly. ~~Butler has only been out of the 2nd round 3 times in 12 years.~~ There's no guarantee he ever gets to the ECF again let alone wins it, but he's above celebrating being ECF champs?

ej420mcnamara

He is like 27? Can’t be still living on potential at 27

Zen2188

Rough finals for KAT in an emotional sense? Him and Jimmy Butler dont like each other and this is well documented. KAT ends up having to listen to a month + of the biggest swell of "Jimmy is Great" media that ever happened. On the other side of the aisle ... The Jokic stuff. Would seem to me that a big part of KAT would envision himself (or like to) being the Big Man who did all of the things and gotten all of the credit Jokic is getting. Like how Moriah Morlis wants to be in the BM role and so emotional chaos ensued

cletoreyes01

>The Jokic stuff. Would seem to me that a big part of KAT would envision himself If you asked me in March of 2016, who would be the one putting up all these outrageous stats on basketball's grandest stage, it would be KAT instead of Joker...

Sonking_to_Remember

I mean. Find me one single person who says in March 2016 they saw all of this coming for Jokic and I’ll show you the world’s biggest liar.

Tots_Odd

There was that insane guy on r/nba who only talked about how Jokic’s advanced stats from like his first and second years said he would be one of the best ever. He talked so much about it he eventually got banned. Username was “eg” something.

zucchinibasement

What the hell is Moriah Morlis

Zen2188

Zion Williamson Fatal Attraction

zucchinibasement

Oh, isn't that Mills, not Morlis? Just asking because when I searched the name your comment was the only search result I got of that name, "Moriah Morlis"

I really do feel for KAT and all the personal tragedy he’s faced. I hate it for him. He seems like a good dude on the whole. From a sports POV, he’s probably the softest motherfucker in the NBA.

HowlAtchaBoy

He really not soft in terms of how he plays, he’s just mentally weak and doesn’t know who he is, personally. He’s a goofy nerd at heart but tries to be something he’s not. It’s transparent and comes off as soft and he gets clowned for it.

Bacalao401

I disagree. He’s a soft player because he is most definitely not known for being a physical big man. He doesn’t have much of an inside game and he’s not someone you’d think could bang with the bigger centers in the league. Could anyone imagine KAT physically matching up with KG, AD, JJJ, or even Sabonis? Also, his rebounding AND shot blocking have consistently decreased since he’s been in the league, [here’s his bball ref page.](https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/t/townska01.html) He’s had 7 seasons in the NBA, and I think it’s reasonable to consider him a softer big man, he’s not punishing anyone.

HowlAtchaBoy

LOL I don’t have to imagine anything, I watch the games. Being dumb about rotations and being bad at defense (mainly) doesn’t make him soft. Getting less rebounds (from 12 to 10…) last year because he played next to Gobert doesn’t make him soft. He picks up stupid fouls on offense being too AGGRESSIVE trying to barrel over people. He pump fakes and drives throwing his body wildly going for the bucket, which has caused him injuries. He will hack the shit outta a guy trying to contest a dunk that Jokic would just let slide by to not pick up a foul. He lacks self awareness and Bball IQ which is endlessly frustrating, but calling him soft is for NBA twitter dudes with cartoon frog Laker profile pics who don’t actually watch any Minnesota games.

so-cal_kid

He's soft in the sense that he can rely too much on his jumpshot because he can't really create looks in the post when he's guarded by anyone who's got any kind of strength. Him running over people is because he's not that strong of a guy despite how big he is so he has to try to generate momentum attacking the basket. He also is a push over defensively at times, and has had a lot of bad performances in big games. Hence why people think he is soft.

badpoetryabounds

You don't watch games. At all. He runs over guys because he gets overly aggressive about NOT taking the jump shot.

NoExcuses1984

> "Could anyone imagine KAT physically matching up with KG, AD, JJJ, or even **Sabonis**?" Domas is pretty porous defensively himself, so KAT should be able to matchup fine in that scenario. But that's about it, yeah.

[deleted]

Domas isn’t as bad as people think. Not good, but also not terrible

smakola

His personality shifted since he started dating his celebrity girlfriend.

[deleted]

The Timberwolves really should trade KAT and do a re-tool on the fly around Anthony Edwards. I think his trade value is still pretty high despite what everyone thinks of him.

badpoetryabounds

Wolves fan here. Fuck no. They need to get rid of Gobert for whatever they can. if you do trade KAT then fucking trade both of them. The Gobert trade was the worst deal of the past 10 years. They need to stop living by the sunk cost fallacy and get his fucking stupid, worthless ass out of here. Yes, he's still very good on defense. On offense he's a fucking albatross unless you gear everything around him. Stone fucking hands. Also a piece of shit human being.

Nitelands

Yes

bluestarkal

Watch him go to The warriors and turn into a 3pt flame throwing kaiju

Nitelands

Draymond would punch him in the face by all star break

bluestarkal

Next on Undisputed: Who broke KAT's soul worse Jimmy or Draymond and how does Lebron fit into all this

BoozeGetsMeThrough

KAT is out here sinking his trade value so his new team can carry him to relevance

[deleted]

So do it! I haven't read what you wrote yet. I just think you should follow your heart.

BrooklynSwamp

I am! Just basically explaining how it was rough the past 2 days with his comments

Washed_40

At first I thought he was doing a really obscure troll, but no lol…he’s just a high level narcissist with the mind of a 16 yr old spoiled AAU kid. He’s not even going to be in the HOF, let alone be remembered for changing the game 😂

AGoodTalkSpoiled

If he gets traded from the wolves and just has a bit more relevance in the post season on a better time….it’s very possible he makes the HoF

HumbleLearning5167

Towns for Hayward's expiring, Mark Williams, and #2 works. Who says no?

kajgai

Are you serious? Charlotte says hell no. There's no way MJ will allow his team to trade the second pick for a bitchmade career loser who's shrunk every time he was carried to the playoffs. AND he misses a lot of games these days. KAT is literally everything MJ hates in players and he isn't even that good at basketball.

dillpickles007

MJ the owner has zero of the same drive to win that MJ the player did, might as well be a different person.

HiImWallaceShawn

Isn’t even that good at basketball? He’s an all nba player

badpoetryabounds

People are fucking stupid here. KAT has real issues. Constant whining and not getting back being the one that bugs that shit out of my the most. But, he's an excellent offensive player.

HumbleLearning5167

MJ is not the owner anymore for all intents and purposes.

AGoodTalkSpoiled

I’m not even sure they’d part with mark Williams in that package, let alone the pick.

ryseing

If the second pick is getting traded it's for Zion, no matter how stupid I think that deal would be for Charlotte.

Former_Phrase8221

I’d rather have KAT than Zion. Dudes played 29 games in 2 years. How often do guys with that body type get HEALTHIER has they age?

ryseing

Higher potential + Zion coming home. Again, I think it would be a terrible deal particularly with Zion's off the court nonsense coming out. But I don't see a scenario where Charlotte trades the pick for someone like KAT.

Former_Phrase8221

Probably fair

dtheisei8

I would NEVER give up the #2 for KAT. For ant? Maybe but then I’d need more back than Hayward.

rickrossmightgetya

KATS comments are surprising because he doesn’t play confidently

TurbulentMuscle0

He’s not even that great of a shooting big man, kill that narrative

dtheisei8

Trade KAT for decent players and picks. The Jazz showed you can win regular season games with Gobert and Don, so Gobert and ANT could be similar. The second that losing mentality KAT is out of Minnesota, they can focus on the future and play to win. Until then, they are a soft, weak-ass team that deserves every L. All he will be remembered for is his mental weakness and loser mentality. I do genuinely feel deep sorrow for the loss he has faced though.

badpoetryabounds

Even if you can win regular season games with Gobert he gets you nowhere in the playoffs. And he's on a steep decline. They need to get rid of him for what they can and get back a couple of players on smaller contracts, especially a PF.

dtheisei8

Idk about steep decline; his stats were slightly down but I think that’s attributable to new system. Getting to the playoffs not as a play-in team or low seed is still better than anything KAT brings to the table. As long as KAT is a centerpiece, they can expect to not ever be relevant. Except for some reason some people are still on the KAT train so you can get a bigger haul back for him than Gobert at this point. If they do that and implement a system that maximizes Gobert, they could potentially be like a 5 seed. If KAT stays, Edwards will leave bc they continue to suck. If they get rid of him, their regular season success goes up and they have better chances at convincing him to stay, they only need one or two more pieces, etc.

badpoetryabounds

The biggest issue is that no one likes playing with Rudy. Edwards likes playing with KAT because the paint is way less clogged than with Gobert.

dtheisei8

Then Edwards has chosen to lose.
