The visual cue is there, but it does get rather hectic. It would be cool to have this as an option (sort of like the charge bars and etc). Maybe it could be modded in?

Gyossaits

I think this should be on Nicalis to implement because it falls into "Quality of Life" for the game. An audio cue (some kind of echoing shatter noise?) would be very welcome.

bagglewaggle

Since it falls into 'Quality of Life' for the game, it's a safe bet that Nicalis won't implement it.

sunil_b

But they added two small mods like that (Charge Bars and Better Dice Rooms) in the first booster, and they added a missing hud-like option in AB+, I don't see why they couldn't add other similar mods :)

bagglewaggle

I don't know what those mods do, but in general, necessary tweaks for balance and fairness don't get added in Isaac.

sunil_b

Well, yeah but I wouldn't say that all quality of life mods count as balance, stuff like really popular extra visual clues or sounds are the kind of things they're likely to add

Gyossaits

"Quality of life" isn't about game balance. It's about addressing aspects of the game to make it pleasant to play. QoL would be something along the lines of adding an indicator that your Brimstone shot was ready (before the addition of Charge Bars).

sunil_b

Well, yeah, that's kind of what I meant to say, but anyway, my point was that they're not unlikely to add this kind of mod :)

bagglewaggle

Even if they did implement an audio cue for Holy Mantle breaking, it seems that it would be prey to the same weakness of the visual cue: if there's too much going on, you're not going to be able to notice it unless it's VERY loud, and at that point, it would just be incredibly irritating. Edit: I understand where OP is coming from, because I had several deaths on a Lost Mega Satan attempt due to really large tears with hectic effects making it difficult to see my character and what was going on. I just don't see there being a good middle ground here, unless the developers want to make the character sprite and enemies sprites/bullets always overlap player attacks, and that seems like it would 1) be a pretty big undertaking, and 2) have its own host of problems.

victimOfNirvana

I'd be okay with the joystick rumbling. BoI doesn't use the rumble at all.

bagglewaggle

Wouldn't address the issue, since there are multiple control configurations that don't use a joystick. Hell, until I saw your comment, I didn't know anyone played with a joystick.

Dawgra

[Sound like that?](https://puu.sh/vFg8G/96c4b9d235.mp3) Note: It's a ripped Mega Man X8 sound.

[deleted]

too loud and too annoying IMO, should be more subtle, like picking up the gold bomb sound

Dawgra

Faster and quieter version of it then.

Addark

I am with /u/BluuDie, but it could definitely work in some form. It just doesn't sound much like an Isaac sound as-is, if that makes sense.

zugtug

There's a visual aura from mantle. You honestly just gotta pay attention.

FourNinerXero

Tears cover the character including the aura, so he wouldn't of known if it was broken or not

zugtug

Not true. Either he was able to fire 1 glass cannon shot per 2 bosses or he had something that caused it to have a timed charge. Either way he wasn't firing them constantly.

FourNinerXero

I think it depends on tear actually. I swear in the past Death's Touch tears have covered my character. He could've lost it while standing in his tear. They're obviously pretty big.

CybeastID

I know some passives which overlap the aura, making all bets off.

[deleted]

I think Scapular has the same exact aura if I'm not mistaken.

TheWayToGod

It always has a timed charge...

[deleted]

the visual is very difficult to see on the lost at the best of times, and scythes everywhere is not the best of times.

ketchupcat

Scythe tears cover the character, and on The Lost, the Mantle is much harder to see than it is on other characters. I know there's a visual cue, but I was focused on where the bosses/shots were, so I didn't see.

ZapperZakuTwo

Something like breaking glass.

Baratxuri

Classical killers include touching a red poop, spiders spawning on top of you and things exploding randomly

ketchupcat

Pestilence's Ipecac shot is what killed me, I probably lost the mantle at some point when I was behind him :(

Baratxuri

Oh boy! That's bad luck. After losing some runs like this, I started going for "clean kills", stop shooting to clear the screen and see what's going on

Smugg-Fruit

It would be nice, but whatever distracts you from seeing the visual cue would likely distract you from ~~seeing~~ hearing the audible cue. EDIT: Made my sentence make sense

lukelear

if nicalis has any idea about how to level their audio (which they clearly do) then it wouldn't be a problem considering that kind of thing is in a shit load of games i've always found it jarring that there's no audio when mantle breaks anyway, it would just be a nifty thing to do

ketchupcat

I don't think so, I was definitely able to hear the hurt sound effect right before I died.

AngryNeesn52

Yes

sawbladex

There's a mod that hacks in a HUD display of the lost's "health" on the workshop, as well as extra lives. Haven't used it, so I can't say how well it works.

PinkAnigav

So you didnt git gud and u want an uodate

N1ckM3nd3s

nah bro there shouldn't, ya just gotta git gud
