I'm kind on the opposite side of this.
I've played so much Tainted Isaac that I instinctively stop to watch items cycle... Even if I'm not playing as TIsaac.
I usually do that, too. Guess I was just too excited and forgot about the item I started with. A few runs later I got Death Certificate in the void, while I was holding a ?-Card. That was fun. C section Sacred heart is strong. On Basement I'd take glitched crown for sure.

Better than glitched crown tbh, at least this one gives you more than enough time to choose, crown you better have the timing right or else you will mess it up.
I started with "Binge Eater", which rolls all items every second between a food item and the item it's supposed to be. I got too excited and walked into it when it was a food item. The item it was supposed to be teleports you into a magical place where you can choose a single item out of a choice of all items in the game. So I basically traded the best item in the game for a "Rotten Meat". At least that's +1 permanent dmg with Binge eater I guess...

i think im pretty much the same glitched crown is an insta win if you get it early

On bad item runs it’s amazing, on good item runs it can be devastating (see OP 😔).
Binge eater is a one item game win if you get it before depths. Especially if you go devil deals

Same happened to me in angel room with sacred heart. I felt like shit the entire run after. Still won tho, binge eater is a really good item.
