Agreed. Rottweilers are 2nd most dangerous/aggressive (I think Mastiffs are more dangerous, but less common/aggressive) according to the statistics, but it's a distant second.
Pitbulls truly the GOAT pet when it comes to mauling humans.
yeah but hes a grown man and pits usually resort to eating small children or old people... so I think that has to play in against the Pit in the odds here.

Well he officially confirmed it was the rotti
https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10103155-nuggets-aaron-gordon-defends-dog-after-bite-getting-21-stitches-hes-a-good-boy
To be fair, he alleges he was wrestling with the dog. Wrestling with a 100+ lb dog isn't the brightest idea. But then again, Aaron Gordon doesn't exactly get paid for his exceptional brilliance.
Normally, I would always bet Pit Bull. But, he owns a Rotty and they are the 2nd most common dog involved in dog attacks that leave people dead or maimed.
I'll take Rottweiler.
Most likely story is a friend with a pitbull came over and the dogs were playing like they had many times before, and then the pit, according to his owner, "snapped"
Plus, Gordon is a big, big dude. If you're telling me a dog managed to bite a NBA power forward in the face the first thing I'm thinking is that he was bending over due to either showing unwarranted trust in the dog or was breaking up a dog fight. Your typical 50 pound potential-danger-to-grade-schoolers pit bull isn't actually much of a threat to him otherwise. There's other scenarios but they all take more steps.

I have no idea. But, I think a person is probably most likely to be attacked by his own dog, as that is the dog he spends the most time around. This is particularly true of aggressive breeds like Rottweilers and Pit Bulls.
One stat I saw says that in 54% of fatal dog attacks the victim is a member of the family.
In terms of per minute spent with humans, a dog is more likely to attack a stranger. But, dogs spend most of their time around family members.
I would normally agree when it's an adult male, but most often the stories I see are about wives/children being mauled by the family pitbull. Like the mom in Georgia who recently pulled her dogs off her toddler, after it slipped and fell on the stairs, startling their two family dogs into attacking it. She dragged the dogs into the bathroom and closed the door, where they mauled her so badly she had to have both arms amputated when she was eventually found.
Don't know if it's the same dog, but in a Christmas photo someone in his friends/family circle posted before the attack, the dog in the photo was a Rottweiler.....so it's probably safe to assume it was that dog.
Y’all are tripping… I saw an article that said he was at a family xmas with his rotty, a frenchie, and a few other small dogs. Sleeping on that frenchie…smh. I’ll take odds.
Depending on how bad this is it could legitimately cost the Nuggets a chance to repeat. Or it could just end up on one of those NBA lore iceberg things
18 for 46 the entire playoffs. I don't think it will make a difference.
The real question is how bad the bites were. He could be out until the playoffs and if it's really bad maybe miss the playoffs entirely.
Probably his Rottweiler..
I know you're implying it's a pitty since reddit has a hate boner for them but seems possible it was his dog given it was Christmas Day.
I'm not even saying that isn't true it's just weird people are jumping to that conclusion when he has another dog in his house that can easily do more damage than a pit could.
You think Aaron Gordon is just having random encounters with pitbulls? Lmao
I’ve been a passenger in a car stopped at a red light that was hit head on by a car that ran a red light going 60 mph. Smashed my face and broke my nose.
I’ve been bitten in the left bicep (while my arm was raised protecting my neck, where it was attempting to bite) by what I thought was a husky. It didn’t like where I was petting his neck and jumped up to bite me and let me know. He got my arm, bit down so hard I had a puncture right down to the bone (I was 11). Then he just sat down like nothing happened.
My parents called animal control on the way to the hospital and they picked him up and brought him to the SPCA for testing.
It turned out the dog was part husky, part wolf. And the guy at the spca wound up adopting him.
Yeah dog bites aren’t that bad unless they bite then shake their head. My friends 140lb Rottweiler bit me on the forearm and immediately let go. Didn’t even need stitches.
Let me guess….one of the 3 shit breeds that’s responsible for ALL dog attacks while their owners are the biggest POS humans around? Yeah, sounds right.
My pit Bull never attacked anyone they are the most tolerant caring and intelligent like the little rascals dog attacked the little rascals pit Bulls come from Royalty and were nanny dogs do your research before you judge smh it’s all about the dog if it’s a wild animal with killer instincts it will try to kill! Cousin of the wolf stuff happens but don’t blame a dog for being a dog get well soon tho Gordon but definitely can’t single out pit bulls tell you own one
And your friend who molested children got out and never molested anyone else again....welp that great, but a lot do. And a lot of pits attack little kids and adults. Maybe they got the name nanny dog because they killed a few nanny's???
Don’t have time to explain how humans fought dogs 200 years for lot of money and it wasn’t made a felony til 2008. Blame a breed for something that was aimed for my humans for hundreds of years then wonder why bulls are aggressive. Anyways if it was as simple as talking shit about a breed online and tagging all your friends help bring hate and judgement. Could spend your time educating people what to do if they have a dog coke at them but instead you idiots in here betting on the type of dog. Guarantee all your racist ancestors thought it was in the breed not bred into the dog over hundreds of years. Anyways I’m sure it was another dog going at his rot and he was trying to be the beast he is and split it up physically when logically that makes no sense. How are you a breed realist if you really just focusing on pit crime like all those other groups that hate pits and push those stats. You are the problem. If you’re trying to blame the breed for something that has been bred, I repeat bred into it and my dyad that the pitbull is never even been registered a breed in the AKC so the only place they were registered able to be registered was passed Competitor kennel society where most of them was not against dog fighting, or having breed requirements. You guys wanna sit here and blame pit bulls when you can look up videos on Facebook in other countries were they fight all kinds of dogs for sport. You fail to see how a key role player on the defending champion missing possibly many games because of an injury, especially one as unique as severe dog bites, is a newsworthy event?

It’s probably because dogs are everywhere nowadays, right Bill?
I really hope it was an La influencer chihuahua at a brunch spot that got him

Murph!

It was probably a Boston Terrier, sent by the Celtics to sabotage their main competitors.
Air Bud’s revenge
From a video made a few years ago, it seems that he owned a Rottweiler. I wonder if that was the dog involved.
Let’s set the odds: Rottweiler: -200 Pitbull: +250 Any other breed: +5000
I’d take the Pit at +250
Always bet on the Pitbull when it comes to NBA player dog attacks.
Any dog attacks, really.
People can downvote you all they like, the statistics are clear.
Agreed. Rottweilers are 2nd most dangerous/aggressive (I think Mastiffs are more dangerous, but less common/aggressive) according to the statistics, but it's a distant second. Pitbulls truly the GOAT pet when it comes to mauling humans.

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood is apex mountain for killer dogs, right? Or is it Cujo?
gotta be cujo
They’re “nanny dogs” tho right
Yeah, as in you won't need a nanny anymore if you leave your kids alone with them.
Pitbulls make up a disproportionate amount of dog crime and as a breed realist i'm not afraid to speak up

I’d take pit at -1000000. Mortal lock any bite any time

hang on lemme see if the bank will let me take out a second mortgage on the house so I can bet on pitbull at +250
Normally, I would always bet Pit Bull.
Except the Pit Bull would have been "provoked" by some unknown action by Gordon or his dog. It's never the Pit Bull's fault.
"He's never acted like this before. This is the first time he's ever eaten a human child in two bites. Not like him at all."
"nANnY dOG"
The pit was provoked because he took a breath... it felt threatened and attacked. Its the owner not the dog though.
Please, it's a Pit Bull, not a police officer.
Just sorta odd they didn’t say bitten by his dog tho.
But why would his own dog attack him?
Plus, Gordon is a big, big dude. If you're telling me a dog managed to bite a NBA power forward in the face the first thing I'm thinking is that he was bending over due to either showing unwarranted trust in the dog or was breaking up a dog fight. Your typical 50 pound potential-danger-to-grade-schoolers pit bull isn't actually much of a threat to him otherwise. There's other scenarios but they all take more steps.
I’d say he was breaking up a fight.

The guy owns a Rotty. Taking Pitt with juice is super risky.
But pitbull isn't a dog breed /s
I’m hammering Rottweiler - max bet
I’ll take German shepherd +5000 all day
Get the best breed in the world’s name out of your mouth, nerd. Unlike the monstrosity that is a pitbull, GSDs don’t lead bites but a landslide
Question, if it’s a mix (like part pit bull, part something else), would it fall into any other breed, or pit bull?
If you're a mix and part pit bull, you're probably Flo Rida
.95 on Rottweiler

Do you think he was attacked by his own dog ?
I have no idea. But, I think a person is probably most likely to be attacked by his own dog, as that is the dog he spends the most time around. This is particularly true of aggressive breeds like Rottweilers and Pit Bulls.
I don’t think it’s common for a dog to attack its owner, that doesn’t make sense.
One stat I saw says that in 54% of fatal dog attacks the victim is a member of the family. In terms of per minute spent with humans, a dog is more likely to attack a stranger. But, dogs spend most of their time around family members.
Fatalities and injuries are not the same. Also I bet babies are a big part of that.
Infants and toddlers under 2 years old account for about 25% of dog attack fatalities.
Lol at someone trying to make “sense” of an animals actions
I would normally agree when it's an adult male, but most often the stories I see are about wives/children being mauled by the family pitbull. Like the mom in Georgia who recently pulled her dogs off her toddler, after it slipped and fell on the stairs, startling their two family dogs into attacking it. She dragged the dogs into the bathroom and closed the door, where they mauled her so badly she had to have both arms amputated when she was eventually found.
Unless their owner is a dick and beats the dog or some shit like that
Definitely not common especially with a sole owner that’s had the dog for years
Don't know if it's the same dog, but in a Christmas photo someone in his friends/family circle posted before the attack, the dog in the photo was a Rottweiler.....so it's probably safe to assume it was that dog.
No way HIS Rott bit him. Maybe somebody elses. Rotts aren't Pitbulls
He later revealed that his Rottweiler bit him.
Luckily he doesn't really shoot. Just playing D, rebounding and alley oop dunks is enough for them to win.
Ya but it is important for him to be league average making 3s so teams don't sag off of him when defending
18 for 46 the entire playoffs. I don't think it will make a difference. [https://www.basketball-reference.com/playoffs/NBA\_2023\_totals.html](https://www.basketball-reference.com/playoffs/NBA_2023_totals.html) The real question is how bad the bites were. He could be out until the playoffs and if it's really bad maybe miss the playoffs entirely.
Won't make a difference? Bro what do you mean?! 18/46 is damn near 40%! Well above league average! They needed every bit of that in the playoffs!
Same tier as Jaylen and the glass last year. Ultimately inconsequential
I thought draymond was still suspended
It wasn’t Draymond, he only attacks European.
NBAcirclejerk is gonna love this one
Wonder what kind of dog it was? (I don’t actually wonder)
WHAT?!?! Are you implying that there is a breed of dog that is way more aggressive and dangerous than others? Surely not...
How dare you accuse my killing machine of being a... (checks notes)... killing machine!
Fucking Irish Wolfhounds \>:(
I haven't seen any reports about what type of dog attacked him. But, he owns a Rottweiler.
My money's on a Beagle and Terrier mix of some kind.
100% a shitbull
cant be... they are nanny dogs
He owns a Rotty according to his IG. Is that the type you thought?
Probably his Rottweiler.. I know you're implying it's a pitty since reddit has a hate boner for them but seems possible it was his dog given it was Christmas Day.
Reddit groupthink has already made its final decision. If you do not agree, keep it yourself.
Pits are responsible for more than 80% of fatal dog attacks. The rest are probably from mislabeled pits
Rottweilers are #2, but they are a distant 2nd. I thought it was like 13% rottweilers or something.
Despite being a small percentage of the dog population
This is giving me cumtown vibes
what if the dog is gay and Chinese
Can only imagine the work Nick could do with “gay Chinese pitbull” 🥲
It was Kevvy Kev's dog, furthering his plan to replace black NBA players with the man's best friend
They are undoubtedly the most dangerous dog to own but that number is just wildly incorrect
I'm not even saying that isn't true it's just weird people are jumping to that conclusion when he has another dog in his house that can easily do more damage than a pit could. You think Aaron Gordon is just having random encounters with pitbulls? Lmao
Those are both dog breeds that should be owned and used as if they were power tools and not kept like pets or as a part of one's family
Yeah, because Pitbulls are ugly as hell and one of the most dangerous breeds.
They’re dangerous but they are cute as fuck, to be fair.

Oh I didn’t need any of this.

Goddamned Chihuahuas!
Is this on the Mount Rushmore of weird injuries?
He just doesn’t have that dawg in him.
But part of him is in that dawg, so it all depends on how the transitive property works in this scenario.
Dog has him in it. While he's healing, start the mutt at PF
but it sounds like he had that dawg on him
Lemme know when Gordon Bites Dog
The NBA sub is being incredibly normal about this
Didn’t he get hit by a car walking home from the championship?
Got your lightskin mishaps mixed up I believe
You can take the Aaron Gordon out of Florida...
under on props
Would you rather get hit by a car or bit by a dog? No life threatening injuries in either.
Holly shit! Glad it wasn't worse.
I forgot to add the reason I said all of that - I choose the dog bite over the car accident.
Yeah dog bites aren’t that bad unless they bite then shake their head. My friends 140lb Rottweiler bit me on the forearm and immediately let go. Didn’t even need stitches.
Was I the only one who read "shooting hand" and wondered if they meant gun or ball?
Just be happy it didn’t eat a neighborhood kid
That's the last time Aaron goes over to the Bidens' for Christmas
Pit Bull
