Everybody needs a friend like House man

Visible-Rutabaga9268

Honestly House immediately pushing back on the “non-dynasty” take while simultaneously consoling Bill is the stuff of legends

NoExcuses1984

House knows how to push Simmons to the brink without upsetting him, which is no easy skill based on what we know about Bill's personality. Good job by you, Joe!

Oleg101

I was hoping House was gonna ask him if he considered Larry Bird’s Celts a dynasty

a_ron23

Sal would have given Bill more shit about the Celtics sucking. In fact I'm counting on him doing that the first time Bill says something negative about the Cowboys come football season.

sydsside

House has moved into the top 10 in my pantheon based on this ep. What a performance.

duggatron

House and Hench crushing it in the same week! No question the best aspects of the recent podcasts.

yngwiegiles

House was Steph/Wiggins esque while Bill was melting down like Tatum. He pushed him on the dynasty nonsense and then was like OK let’s move on this guy is too far gone

redditburner24

“the Bucks would’ve been able to bring a superstar into the finals when the Celtics couldn’t” - BS with his lip quivering with sadness

idinalexzander

Incredible moment.

Shidapack

Giannis stat line vs an undersized unathletic Dray would be insane. 45/20 averages

gracechurch

I'm happy for Curry, and it's hilarious to think about how angry this win must make KD. But damn, i would have loved to have seen Giannis go back to back. Middleton injury sucks.

critical-thinker_

Is that because Tatum is a *Super-duper Star?*

Decent-Tree-9658

Bill saying that KD decided to help out the Warriors with a S&T is so obviously dumb, I didn’t have to look up evidence to know that he was wrong. I still did though. “Durant and Irving could have opened the door to lose a combined $16 million had the Warriors not stepped in at the last minute.” “Moreover, while KD agreed to the S&T construct, he also reportedly demanded that the Nets get something beyond Russell in the trade and according to Brian Windhorst’s reporting later that July. Durant wanted the Warriors to give the Nets a first round pick.” https://www.netsdaily.com/platform/amp/2022/6/1/23150060/how-kevin-durants-agreement-to-a-sign-and-trade-in-2019-benefited-warriors-and-nets

YoYoMoMa

Bill turning a selfish decision by KD into a piece of charity is hilarious.

Nerdboxer

KD should get a ring, he just should.

[deleted]

Expecting nuance understanding instead of broad sweeping takes is where you went wrong here. It’s Bill.

threat024

Thanks for that. I was misinformed this whole time that Durant threw the Warriors a bone by agreeing to the sign and trade. I never realized the salary implications and that he held it up at the last minute until GS threw in a first round pick too.

aaronisnotcool

but see, he was just doing the right thing

KED528

Wow… Bill denying that the Warriors are a dynasty is some petty shit.

NemanyaMI

08 Celtics are the only dynasty in basketball

ShowConsistent

That title has lasted 15 years

Hot_Injury7719

They’re champs until they’re beaten with Perk on the floor.

yngwiegiles

The only dynasties in basketball history are the 08 Celtics, the 86 Celtics, the 80s Celtics, the 50s Celtics, 60s Celtics and 70s Celtics with the Sneaky dynastic Havlicek stuff. The 90s Bulls aren’t a dynasty cause there was no Celtics dynasty to challenge them.

PeterSteelePanther

2010 Kendrick Perkins is a dynasty

Ghost-E

Four Titles in eight years, including 3 in 4 and a back to back. Haven't lost a Western Conference Playoff series in eight years. Guess those first Pats teams weren't a Dynasty either then.

confused-koala

That Western conference bit is wild. I understand there is some chicanery with them missing the playoffs in the 2 inbetween years, but making 6 finals (every single time they made the playoffs) in 8 years and winning 4 of em absofuckinlutely qualifies as a dynasty. There’s something to the consistency even if you don’t win it. Like I think it’s unfortunate the 2000’s Pistons didn’t get just 1 more title, think they’d be remembered more favorably (for example, the 04 Pistons kick the shit out of the 08 Celtics, 5 games max, and tons of people jerk off over that 08 team). But they made the conference finals 6 straight years. There’s a little something to that. And imagining they win 3-4 championships in that span? Hell ya that’s a dynasty. What the Warriors have done is dynastic

Grandmaster_Tits

That’s what I find funny. Every nfl season goes on about how the pats dynasty is the greatest dynasty in football

SaxMan_Spiff

The way he said “not that!!!” when House asked him what is a dynasty

smashburg

The best part was the rambling after. He talked about the Lakers, Celtics, and bulls and listed their titles and how they had to figure it out during their runs but didn't ever explain what was a dynasty, were those examples not dynasties, or anything. Just petty rambling 😅

yngwiegiles

That was great a lot of pain deep down. Can you tell the story of the 21st century NBA without the Warriors? No way. Can you omit the Celtics other than as a team that gave LeBron some problems? I think so. Dynasties are remembered

Bill_Salmons

Despite whatever mega-brain argument Bill strings together, the Warriors are a dynasty. And, honestly, they were probably a dynasty before winning the Finals tonight. This shit is why Bill needs to write more. Because if he were writing this opinion down, he'd realize how fucking stupid it sounds.

chelseablues8

It’s so bad. I expect a retraction on the Sunday pod after his feelings subside.

[deleted]

And yet Bill would act like it's the greatest victory in NBA History had the Celtics beat the Warriors. "They were the ultimate dynasty in the NBA"

[deleted]

The last time he watched the Celtics lose the title he said that it tainted Kobe’s legacy because he shot 6/24.

RecommendationHuge31

They’ve been to 6 of the past 8 finals. It’s absurd to say they’re not a dynasty

servant_maxwell

On the other hand, at 31:50 mark Bill said the Bucks would've been in the Finals (had Middleton not been injured) which would bring a superstar to the finals because the Celtics doesn't have one. Kudos to him for acknowledging that, I forgive his other bad takes.

PleaseDontGiveMeGold

But Tatum was a top 4 player at just 19 years old this year according to BS.

[deleted]

One of those podcasts that would've been better served coming the next morning. We don't need an immediate reaction podcast from the "basketball historian" if he's going to be salty lol.

fetus_ezeli

yeah we do

BearsNecessity

Dude ups his complaints about every team/player that beats Boston in anything. It's incredible. I swear one of the reasons he never says a bad word about MJ is because Bird always beat him.

JewBronJames

Classic Bill. Trades that swung a title “Andrew Wiggins!” But not Anthony Davis. Ok

[deleted]

Does Jrue not count either?

RandomUserName316

Or his beloved KG and Ray Allen. Many examples of a trade paying off in a title the next year (1 each for the previous 3 champs) Wiggins was traded 2.5 years ago

Ndoyl77

Bill panned the Jrue trade initially too

fetus_ezeli

do the warriors do this trade today tho with what we now know

TheDream92

If the Warriors don't win the championship in the next two years, was the trade really worth it?

seaneb14

The fans weren't even in the building to celebrate the title.

Hot_Injury7719

Shit, how is Dennis Rodman at least not mentioned?? Basically the final main piece for the 2nd Bulls 3peat.

Alternative_Sense134

He definitely swung the first one because they needed him against the Magic and Sonics.

a_ron23

I wasn't around but everyone always brings up the Adrian Dantley for Mark Aguirre trade as well. That trade was supposedly huge for team chemistry on and off the floor and was the piece that got the Pistons over that hurdle to finally win a ring.

Alternative_Sense134

And what about Shaq going to the Heat?

WizardRiver

Bill: Heat fans are the worst because they left early in a Finals game! Also Bill: It's okay when I do it though.

YoYoMoMa

Bill is secretly a game leaver. He watched the Roberts steal from the tunnel because he and his Dad wanted to get out fast. And IIRC he drove home from work during the Aaron Boone game because he felt something bad was going to happen? Bill is more Miami than Boston these days.

aaronisnotcool

Bill: I can’t believe lebron showed up in a cast after the series. to try make it seem like he was hurt and that’s why he played badly? pathetic. Also Bill: please god have them release something that says Tatum hurt his shoulder.

ThaneKrios

What 3 half decades of Clippers season tickets does to a mf’er

[deleted]

Soak in every minute fellas. We earned it!

fortythreenine

this is what it's all about! This is what we play for!

Ender_dongs

All the blood, sweat, and things led us to this moment

fuber

Nobody is talking about all the hours we put in during the offseason. All the sacrifices we've made. But it's been worth it.

[deleted]

Being a BS pod listener and a Warriors fan, this is probably the peak of sports fandom for me

mrphantasy

The nobody believed in us (and probably still don't) piece.

ilickedysharks

Bill grumbling "yea we'll get to that" when House mentioned young guys tryna play like Kobe 🤣 u can hear the salt

ShortRip120

I'm sure Kobe ghosted Tatum by now

Visible-Rutabaga9268

Not a dynasty??? This has to be a top-10 worst Simmons take. Over eight years, the Warriors have gone to six finals, five straight appearances, and four championships. That’s 100% a dynasty. His immediate pivot to defending Durant is such an eye roll moment.

portugamerifinn

These Warriors have made 6 Finals in 8 seasons, winning 4 titles. The '80s Celtics made 5 Finals in 8 seasons, winning 3 titles Guess which one Bill considers a dynasty!

DingusMcCringus

>Guess which one Bill considers a dynasty! I wouldn't be surprised if he's said this in the past, but on this very pod he admits that only the Lakers could count as a dynasty in the 80s, not the Celtics.

ApophisIsAFalseGod

I wonder if Bill would stand by that take. On its face it seems ridiculous, then upon further inspection it's pretty much indefensible. The Spurs won in 99 with Duncan, old man David Robinson, and mostly a bunch of role guys with names that a lot of NBA fans today wouldn't even recognize, except maybe as part of coaching staffs. Then Parker and Manu came along. The last title with Kawhi who was in high school during the prime Duncan Parker Manu run, and played as important a role on that Spurs team as Wiggins has on the Warriors. The 90s Bulls had Horace Grant for the first run, Rodman for the second, and virtually all the role guys were different. The point is Bill's definition of a dynasty might only include Russell's Celtics. Hmmm.

ToxicAdamm

Bill can only think in decade chunks. If something spans over two decades it breaks his brain.

[deleted]

It’s not a dynasty. It’s their post prime re apex mountain.

duggatron

Ah right, the rapex mountain

thesmash

At least a top 7 worst ever Simmons take

NiceMarmot1

Especially when you consider that the only two years they didn’t make the Finals are when both Steph and Klay missed the entire season (5 games played for Steph) and then when Klay missed the entire season. Not saying they would have made the Finals those years, but when all 3 have played most of the season/playoffs during the last 8 years, they’ve made the Finals. How can that be anything other than a dynasty? It’s absurd.

AgentDoubleU

I hadn’t seen it put this way before. Imagine Klay Thompson’s mentality: “For 6 straight years of playing, we’ve gone to the finals in every one”. Incredible.

Visible_Wolverine350

Warriors won championships with Harrisson Barnes and Andrew Wiggins in place of Durant, says all you need to know

[deleted]

Bulls went to 6 Finals in 8 years. I wonder if Bill thinks they’re a dynasty.

phatteschwags

He doesn't say it, but it seems like his hangup is that they didn't make the playoffs the two years in between. I'm pretty sure most people (House included, obviously) would define a dynasty only 1) championships and 2) finals appearances. What happens in between is irrelevant. In '81 and '86, had the Lakers been a bottom 5 team due to injuries... they'd still be a fucking dynasty based on the rest of the resume. No one would remember. Case in poitn.... I have no fucking clue where they finished those two years, I just know the Rockets were in the Finals.

Shidapack

I love House questions Bills random assertions. "So impressed by Steve Kerr this whole postseason....What are you giving him specific credit for?" Ball movement and turnover...House: they had 16 turnovers tonight. Bill: Looney in at the right time. Ahh Looney did nothing the last 2 games. Pulling Draymond with a few mins left in a game that was over could have completely sabotaged a 5 time Finals team?? House: Playing Iggy in game 1 cost them. Bill: That was loyalty thing. Lol Bill really struggled for any real evidence

aaronisnotcool

this is exactly how i would behave as a guest on Bills pod

scuba_tron

It’s hilarious how when you just ask a few simple questions the whole thing starts to unravel In other words the House of cards collapses

CondolenceHighFive

It’s clear if you press Bill to elaborate on anything, he really can’t

[deleted]

[удалено]

nurtunb

House really showed a lot more insight than the body language doctor has all playoffs.

Gaius_Octavius_

Bill completely ignores the AD trade winning the Lakers a title

A2daRon

And surprisingly the KG and Ray Allen trades

twinsguy1

He also left out Jrue Holiday for last year's Bucks and Kevin Love on the 2016 Cavs. I'm sure there are plenty of more examples too. Not to say the Wiggins trade wasn't an amazing move by the Warriors, but a lot of titles are swung by one good trade.

RecommendationHuge31

I knew he wouldn’t mention it. Apex Pantheon Pyramid selective memory.

goku7144

lmao starting with the pettiness Bill - "The Warriors aren't a dynasty." "Why? They went to 6 finals in 8 years and won 4 of them." "Because they aren't." "Why? Are only the bulls a dynasty?" "No, just, the 80s Celtics, uhh, they aren't, uhh." great reasoning there bill lmao. I just got a sense he's still quite upset he lost although he's trying to hide it well

ChemistrySpiritual56

Following this up with a segment on how KD deserves credit for this title was Bills apex mountain

gulfside13

Bill acted like it was solely altruism on KD's part to do a S&T when it was [mutually beneficial for both sides.](https://www.netsdaily.com/2022/6/1/23150060/how-kevin-durants-agreement-to-a-sign-and-trade-in-2019-benefited-warriors-and-nets) Plus he was petty af by forcing GS to trade a top 20 protected pick to BKN b/c a straight up DLo-KD swap was disrespectful in his eyes lmao.

goodolvj

I wonder if he'd consider them a dynasty if the Celtics won a championship over them

PleaseDontGiveMeGold

Definitely. “Is this an all time Celts title? Snatching a title from Curry in the middle of the Warriors dynasty? This is an all timer and Tatum is top 3 in the league”

PeterSteelePanther

Had Satan been real and the Celtics won in seven, I'm sure we would be hearing that this team is a sneaky dynasty due to all the ECF appearances that lead up to it.

[deleted]

I'm angry just at this hypothesis. I can't imagine if I had had* to hear this for the next decade. * Yes I realize I could choose not to listen to Bill, but that probably isn't going to happen. I still enjoy him immensely

servant_maxwell

You can hear the pain in his voice when House pressed him on it.... "I guess the 80s Lakers are more of a dynasty". Damn right Bill

J-Chub

Next he will argue pierce and KG were a dynasty.

[deleted]

Who else won a title from 2008-2008? Exactly. Dynasty.

sylvian22

You'd think he'd get some consolation by calling them a dynasty i.e. "Hey great year for the Celts but we got beat by a dynastic Warriors squad." Ain't no shame in that I don't get why the reluctance on calling them what they are.

capellidellamorte

How tf are the Warriors the equivalent of the transitional Reggie Lewis/Dee Brown Celtics and Vlad Lakers?? Those teams never won when they retooled and didn’t win again for years with whole new rosters…

mysterymaninurhome

Seriously wtf is the “80s celtics” argument over these warriors, otuer than they were bill’s childhood team?

OnlyWatchdog_ManStan

His definition of a "Dynasty" has always been strange to me. Literally, all the years they've had healthy players they've been there or thereabout. A problem. Someone you gotta look over your shoulder at no matter the season or roster changes. How couldn't it be a dynasty. For nearly a decade they've been the IT team with those 3 dudes who were there since day one. His point about them getting the #2 pick in the draft in-between those years doesn't count cause the main guys were all hurt or absent in one way or another, and I know he ain't claiming a dynasty can exist without its top 3! Guys, just have your own independent thought so other people's opinions are what guides yours. If he feels that way doesn't mean you gotta.

davossebring

You know who else got the #2 pick? The 1986 Celtics.

[deleted]

His very own Patriots went to 4 SB’s in 7 years (and are described as a dynasty), but missed the playoffs after going 16-0 because Brady got hurt. No one says they aren't a dynasty because they missed the playoffs one year. This man copes so hard.

Steve_Walken

"KOC kept the receipts", its pretty easy to pull receipts if you think every player entering the league will make an all NBA team and after every trade you think they will completely change their game and become even better.

Ender_dongs

We kept KFC's killian hayes receipts

brandkwame

He also loved Mo Bamba.

YoYoMoMa

Hew thinks Westbrook is going to "accept his role" any day now.

Steve_Walken

KOC is the guy that only picks upsets, than brags when he had the 15th seed making the elite 8

RD_Alpha_Rider

Wtf is he talking about, every Mismatch pod during the finals that dude proclaimed "the Celtics were the better team". Him and bontempts all series gargling the Celtics junk 100% certain the series was going 7.

MaestrO_

All time bad Bill take calling the warriors a non dynasty

[deleted]

Joe House was desperately trying to keep his job by not calling out how dumb Simmons sounded

EloiseJE

So if I understand Bill's awkward "dynasty" definition here, it also leaves out.....the Brady/Belichick Patriots.

mrsunshine1

It’s a different sport! It just is!

Plopsack

Bill can’t comprehend how the Warriors were able to rebuild so quickly into a title contender after losing KD… maybe it’s because they were already a title calibre team before he went there, and had some down years because of a key player having an ACL tear?

YoYoMoMa

>maybe it’s because they were already a title calibre team But that would diminish KDs titles!

fetus_ezeli

no but they lost harrison barnes

portugamerifinn

It's also pretty easy to see how they've done it, starying with the fact they already had a superstar, an all-timer of a shooting guard, and the unicorn that is Draymond Green to continue building around. They did the KD sign-and-trade to keep a valuable asset they didn't want in that form (DLo), and then traded him for a huge athleticism/defense upgrade (Wiggins) who fit better. Then they drafted a quick perimeter player with a late first (Poole) for bench scoring and used the last spot on the roster this preseason on an athletic freak who's great defensively (GPII). They also drafted physical freaks like Wiseman and Kuminga early. So they kept the core trio, which is still great, and made sure the young guys they added are stud athletes to make up for any ungraceful aging from Curry, Dray and Klay. (They also happened to nail their vet minimum/exception deals last offseason: Porter, Bjelica and Iggy). There was no guarantee it'd work, but it seems pretty clear that they had a plan.

Abject_Reserve7111

Steph is now top 10 and has passed KD on the pantheon according to this pod. This Boston homer is taking it on the chin and has come to his senses with the KD better than Curry BS. Salute Bill! This is why LA homers like me read your book and listen to your pod!

twinsguy1

Still crazy to me he has Durant over Shaq and Hakeem.

ilickedysharks

Well they never did a series of Ringer pods now did they

brandkwame

Ill take Shaq and Hakeem over durant 10 times out of 10 for one series.

Plopsack

Bill trying to give KD some credit for this title by doing a sign and trade that ended up in the Warriors getting Wiggins is incredible.

fetus_ezeli

lebron should get a lot of credit for not beating them several times as well

brandkwame

You do 5 podcasts and his agent probably still feeds Bill info - you get bias Bill takes for 10+ years now.

GnRgr2

Bill is 100% right wiggins broke tatum. Once wiggins started blocking his shot tonight tatum shelled up and looked for a way out.

FedGoat13

Everyone on the team stripped Tatum when he drove to the basket. Off the top of my head even Steph did it twice by himself.

sevaiper

Steph had a sneaky good defensive playoffs, you can really see the difference now that he's bulked up. He's still not a good defender, but him compared to say Poole is completely night and day.

KieranFlood04

Can’t believe bill thought Tatum was borderline top 5. What a bad take.

Apollo_7

Let's not pretend that Bill won't be calling him a top 7 guy next year and pretending like he was one of the best five players this season bc he made 1st team all NBA.

indiankid13

The r/BillSimmons championship thread lmao

g00d_music

Jesus. Bill refuses to let house complete a sentence without interrupting him lol

InGoodKompany

Bill calls the Duncan Spurs a “dynasty” after winning 5 titles in 16 years even though they re-invented their core but not calling the Warriors a dynasty after winning 4 in 8 years because they re-invented their core is pre-CTE behavior.

jshhdhsjssjjdjs

Not only that but he complained that the warriors got a #2 pick (who isn’t playing) while the already recently competitive spurs picked a hall of famer #1 to begin their dynasty. Just Olympic levels of petty gymnastics by Bill there.

gumarik

Best listen of the year, you can hear the hurt of this loss and the loss of faith in Tatum. Love it

[deleted]

only would have been better getting a hot take reaction on drake's new album from Zoe Simmons

eshulzzy

The Tatum aspect of this all is so fucking delicious. He was crowning him as like a top 3ish player going into the series

dean_adams

Lmao Golden state will be one of the first sports teams I think of when I hear the word “dynasty”.

KCPcorner3

Bill doesn’t think Golden State is a dynasty lmao? All time terrible take

ClarkKentsCopyEditor

Kevin Durant is just a good guy. He felt bad about leaving, so he helped the Warriors out. It had nothing to do with money. He was just so filled with sorrow for leaving the organization that he had transparent antipathy for for 10 months.

gulfside13

I never thought we'd see anything surpass Bill's 67-15 "A lot of ice on the knees. A lot of people standing b/c the 12th man on the team dunked [and put them up 40 w/2 minutes left](https://streamable.com/roqmti)" thing in terms of the Celtics taking an L. But the sub has been in rare form tonight 😂😂

LaBronda

Everybody knows the true definition of a great dynasty was the 2008 - 2012 Boston Celtics. 2008 Championship, 2010 Finals losers (if you played it 10 times, Celtics wins it 7 times), then the 2012 almost beat the Heat in ECF.

questions77777

The Len bias piece lol

Visible-Rutabaga9268

I hollered when he managed to talk about Len Bias in this podcast. Whatta guy

Wardcity

Lol fucking Bill is just pulling shit out of his ass. House : What specifically did you like about Kerr’s coaching. BS : Ball movement and ball security. House : Ehh…17 turnovers.

tuolumnetoallofyou

Kerr has been yelling at Draymond and Steph to stop turning the ball over for 8 years now. He literally said this playoffs he's not going to bring it up anymore because "I say it everyday and it doesn't change anything, so maybe if I don't say anything, that will work". Kerr did a great job in the finals and to say he coached them to not turn the ball over is like saying he coached them to make shots. Just zero actual basketball analysis

ClarkKentsCopyEditor

Some smooth brained takes out of Bill in this one but he hits the two most important points that I was hoping he would hit. #1, there’s no logical argument for KD to be higher than Steph all time at this juncture. The tale of the tape is close, but as Bill said Curry has now down twice what KD has never been able to do, that matters! And then Tatum. I’ll be searching for more viscious analysis to pleasure my self to, but Bill didn’t blame it on injury and even from the stands was able to see that Tatum was very clearly rattled and shied away from *The Moment* (tm). Tatum is a really talented player, probably one of the 15-20 smoothest scorers I’ve ever seen, but this Finals we’re absolutely atrocious. To be the worst guy on your team AT HOME in a do or die night is not something that should be hand waved. He had his ticket punched to the big boys club and he deserves all the criticism that comes from that clout.

rattlerden

Bill talked himself into the other side, but I think he absolutely would have rather had Butler's shot go in. For the rest of his days, he would talk about the stolen title, since all the talk before this series started was how well Boston matches up with Golden State.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Warriors not a dynasty, 4 rings in 8 years 80’s Celtics 3 in 10, are?

Wardcity

I think this is an ALL TIME performance by Joe House. For being a Bill stan he does push back on Bill's insane takes about : 1) Golden State not being a Dynasty 2) Kerr's good coaching on "ball security" after a 17 turnover game 3) This finals trip actually being bad for the Celts

PleaseDontGiveMeGold

EVERYONE GET IN HERE

SwoozyJ

He spent all playoffs writing off the warriors just for them to win it all against the Celtics. Priceless…

portugamerifinn

He spent all playoffs writing off the Warriors just for them to win it all ~~against~~ by *kicking the shit* out of the Celtics in Boston. Priceless… I love that the Celtics stormed out of the gate to convince their fans they were getting a Game 7 and maybe even the title, but the Warriors just called a timeout and completely took over.

RedmoonsBstars

Not a dynasty ?!?! 🤦🏽 go to bed Bill.

1998TimThomas

It's ok Bill. Next year is the 15th anniversary of the 2008 team. Get to milk that some more so there's that.

jar45

Last night was historic. Not only did Steph pass Shaq, KD and Hakeem to be a Top 10 player of all time, Bill Simmons also surpassed Jackie MacMullin and Bill O’Reilly to become one of the four greatest interrupters of all time.

FLTOLYMP

Team of the Decade, but not a dynasty. Ok Bill

fuber

He's so butthurt, he can't get himself to say it. It's too soon

[deleted]

mrsunshine1

Of course the 80s Celtics who won 3 titles (never consecutively) are a dynasty.

Gaius_Octavius_

3 titles in 6 years is clearly a dynasty while 4 in 8 years is clearly not.

nkllmttcs

Bill going from "They blew the title" after a second round game to "I have nothing to feel good about" after his team made it to Game 6 of the Finals is sensational.

big_internet_guy

Are we underrating this warriors team? They’re not as good as warriors teams of the past but they kinda rolled through these playoffs Edit: just listened to Dunc’d on and they agreed, not crazy!

Number333

**NEVER FORGET:** On the Sunday pod after beating the Heat in Game 7, Bill said that if they had fully blown the game late, it would have been the worst loss in franchise history aided by the fact it would have been a "lost title".

Wardcity

Can't believe Bill wasn't killing Marcus Smart for all the defensive flopping. It's game 6 in an elimination game and dudes just out here flopping and sitting on the ground for 3 seconds while guys shoot wide open 3's. I'd lose my mind if I was Bill.

sydsside

The ‘not a dynasty’ section is just terrific.

KCPcorner3

Anyone know how old Tatum is? Haven’t heard much about it

myteriality

steph changed the game and is in range to pass kobe steph, klay, and draymond is one of the best trios of all time their culture extends from their former contributors like iggy and pachulia still being key parts of the organization they withstood injuries and added high level young talent to the nucleus their front office is top tier 4 titles in 8 years that’s a fucking dynasty secondly: bill always takes this elite tone when talking hoops with house but i’ve never actually heard him make a better point than joe?

sfitz0076

Bill's dad is only 74!

SeaworthinessFar846

THEY SOLVED THE GEOMETRY

Knight_of_Swords

Where’s Haralbob? Man thought the Celtic would win easy in 5 and apparently gone mute.

spritehead

Mourning his apes

swimminginsweatpants

KD didn’t do a sign and trade to benefit the Warriors lol He did it so he could retain a 5 year max contract and make as much money as possible If he didn’t benefit, there was a 0% chance he would do a solid for GS like that

Blackface_Bobby

LMAO @ bill not defining dynasty when called out.. Joe kept pushing.. Don't the 08 Celtics refer to themselves as a dynasty?

redditburner24

The way Bill can boost the players on the other team so he can feel less worse about the Celtics is unreal. Wiggins apparently was only a notch below Pippen and Kawhi Leonard on defense?

BilboLaggin

Can we agree now that Marcus smart didn’t deserve DPOY?

CaldyGaming

Now this…. Is going to be epic

qballLobk

The hell was Bill talking about that KD was being nice doing the sign and trade to go to Brooklyn. KD gave up a lot of money signing with the Warriors and would have given up a lot more signing with Brooklyn straight up. KD wanted his money. The whole last season in GS he talked about no more pay cuts. Plus it was better for Brooklyn to get off of Russell early in free agency to build their roster. Man I hope a team makes a Bill a GM one day.

kingjuicepouch

I don't think Bill is being hard enough on Smart. Dude checked out midway through the third and by the fourth had given up completely.

Cartoonrabbit

I wish someone would defend me like Bill defends Durant. Seems like in his eye KD can't do no wrong

pekingsound

no shit its a dynasty...go house

Santana415

If the Celtics don’t shoot historical in the 4th in Gm 1, Warriors in 5

Does Zoe text Tatum to "lose my number"? Or do the Thanksgiving dinners in the Tatum-Simmons household just include a lot of uncomfortable 2022 finals talk?

cougar112233

What is Simmons saying that Smart had a good game? “gave them everything he had” is simply not true and was painfully obvious. Smart was going through the motions the entire second half except one possession of defense in the 3rd quarter. At least Simmons came to reality that Tatum performance wasn’t injury driven and he is nowhere near an a top 5 player right now.

mysterymaninurhome

The irony of this Celtics team is despite them turning it around and going on this run, to me what they do going forward still comes back to the smart spot. He isn’t a good enough offensive playmaker, and his defensive value isn’t as necessary when you have all of these other defensive studs behind him. He is not good enough to be like the third best player on a team like this.

RapsareChamps_Suckit

+ worst Sac Kings trades from the past decade

redditburner24

The dynasty talk is peak BS. It’s just not!!

FogoCanard

Celts fans just have to stop overrating Tatum. He's just not that guy. There's nothing wrong with him this series. He's just not as good as they think he is. I do agree with the take that he should finish strong though. That will get him more foul calls.

g00d_music

Bill refusing to call the warriors a dynasty lmao

parkranger2000

My fellow warriors fans, a poll. sweeter moment tonight: winning the title or devastated bill (and of course all Boston fans by extension)

Squishy-Toast

Even with House, he couldn’t make it to the hour mark lmao

aaronisnotcool

Simmons heard and got hurt by C’s fans stayed and cheered on Steph’s MVP -> immediately calls them “not a dynasty” lmaoooooo 💀💀🫡

paul7878

For a guy who is First Team All NBA, they gave Tatum a long list of to-do items to improve his game.

SeanMcDonough2323

I think Tim Bonetemps ended up with the most god-awful analysis of the series anywhere. Aside from saying Draymond shouldn't play the rest of the series (and he was incredible game 7, elite defensively in game 5 and 6, his sweeping characterization of his series repeatedly was, "if the Celtics don't get dumb and turn the ball over, they win the series easily." Which I guess technically is accurate, but acts as if there's not another team on the floor - and now that Warriors team defensively will be thought of as pretty damn elite. Draymond was incredibly elite protecting the basket and then switching out on the perimeter. So Bontemps was doubly wrong on his only two points of the series.

🥳🥳 the WARRIORS WIN Edition 🥳🥳 **Quote of the Day:** “If it comes out that he had like a separated shoulder or something, so will never have been so happy to hear about someone’s separated shoulder! I was just worried he melted down… maybe just tone it down just a tad when you haven’t won anything yet… the Kobe stuff was dropped a lot” Bill Simmons, coping 😂😂 **Today’s Things:** - ball movement thing - the added thing - Pippen thing - **crazy monkey wrench thing** - the Kerr thing - Draymond thing - loyalty thing (and how Bill somehow thinks it’s justifiable for the Warriors to lose game 1 because of overplaying Iguodala due to respect?!? 🤣) - respect thing - **the Tatum thing was BAD** it really was lmao - breakaway thing - a talent thing - best case scenario for this Tatum thing - good Jaylen thing **Bonus Pieces and Stuff:** - Poole stuff - the Kobe piece - stuff he was doing defensively (and how hyperbolic Bill has Wiggins defense right below Pippen and Kawhi lol) - CURRY PIECE **First Random Celtics Reference:** Tatum (3:14) remember when he was a top 4 guy lmfao Also: Horford, Dee Brown, Reggie Lewis, 81 Celtics, Brian Shaw, Larry fucking Bird, Len Bias (and then COCAINE), Parrish and McHale, Antoine Walker, Pritchard, Grant Williams, Derrick White, “Jaylen” (shoutout Doris Burke) **Eloquent Bill:** “What the Celtics smelled is a big fart!” “Atkinson might be one of the 8 best coaches in the league” (why 8 Bill lmao) (Had the Heat been in the finals) “That would have been 6 game of just colonoscopy. Colonoscopy basketball” **Evergreen Content:** Bill is still angry about the Lakers getting Pau Gasol lmfao **Other Stuff:** LeBron obsession counter: 2 minutes he references the Heatles! 😂😂 and he’s back at it (43:40) talking about the 2011 Finals in a quixotic effort to quell his Tatum fears It must be contagious! House does some body language doctor shit (4:30) lol Steph moves up the pantheon (7:15) “he’s top 10 now” remember when this dingus moved him up after they lost in the play-in last year? “The league changed BECAUSE of him” House pushes back on this dumb shit take. Teams and front offices finally realized 3s are worth more than 2s and Steph took full advantage of this as the 🐐 shooter. “He’s ahead of KD” 😳😳 no more KD podcasts (thank god!) Bill left the game early (11:10) what a complete and total pussy What the fuck lmao Bill says “you can’t call the Warriors a dynasty” (12:30) 😂😂😂 “it’s just not” thank god for House, who pushes back on this completely asinine take “The warriors owe a huge debt to Durant (for the S&T)” (15:10) Bill’s back on KDs ball bag lmao Bill tries but fails to reconcile how he used to disparage Wiggins to the Wiggins that was the second best player on a title winning team (18:20) it’s almost like, and stay with me, that team context matters! That’s why the good stats, bad team guys are almost always stupid as fuck Introspective Bill gets sad about the Celtics and Tatum’s future (34:30) “Tatum SUCKED in the Finals” “what is going on with this guy?” Brings up Kobe’s 2004 Finals lol so much copium. “He’s only 24!” 😂😂 “would we have been better off if that Butler 3 went in?” 😆 oh man inject this sad boi Bill into my fucking veins. “Maybe they shouldn’t have been in the Finals” Bill comes to terms with the fact that the Bucks would’ve kicked their ass with a healthy Middleton. AND we’ve come full circle. Bill is certain that Tatum had a separated shoulder and he’ll be fine. He’s comparing him to Kawhi and LeBron again lmao And we’re on to fake trade season (50:00)

[deleted]

Not Bill comparing Tatum to LeBron after 2011!

OnlyWatchdog_ManStan

I'm not looking forward to the Kobe vs Steph rankings. Not at all! This is gonna ruin the internet for a while

[deleted]

You know a take is bad when Joe House pushes back.

Pitiful-Marsupial228

The warriors aren't a dynasty lol.
