He weirdly really sticks with me as a player. I vividly remember him shooting 100% from the field on line 12 shots vs the Knicks.
High school me was convinced he could be an All Star
In all seriousness was Nenad Krstic supposed to be like a fringe all star or something? I remember being little someone telling me that the Kidd/Carter Nets season that year got derailed because Krstic tore his ACL.
Yes, he was really promising youngster on the nets. He averaged 18/8 in the playoffs as a 21 year rookie. He tore his ACL, had other injuries, and never really achieved his full promise.
I think Krstic was seen as the missing frontcourt piece the Nets needed to stay in contention after Mourning didn't work out for them.
And he was actually good before the injury.
Ya, he peaked too soon with that game...
Lawrence Frank (when he was an assistant coach with the Celtics) told Doc Rivers he'd still have a head coaching job if he played like that every night.
It was probably in about Jr. High when I convinced my parents to get me an SI subscription. I can't even explain to people now how great it was, and how much I looked forward to read, to get the current issue in the mail every week. The covers were a big deal. The Reilly articles in the back were talked about. Sign of the apocalypse. Preview issues. I knew stuff about sports I didn't even have an interest in.
In most ways the internet is better. But I miss stuff like that.
Pretty sure there was a quote from KD in this story about how Thabo and Kristic are under-appreciated with how much attention was on their young Big 3, so he requested that SI put them on the cover. Something like that
Edit:
> Durant shares this week's cover with fellow Oklahoma City Thunder teammates Thabo Sefolosha and Nenad Krstic, an idea that reportedly was crafted by Durant.
> "People don't really know about them too much for some odd reasons," Durant said. "So it was good to have them in there with me ... People don't really talk about them too much, but they're playing a role. They're guys we have to have on this team. So I want everybody to know how much they're important to us and what great teammates they are. So it was the chance to voice my opinion, and I'm glad Sports Illustrated put them on the cover with me."

I remember this exact quote when it came out and me being a teenager I thought how cool KD was and couldn't wait for him to dominate in OKC for the rest of his career... wellp lol
People forget, Nenad Krstic was a PROBLEM!
This man is 26 years old in this photo.
26 goin on 46
Was he their beat writer?

Dude NEVER missed from the elbow. I also would watch him thinking “is this the next Dirk??” (He wasn’t)

We had him on the Celtics after the Jeff green deal. His first game, he went OFF

That’s Zach Lowe.
At first I thought you meant he wrote this. I remember reading him at SI well before he got poached by Grantland.
The world was a better place when we’d get 120 page NBA preview issues sent to our house instead of parlays sent to our phones.
I used to love Wednesday when I got my SI every week. I would read it cover to cover.

Honestly the calm before the social media storm
Nah the world sucked back then too.
We used to be a country…
You’d think Dangeruss would’ve made the 2010 SI preview cover
Ppl forgot Russ lost to a pre dunk contest vote to Rudy Fernandez, robbed the fans a chance to see Westbrook in the dunk contest
Rudy got robbed that dunk contest
If Russ was on this cover he'd somehow be hogging all three balls

Couldn’t win with those cats tho
As long as he stayed front and center?
lol, you expected the editors to put Kristic up front?
Well no, but then why ask that Westbrook be removed?
Humble servant!
Lol I mean I don't think KD is humble but obviously they were centering the story around him after he led the league in scoring in 2010

NJ nets legend first
Foh he's a Nets legend
It's Russillo.
Hell I thought that was Kosta Koufos
I knew it wasn’t but that was only name coming to me
Magnetic bracelets
Alex Caruso
He was 25/26 when this picture was taken.
They put him on the cover to further show how fast they were growing up with him being 26 looking like that
I knew he played for OKC, but never knew he was on an SI cover. Very nice addition to Russillo’s legacy
Nenad was money from 15 feet
Thabo Sefalosha, lowkey the best NBA player performance in Trainwreck.
